t has been announced that rapper Nicki Minaj will be the headline act for this year’s Wireless Festival, which, sources believe, could well be her only UK festival date for the year. It has also been revealed that she will be joined on the summer line-up by label mate Drake, who was a noshow at last year’s event due to a mystery illness.
Kendrick Lamar and Jessie J have also been confirmed to perform at the festival between Friday July 3 and Sunday July 5. This year’s Festival, in London’s Finsbury Park, marks the 10th anniversary of Wireless, which highlights some of the best artists that span the worlds of hip-hop, dance, R&B and UK garage.

Well its final night Friday 6th Feb and I’m kind of hoping Calum Best might win it.

ari Banks A
cclaimed international cricketer OMARI BANKS always harnessed two passions Sport & Music.
As a teenager his cricketing ability saw him excel and become an international Test Cricketer, representing the West Indies for 12 years and making history along the way as the first Anguillan to play Test Cricket for WI. Despite his success in sports, Omari never lost his passion for music. He was well known for travelling with his guitar and performing; even as he focused on cricket. After twelve years of traveling the world as a professional athlete, Omari made the decision to move on and pursue his passion for music. With a lifetime of experiences and life lessons, he immersed himself in songwriting and perfecting his musicianship. He dedicated himself to
his music and created his debut album, Move On. The 10-track album recorded in Kingston and Texas is a blend of Omari’s musical influences. Omari plays, sings, and writes his own songs. He also writes, arranges and produces the music that is filled with rich horns, snare drums, heavy bass and electric guitar chords and melodies that bring his words to life, setting him apart from most contemporary Reggae artists. With contributions from such reggae luminaries as Glen Browne, Robbie Lyn, Sly Dunbar and Stephen “Cat’ Coore of Third World, this album is steeped in reggae legend and endorsement. The lead track sees Omari team up with Peetah Morgan (lead singer of Morgan Heritage) for “No Point To Prove”. With a clear international feel, the appeal of the track is clear - great rhythm and melody as well as strong reggae production. Omari is focused on his journey in 2014. “I want to take my music to an international market because I have an opinion based on knowledge and information. I want to use the gifts I’ve been blessed with to have a positive influence on people. Being someone who has already travelled the world with sports, I’m able to have a broader perspective than a lot of other people. I can communicate to all levels of thinking from a child to an adult and my music is ageless and really touches lives because the stories are true and talk about what’s really going on”

SELMA T he opening scene will leave your stomach churning and your appetite dry. FORTHWITH! That is what happened to me as I sat, popcorn in lap, cola in hand. Then... BOOM!!! An almighty explosion had drink and popcorn spilling in all directions as my heart was left pounding at an alarming rate. ‘Selma,’ the film of the struggle for voting rights for Black people in 1960s America, made me realise how much Dr. Martin Luther King gave of himself, his struggle to, and victory in, connecting races, faiths and communities, in the light of the tyranny he faced. Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the march on Selma, it showed
us how all faiths eventually connected back then, and how today, together we can move mountains. A remarkable film, nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Picture category, where every actor, led by the remarkable Oxford-born Brit, David Oyelowo, producers, Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt, director Ava DuVernay, writer Paul Webb and the rest of the team deserve credit and I salute them all for a 1st class adaptation of the life and times of the King era. One comment, from stingdem.com’s DJ Countryman, said: “An outstanding production that deserves every accolade coming its way. It took seven years to get ‘Selma’ off the ground because no director thought
a film about Martin Luther King would make any money. Today, the blockbusting movie is a ‘MUST SEE,’ for all communities, from every cultural background.” As we left the theatre, we, instinctively, repeated: “I AM MARTIN LUTHER KING!”

absolutely this LOVE this word and I enjoy saying it too, not malisciously of course, but I do love it!
When something is NO GOOD for you, NO! When something is not able to be accomodated right now, NO! When something is just not for you, NO! And when you just don’t like it, NO! It can be offensive to some but can be empowering to you! Why are we classed as uncompromising individuals when we say NO? If you are being abrupt and viscious without thinking about it or weighing up the options and outcomes then you really need to ask yourself but, why, NO? Is it because you lack trust? You want to hold on to what you have? Because you liter-
