Girl Power Expertise Wheel Long lasting alliance/Org. capacity building/Achieving National Objectives 1. Background The Girl Power programme of the Dutch Child Rights Alliance (CRA) is implementing by the local civil society organizations in 10 countries. At the level of each country, all participating partners are together defining their common country programme. Country program gives the shared objectives, and outcome and output results, to which all involved partners, will contribute through their own projects. In addition, it presents the expected results regarding mutual collaboration which all partners aim to achieve during the course of the 5-year programme (2011-2015). The Bangladesh country programme is the joint effort of the involved partner organizations, together with the Plan Bangladesh country office. These partners are member of the Country Steering Committee (CSC). A secretariat led by Plan Bangladesh has been established to coordinate the partner and common expertise. On the basis of the agreement an expertise wheel has been developed to use and multiply the expertise among the partners. All members are agreed to abide the decision of CSC to make space for getting & providing expertise for the better & safe life of Girl & Young women. It has been approved by the CSC meeting that the concept of expertise wheel gets priority and mandatory for girl power Alliance in Bangladesh. Girl Power Alliance partner organizations are Bangladesh National Women Lawyer’s Association (BNWLA). Aparajeo Bangaldesh (APJB). Nari Uddog Kendra (NUK)), Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication. (BNNRC). News Network (NN) Shariatpur Development Society (SDS). Association for Community Development (ACD), Samaj Unnayan Prashikhan Kendra (SUPK) Rupantar, Udayankur Seba Sangtha (USS0, Organization for Rural and Nature Oriented Bangladesh (ORNOB) and Plan Bangladesh. 2. Theme Sharing of expertise for the better and safer life of Girl and Young women. Sharing of resources to achieve one Goal. 3. Objectives To integrate multi sectoral expertise among the partner organizations to contribute in organizational development. To optimum use of expertise to capacitate CSO’s to protect girl & young women from any form of violence. To share individual expertise for other development organization\alliance\forum to achieve the GPP objectives. To build the mutual trust & ties among the alliance Partners.

To make the individual partner more capacitated and sharing of expertise, the wheel has vital role in Girl Power Alliance The notion of this wheel are as example; Nari Uddog Kendra (NUK) has particular expertise on girl sports and life skills. NUK has also particular geographical location to implement the project activities. Accordingly, NUK will concentrate with A to Z activities of project including girl sports in it’s own working district Kishorgong . A part from that NUK will transfer it’s expertise on girl sports activities to other partners in their respective working areas. The individual partner will create
space and kept budget for NUK’s expertise. Same for Plan BD, ABJ, BNWLA. SDS, Rupantar and ACD. NN and BNNRC will provide media support at 8 partners as well National level. Paln and all CSC member will organise National level advocacy event. 5.

Regulate the expertise wheel : GPP secretariat will play the regulatory role through the country steering committee. Accordingly this will chalk out by the CSC to use each partner’s expertise\strength for own working area as well for cross-regional and capacity building of the GP alliance. The individual organization will place their demand to respective alliance partner through secretariat. Following the particular requirements individual organization and secretariat will make the annual expertise sharing plan. Secretariat will coordinate among the org. to ensure the expertise support accordingly. Secretariat will organize National level advocacy events jointly in consultation with CSC. Process\ Methodology: Expert organization will provide training on their expertise area to other alliance partner organization. Through receiving training each individual organization will develop a resource pool in their organization. The resource pool will develop in-house capacity & will build the capacity of local CBO, CSO, Duty Bearer, Girl & Young women. The expert team/resource pool will develop an annual training plan and gradually develop the : - Resource pool from CSO & CBO - Resource pool from DB. - Resource pool from girl & young women.
