his Friday its all about that Will Power, yes thats the tag line from the pop giant Will I AM who is our cover star this month I’ve never been a fan of him or the Black Eyed Peas but one thing is I know all his records inside out so that’s telling me I’m supposed to like him and i am just denying my love? Maybe ha! Of late though I find myself humming his new tracks and loving them. The urban edge joints playing “Feelin Myself” and “It’s Your Birthday” have had me grinding up women on the walls and also I find my self slotting these tracks into DJ sets and NO I can’t believe it. Playing Will I am is as good as playing YMCA because he is the biggest cheeseball the industry has ever seen but some cheese you can’t deny the great taste of and yes Will does know how to give us likeable cheese ha!

He is the man to be fair, he is what you call a true music producer, I don’t know any song that Will has had that has failed to make the top ten. He is a genius, and a philanthropist which is why we’ve given him the cover story this month. Read all about him in the Centre! Stop reading me and get reading the mag! Mark Dwayne MDG

ALBUM REVIEWS

ith two number one hits and thousands of album sales to his name, Example has become a pop sensation in the UK. His fifth studio album ‘Live Life Living’ is a continuation of his unique style with a slightly different approach (a bit less rapping) over a collection of 90’s influenced club bangers and house productions which will get you in the mood to paint the town red.

ince taking 5th spot in the BBC’s Sound of 2014 poll, George Ezra has undoubtedly found a spot on the radars of many music lovers’ playlists. With two EP’s (Did You Hear The Rain and Cassy O’) both hitting the top 10 on the UK iTunes charts, a number of sold out shows and a 22-date debut UK tour under his belt by the age of 21, Ezra is on course to become a force to be reckoned with.
If you are a fan of actually listening to the song lyrics then you will be disappointed but if you are someone who loves to rave at all times of the week then this is the album for you.
Wanted On Voyage, George’s debut album has charted highly so far across Europe, taking high spots in the UK, Scottish and Swiss charts, and with good reason too.
“I keep being told that this is my year,” he says. “Which is nice, but problematic because I’m planning to be around in 2015 and long beyond.”
Projecting a voice that sounds like it was stolen from a 1920’s blues veteran, Ezra pulls you in from the very beginning of the album. ‘What are you waiting for?’ asks first track ‘Blame It On Me’ in the refrain, which will also be stuck in your head for the rest of the day after hearing it.
After first posting Wanted On Voyage’s second track, Budapest, online as a free download last autumn, the song has been streamed more than 10 million times on Spotify, and five million times on YouTube.
With Budapest and the catchy Cassy O’ coming after, it can feel like a top-heavy album when you’ve listened through it, although it doesn’t detract from the sharp wit, brilliant arrangement and stunning voice that is present throughout.
Be it laid-back and ballad-ish (Barcelona), pop-esque (Stand By Your Gun) or just that voice and a guitar, Ezra has songs in styles that can suit most ears. If you’ve heard Budapest and liked it, or are a fan of good British talent, Wanted On Voyage is a definite to add to your collection. Words : Daniel Riley
The album has the potential to provide a further several singles for Example, as already released tracks ‘All the Wrong Places’, ‘Kids Again’, ‘One More Day’ and ‘Say Something’ could easily be joined by ‘Next Year’ which is a great kickstarter for the album as well as ’10 Million People’, ‘Seen You’ and the album Title Track itself ‘Live Life Living’. So in all, a predictable album that will keep his fans very happy and provide some great club nights and concerts but I don’t think Example will be gaining too many new fans from this record. ver a decade has passed since a virus known as the “Simian Flu” has decimated Earth’s population. Those lucky enough to survive are doing whatever they can to get by. However, with a desperate need for power and supplies running low, the survivors head out into the wilderness in order to locate and repurpose a dam that will provide them with sustainable power. However, when they stumble upon a race of super-intelligent apes led by the powerful and noble Caesar, these two species are suddenly thrust back into the fold together and must once again learn how to live side by side, but with an animosity slowly building between the humans and the apes, it is only a matter of time before all-out war is declared. In 2011, a film called Rise of the Planet
in that we already have a strong emotional connection to the Caesar, so the film doesn’t have to waste time introducing him and instead utilises the opportunity to simply build upon everything we already know and love about him. Another advantage that Dawn has over Rise is the presence of a definitive villain. Sure, there are characters in Rise we loathe, but none of them even enter
of the Apes was released. Nobody particularly cared about it and many people didn’t really see the point in a further continuation of the long deceased Apes franchise...until they saw it. To everyone’s surprise, we were gifted with a thoughtful, intelligent and exhilarating blockbuster that perfectly balanced an emotional story and explosive action and I am happy to report that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes provides the same thrills its predecessor did; only amplified. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a perfect summer blockbuster; it’s big, it’s bold, it’s intelligent, it’s emotional, it’s disturbing and it’s ferociously action-packed. Whereas Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a slow build up to a huge payoff, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is all payoff. There is a simmering level of tension that it somehow manages to maintain throughout its entire runtime and will leave you with a sense of dread in the pit of your stomach as you watch the events unfold. Dawn has an unfair advantage over Rise
the same hemisphere as the villain of this piece. Caesar believes that humans and apes can co-exist peacefully and strives to achieve this union. However, there is another ape within Caesar’s ranks who has been left so scarred and tormented by humans that he has an intense and unwavering hatred for them. He believes that humans and apes cannot co-exist and therefore strives to make apes the superior race. In essence, he is the Anti-Caesar...and his name is Koba. Do you remember the terrifying, horrifically scarred Bonobo from Rise of the Planet of the Apes who gleefully pushes one of his tormentors of a bridge into his fiery death? Yeah, it’s him and he is a bona-fide lunatic. In fact, I’d even go as far as saying that he is the best movie villain in recent memory. As always, Andy Serkis is unbelievable. He truly is the go to guy for motion-capture performances and
his performance here is some of his best ever work. The level of humanity he brings to a performance in which he is imitating a Chimpanzee is phenomenal. Toby Kebbel gives a similarly astounding performance as the brutal and fearsome Koba. Caesar is the most relatable character in the entire movie and that is based solely on Andy Serkis’ unbelievable performance and the truly breathtaking work of Peter Jackson’s WETA Digital, who have crafted some of the best visual effects ever committed to film. As ridiculous as this may sound, the apes are so life-like and rich in character that you often forget that what you’re actually watching is grown men and women running around in skin-tight leotards with motion sensors all over them. It is extremely difficult to single out just one aspect of this film, as every department have come together flawlessly. The direction from Matt Reeve’s is fantastic, the cinematography from Michael Seresin is gorgeous and the score by Michael Giacchino is beautiful - not to mention the countless other departments who have all come together to create this perfect storm of blockbuster filmmaking. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is not just your run-of-the-mill blockbuster, made up of a paper thin plot and a high volume of explosions; it is a blockbuster with something to say, and it says it well. It is a cinematic event...and it’s an event you should all attend.

