Introduction Tanglewood House offers comfort, peace, good facilities and excellent food in an area of outstanding beauty. The house, set in three acres of ground, is built on a headland above Loch Broom, within easy reach of the fishing village of Ullapool, just over an hour by car north-west of Inverness. The house was designed to offer panoramic views in three directions: six miles east up Loch Broom to the Ben Dearig mountain range, west towards the open sea with the Summer Isles and Outer Hebrides beyond, and also across the majestic loch to the Scoraig peninsula managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Behind the house lie wild hills and glens that stretch virtually unbroken for fifty miles. The views are incredibly beautiful. They need to be seen to be believed.
Anne Holloway is a trained chef, with years of experience in restaurants and prestigious Directors' dining rooms including Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong and the Daily Telegraph in London. The drawing room has a magnificent twenty-foot window overlooking the loch. A few strides down the heather-covered headland is Tanglewood House's own beach. Sit in perfect solitude on the rocks and listen to the seals grumbling across the water. Take the rowing boat to the cave, carefully prepared, according to local lore, for the escape of Bonny Prince Charlie. Hardy souls can swim in the loch which, like the surrounding area, is kept mild by the Gulf Stream.

A review of Tanglewood House appears on the website Taste-of-Scotland.com: "A rare and unusual guest house where accomplished cook and proprietor Anne Holloway presents guests with superb skillful meals. She makes use of the best on offer daily from the local fishermen and butcher. Although unlicensed, bring your own wine and enjoy the dishes offered. The sunsets over Loch Broom are truly wonderful." Tanglewood House was reviewed in the June 2007 edition of Scottish Field as one of its 10 unique B&Bs. The review said: "With its own beach and 20-foot window overlooking breathtaking views, Tanglewood House is possibly in one of the most delightful locations in Scotland. It takes a matter of seconds to walk the few metres from the door of the guesthouse to the rocky beach and watch the local seals. Distant from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the incredible scenic backdrop can allow for the ultimate relaxation experience. All three guest bedrooms have a view over Loch Broom and the distant village and hills on the other side. The guesthouse is also set amid three acres of wild gardens. Cordon Bleu food is provided, all cooked from local produce bought from fishmongers or butchers nearby."
