Welcome to the 18th annual Pawleys Island Wine and Food Gala. Thanks to the hard work of a lot of committee members and volunteers, you have the opportunity to taste over 80 wonderful wines, while enjoying the beauty of the Reserve Golf Club and the bounty of delectable hors d’oeuvres presented by our gracious and talented food vendors. All the proceeds from this magical evening will benefit the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art. So, please take a minute to check out the fabulous vacations, jewelry, art and other items being offered in the Silent Auction. And, remember that none of this would be possible without the generous support of the wine distributors and vintners you see here tonight. Not only do they provide us with all these wonderful wines for tonight, they also give you the opportunity to order your favorites at a very special gala price. True Myth Chardonnay, $15.00 $12.00 Paragon Vineyard, Edna Valley CA 2015 Displaying aromas of pear, pineapple, tangerine and vanilla this classic Chardonnay from the Edna Valley shows flavors of tropical fruit, with a hint of minerality and a creamy texture. Refreshing acidity keeps the wine lively and fresh from start to finish, a signature of Paragon Vineyard, and is topped off with an excellent accompaniment of vanilla bean and toasted oak. Cadre Pinot Noir, Architects Estate Reserve, $44.00 $33.00 Paragon Vineyard CA 2014 The aromas in this wine are complex and layered; mocha, cinnamon, dark red fruit, hazelnut, red licorice, earth and mushroom. This follows onto the palate, along with the brighter red fruit flavors and a note of candied red apple. The tannins are silky, and the medium body nicely compliments the supple mouthfeel.

Complex, well-balanced while fresh and fruity. 2014 Zuccardi ‘Q Series’ Malbec, $19.00 $16.00 Argentina The grapes used for Zuccardi Q come from recognized micro-regions in the Uco Valley and selected old vinyeards. Dark violet, with shades of black. Great floral aromas with rich, ripe blackberry, plum and chocolate notes melted with blackcurrant and cassis display an excellent balance and freshness. Mille Prosecco 2015, Veneto, Italy $11.00 $9.00 100% Prosecco from vineyards of the DOC, most of them in Treviso and Pordenone provinces. The grapes are softly pressed, the must is taken at low temperatures and the maceration is done with a cold controlled temperature for better extraction of aromas. Charmat method for the second fermentation for 40 days. The longer the fermentation the more the aromas are retained in the wine, the finer the bubbles and longer lasting.

Domaine Sautereau Sancerre 2016, $19.00 $15.00 Loire, France 100% Sauvignon Blanc. David Sautereau is the young 11th generation winemaker for the family’s Domaine. Production of the wines is meticulous using the most modern winemaking methods to produce wines that show Sancerre’s traditional terroir while pleasing the novice and expert palates.

Joseph Drouhin Macon Villages 2015, $15.50 $12.00 Burgundy, France 100% Chardonnay. Macon is a large terroir in the south of Burgundy, close to the Pouilly-Fuisse. The size of this region allows considerable freedom in selecting wines with different characteristics. Tasting note by Veronique Boss-Drouhin - “The colour of the wine is bright and limpid. The nose is floral and fruity. Very straightforward and direct on the palate, as if biting into a grape. Fresh and light with a very pleasant after taste”. Rose Infine Rose 2016, Provence, France $14.00 $11.00 Grenache Noir/Cinsault - “Rose Global Picks”, Wine Enthusiast, 7/1/16 “This wine comes from vines of the Mont Sainte-Victoire and close to the edge of the Aix-en-Provence region. The cool vineyard site helps the wine keep extreme freshness. Plenty of wild strawberry flavors are lifted by acidity and a refreshing citrus edge.”

The nose leans towards dark cherry, red raspberry and spicy earth, while the middle palate is lush and graceful. On the back end, the wine builds density and focus as the silky yet subtly firm tannins build into the long, energetic finish. “Lithe and elegant, with pretty cherry and orange blossom aromas and long, harmonious flavors that glide along.” 90 Points Wine Spectator

Vina Herminia Excelsus 2014, Rioja, Spain $17.00 $13.00 50% Tempranillo, 50% Garnacha. Fresh and complex on the nose, with rich and smooth oak undertones. Blackberry and plum aromas. On the palate it is elegant, rich, round and well balanced, with lingering finish. The perfect balance of this wine has been achieved by meticulously selecting indigenous grapes.

Clarendelle by Haut Brion, Rouge 2013, $20.00 $15.00 Bordeaux, France 57% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc. Complex and fruity on the nose with blackberry and blackcurrant overtones. Lots of red and black currant fruit, licorice, spice and soft tannins. A silky, opulently styled wine that far exceeds expectations. Clarendelle is named after Clarence Dillon who purchased the famous Chateau Haut-Brion back in 1935.

DeLorimier Cabernet Sauvignon, $24.00 $18.00 Barrel Select Reserve 2013 Alexander Valley, California. The bright fruit on the nose gives off cherry aromas, with a forest floor and cedar undercurrent. The soft, luscious delivery appeals, with silky berries, gentle cigar box, and mild eucalyptus all making a big showing. As the wine opens, black cherry, currant and plum emerge with toasty oak and a bit of cocoa. Aged in French Oak for 30 months.
