GRIMEY NEWS
Live Long and Prosper T his week we learned of the death of Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played the iconic character, Spock, in the equally iconic and original Star Trek. The star who passed away, at the age of 83, played the Vulcan during the programme’s heydays, in the 1960s and 70s, as well as film versions of what has become a global phenomenon. He even returned to the franchise to play Spock Prime in the JJ Abrams directed Star Trek remake in 2009. Even in his death, we say; “Live long and prosper.”
LaToya Jackson is NOT engageD
S
he showed off a dazzling 17-carat diamond engagement ring from 46-year-old business partner Jeffré Phillips. But on now, LaToya Jackson says: “We are not engaged anymore.” To make things even weirder, the 58-year-old
singer was in the company of her ex when they left Mastro’s steakhouse in Beverly Hills, even taking off in the same luxury car. LaToya - sister of the late pop legend Michael Jackson - was very clear with her statement to the website. Weird!
GRIMEY NEWS
Bobbi Partner, Nick, Calls Bobby Brown ‘A Joke’
I
t seams that Bobby Brown and Nick Gordon are continue to take shots at each other as Bobbi Kristina remains in the hospital. Gordon’s recent twitter rant against Bobbi’s father, Brown, claimed that he is only interested in the 21-year-old’s money. Nick also publicly called out Bobby for only seeing his daughter ‘4 times in the last 5 years and even called him ‘a joke.’ It’s no secret that Bobby Brown, 46, and Nick Gordon do not get along, but on Feb, 23, Nick showed his disdain his Bobbi Kristina‘s father by taking to Twitter to put him on blast for being by Bobbi’s side in the hospital “for publicity.” While Nick may not believe the love and support that the Brown family is showing Bobbi as she remains in the hospital, her grandmother, Cissy Houston has been by
her side and has been doing very sweet things like “combing Krissy’s hair.” “Krissy use to give Cissy foot massages when she was young girl becauseCissywould complain that her feet were hurting and
Krissy would gently rubher grandmother’s feet with Jergen’s lotion,” our insider exclusively revealed. “Cissy‘s now returning that favor because she knows Bobbi Kristina is in pain and is hoping her hands will sooth her.”

et another busy month, and another hopefully interesting column.
of its time - then boooom everything changed and was uprooted to our capital city.
Back in the olden days (as my children keep referring to my childhood days haha) Birmingham was at the centre of the media hustle and bustle, we had the BBC at Pebble Mill and ITV on Broad Street.
Well this week, Broadcasting is coming back to the Midlands, in the form of Big Centre TV, a new channel launching this week on freeview channel 8, it will include news, entertainment, music, health and fitness and all things relevant and local to our fabulous city.
We had the good old Sports Argos for all those football fans, Crossroads one of the biggest soaps
Another good point is that the new channel is
based in a media college in Walsall, so the students there get a hands on experience in the field they have chosen to pursue as a career - so lets all wish them well. Oh yeah, and it will include me haha I was interviewed for a new shop called CUPPA TV (now how could I turn that down hehe). SO already we are flying through 2015 at what seems like the speed of lightning - my how time flies and I must admit I have still kept one of my new years resolutions going, which was to keep fit. I hit the gym a couple of times a week, pump some iron, and show these pumped up bodies how its done dee style haha. Well lets just say Dee style is a work in progress, but so far, 3 stone lighter and 2 dress sizes down, a lot of aches and pains, and moans and groans but its something im going to stick to and who knows
this time next year (maybe a size 0) - nahhhhhhhh not my style! Tis the season for parents evenings - so along I went to Caitlins (after being banned from attending the last one due to kind of being well known now) kids eh, and WOW WOW WOW what a proud mom I am right now! Fantastic reports off all her teachers, 100% attendance, all coursework done and handed in on time. It makes you as proud as punch to hear people talking about your kids in such a positive way - so lets see what this week brings when its Gerrards turn. On a closing note - I would again like to thank you all for your support and letters, so I am finally going to be heading into the office where I am going to make the time to reply to you all x So for now - its goodbye from me Love Dee x