‘White Dee’s’ Column
umn, after a few very hard stressful weeks of no sleep, constant tantrums, screaming around the house, teenage hissy fits, Caitlin has finally finished her GCSE’s. I cant remember me being like that when i took my exams (a few years ago haha) but no doubt I was.
Hey Guys and Gals! Well im still hanging on in there and still trying to get used to all this hustle and bustle that’s surrounding me and the family, not too sure if I ever will though - but I’m gonna surf this wave and see where it takes me. Had a great day on Sunday at Planet Ice Coventry, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Charity - oh my days, haven’t been ice skating since I was about 14 years old and really didn’t hold much hope that I would actually stay standing upright - but I did, yay me.
my friends and a lot of people presume we live on take outs and junk food, not in my house. My kids have been brought up on fresh fruit and veg since they were babies, and thats mainly thanks to daddy dearest and his 4 allotments. One take out a week at a push for my gang. This experience was a million miles away from cooking at home,
watched eagerly by a french chef, as I prepared the veg and gutted the fish, yep I definitely like to get my hands in there when cooking. I must say even though I felt the pressure, I can stand the heat and will stay in the kitchen, dinner was served and they whooped it off, so I can safely say the French enjoyed my home made fish stew.
So congratulations to everyone out there who have finished their exams and studied hard, and await their results in August. I bet every woman out there with a child in Year 11 cannot believe their babies have grown up way to fast and have now officially left school. I wish you all the best for the future. Much love and until next time take care Dee

Took Gerrard with me and for someone who has never been ice skating in his life, he took off like an Olympic speed skater. Met some amazing people, we took part in an ice skating lesson, met some of the characters from Disney’s Frozen and above all made some well needed money for such a good cause. On another completely different end of the scale, I was invited to France to cook for a 80th Birthday party in a little bistro, called Chez Maebro in a small very beautiful village. A lot has been said about me and

on’t we all have multiple faces? Don’t we all portray ourselves in one way to some and another way to others? Or do we have one face with multiple sides? After a conversation with my friend about relationships she was firm on her decision to not have anything to do with her ex once they split but then when we were out with some other girls, including me, her decision was different! She explained that she loved him and always would no matter what and that she didn’t really want to split from him but that
there time was up! I was tremendously confused! So I asked her what was with the difference of stories. Her justification started with ‘them lot won’t go after him now they know I’m emotionally tied to him and they don’t know me and him like that to judge our situation. My once astounded face slowly started to soften into a face of ‘fairdo’. But then later on that day I asked myself ‘is she two-faced or what?’ Being two-faced is quite a negative critique of someone.

The hilarious weekly column Do we all not act one way in front of some and a different way in front of others? However smiling and chatting to someone in one breath then snarling and bitching about them in the next are two-different things and I guess this is where the two-facedness comes in. It’s hard trying to decipher twofacedness, why can’t we just be real with each other? Would you feel upset or angry if someone suddenly stopped talking to you? We have to just acknowledge that people are people and that mankind is flawed BUT once we have built a secure and bullet-
proof barrier around ourselves words, comments, face expressions, laughs and taunts that people may holler at you will just bounce off and disappear into oblivion. Please remember that WE are all entitled to our own OPINION, it’s our human right! But as we are humans with bones and blood and organs it can take some of us time to embrace the side of us that possesses feelings, compassion for others and their business so until then do yourself and others a favour and HUSH YA LIP!