n an awards season which openly continue to highlight the issue of exclusion over inclusion, in regards to Britain's Black and multi ethnic diverse population-more so now than ever before-the presence of the BEDSAs was a refreshing necessity where it gave Black and Asian athletes the chance to shine and be recognised for their outstanding achievements.
In the E.ON Lounge, at Coventry City's Ricoh Arena, the very best of Britain's Black and Asian athletes celebrated their contribution to the success of sport in the UK as the Lycamobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards did their bit, focussing on inclusion over exclusion. And at the lavish black-tie event, every sportsperson present proved winners as,
to get things going, England's Commonwealth Games silver medal table-tennis champion, Tin Tin Ho, will go down in the record books, receiving the first award of a highly successful evening-the Youth Sport Trust Young Sports Person Of The Year award. Whilst out to inspire future generation, the ceremony recognised the contribution of sport towards increasing participation, social cohesion and promoting excellence in multicultural Britain; providing the perfect platform to recognising the contribution of grassroots achievement in business, coaching, leadership and diversity which are important for future participation. A strategically planned event, compered by EastEnders' Coventry-born Nitin Ganatra-fresh from playing Masood Ahmed
in the historic week-long live televising of the show-saw an equally historical evening which was a 'who's who?' of British sporting excellence on a clean, concise and punctual night out with the stars. Attended by an array of sporting elite, including former Olympic gold medal winning heptathlete, Denise Lewis, Fauja Singh, the world's oldest participating marathon runner, former Aston Villa, Liverpool, Rangers and England footballer Mark Walters, wheelchair rugby star, Mandip Sehmi, Queens Park Rangers' 'dream team' management duo, Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand, plus the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Hazel Noonan, Sports Minister Helen Grant MP, and many more, the event, co-founded by charitable partner Sporting Equal, proved the perfect way to bring awareness of the talents in today's ethnically diverse UK and galvanise a pool of talent in the next generation. In receiving her Jaguar Lifetime Achievement Award, Denise Lewis said: "An event of this kind is a long time coming. You never stop being inspired by other people and anything is possible and my message to young people is that dreams can come true." Huddersfield Town Manager, Chris Powell's FA Coach of the Year award was presented by Chris Ramsey - the Premier League's only Black manager - and Les Ferdinand. Former England defender Powell was absent from the event but his award was accepted by FA Council and Inclusion Advisory Board member, Paul Elliott. "I want to pay tribute to a wonderful individual in Chris Powell,” said former Chelsea, Celtic, Pisa and Aston Villa player, Elliot. "In addition the impact of the two men presenting this award, in Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand, cannot be understated. The message it sends out to young aspiring Black and Asian coaches is one of real positivity." The Lycramobile Sportsman Of The Year award went to Birmingham-born England Test and OneDay batsman, Mooen Ali, while GB gymnast, Beckie Downie, received the Sporting Equals Sportswoman Of The Year gong. The County Sports Partnership Network's Unsung Hero award went out to cyclist, Maryam Amatullah, whilst the ECB Behind the Scenes Award went to Leicester City football coach Annie
Zaidi and the very special England Athletics' Special Recognition Award went to marathon runner, Fauja Singh, who, at 103, is the oldest competitor in the world-having started running at the 'tender' age of 89. Wolverhampton GP, Dr Kamran Ahmed, took the ECB Behind the Scenes Award, The Sport England Community Sports Project went to the One World Sports boxing gym in Sheffield and the UK Sport Inspirational Performance of the Year Award went to wheelchair-bound weight lifter, Ali Jawad.
Former West Bromwich Albion and England defender, Brendon Batson OBE, and Chair of Sporting Equals, said: “ Sadly, in 2015, something like this (BEDSAs) is necessary, to celebrate the major roles played by Black and Asian sports people in multi cultural Britain today. The BEDSAs is here to highlight the massive inclusions in British sport and on this massive scale. A truly fantastic occasion for all involved. Arun Kang, CEO of Sporting Equals, said: “As the first of its kind, these BEDSAs proved to be the perfect way to honour the best of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic athletes as well as projects and people that support participation sport from grassroot, to elite level. These awards will create a lasting sporting legacy for future generations, encouraging a more multicultural inclusion in the playing and running of all sports.” Helen Grant MP, who promotes grass-roots development as well as diversity at elite sport and boardroom level, said: “I was delighted to attend the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards. It was important that we celebrate and inspire Britain's younger generation who may not yet have seen the benefits of sport to be the best they can be at whatever they do. I congratulate the organisers for arranging a fantastic evening.” No profanities, no expletives, no tripping up over dresses. An auspicious, well turned-out, highly respected occasion, The first Lycamobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards was the best example of inclusion in action, in multi-cultural Great Britain, in the 21st century. A template for other award shows – televised, or otherwise – to follow. A special mention has to go out to Leo Saggo who operated as floor manager for Mahirs Experience on the evening – responsible for the smooth running of a memorable night. A fantastically heart-felt contribution to a special night for all.

fter one of the women in her chronic pain support group commits suicide, Claire Simmons (Jennifer Aniston) becomes obsessed with trying to uncover the reasons behind her suicide, all while trying to cope with her own very raw personal tragedy. Daniel Barnz, a director with only a handful of credits to his name, delivers this peculiar little movie about pain, both emotional and physical. I call it a peculiar little movie because it's hard to believe that a film moving at a pace as slow as this one is as engaging as Cake manages to be; but here we are. What makes this film so engaging is that it's relatable. We have all experienced pain and loss in one way or another; whether through physical pain, heartbreak or the death of a loved one, the themes that are addressed and confronted in this movie are ones we can all associate with. What makes the whole thing more engaging are the performances, which are absolutely fantastic from everyone involved. Sam Worthington, a man often criticised for his wooden performances and lack of on-screen charisma, actually delivers a strong performance here and is perfectly believable as a grieving young widow trying to take care of his young son. Adriana Barraza, who plays Claire Simmon's
friend and housekeeper Silvana, gives a wonderfully passionate performance as the feisty Hispanic housekeeper. In fact, I truly believe her performance was worthy of an Oscar nomination and I find it unfair that we live in a world where Meryl Streep can get a nomination for her performance in the staggeringly mediocre Into The Woods, yet Barraza is completely ignored for her touching and engaging performance in Cake. I suppose we live in a world where Meryl Streep is nominated for an Academy Award purely because she's Meryl Streep. Surely that's the only explanation, because as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing particularly special about her performance in Into The Woods, but I digress. The real star here is of course Jennifer Aniston, who delivers a tour-deforce performance that's unlike anything we've ever seen from her before. It's quite a remarkable feat that will change the way you view Rachel from Friends. It's a deep, multilayered performance filled with subtle nuances and utter anguish. Cake is a slow movie and there's not much here in terms of story other than a simple plot that follows a handful of characters trying to come to terms with their very real, very human problems, but even so, it remains a powerful, highly engaging and quietly uplifting little movie.

absolutely this LOVE this word and I enjoy saying it too, not malisciously of course, but I do love it!
When something is NO GOOD for you, NO! When something is not able to be accomodated right now, NO! When something is just not for you, NO! And when you just don’t like it, NO! It can be offensive to some but can be empowering to you! Why are we classed as uncompromising individuals when we say NO? If you are being abrupt and viscious without thinking about it or weighing up the options and outcomes then you really need to ask yourself but, why, NO? Is it because you lack trust?
