GRIMEY Did Louis find another direction?

T

he 21 year-old One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson signs for Doncaster Rovers. One of the reasons why Rovers signed Louis is because the singer is born in Doncaster and when he was younger he played in the Sunday league football. Now he’s been given the number 28 shirt and is going to play for the 2013-14 season. He signed a noncontract saying that he will not be getting paid for the games he is playing because he wants to do it in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Sheffield. Louis told the Championship clubs website that “This has always been a childhood dream of mine.” He also added “I am very honoured to have been asked to sign to Rovers and being able to help both the club and the charity; that’s what it’s all about.” We know the One Direction lads are successful, heartthrobs, wealthy, and popular but if I told you that the lads would be worth £60 million EACH after they release their latest album would you believe me? Well you better start believing me. The money would be coming from

6

the album that they would be releasing later on this year. The boys didn’t write their first two albums but this latest one would be written by them and most of the money would be coming from their writing credit. It’s said that those that write the songs get more money than those that just sing. When the boys first started out they had everything done for them, but now they are thinking it’s time to give their fans something special like their own song that they wrote themselves. When this album goes out the band could well be the wealthiest Boyband around.

Chris Brown to quit hits for flicks?

C

hris Brown wants to quit music because he says he tired of being famous for a ‘mistake’ he done when he was 18 referring to when he abused Rihanna. The singer took to his Twitter to announce to the world that he’s thinking of quitting music after he releases his last album ‘X.’ He has already starred in a number of films, including the most recent movie, Battle of the Year, which is coming out in November in the UK. Chris Brown’s sixth album ‘X’ will be out in store on the 20th of August so make sure to put that in your diary Chris Brown’s fans. Other artists including JAY Z said they were going to retire but JAY Z came back to the music industry in 2006 and later admitted “It was the worst retirement in history.” So would Chris keep his word or would he come back to the music industry in the future? No one knows but we wish him luck with whatever he decides to do.

IS Lady GAGA TOO SKINNY?

year ago the 27 year-old singer was getting slaughtered about being ‘fat’ and now she’s getting criticised for being too skinny. Gaga sparked concerns because of her recent weight loss of 30lb; even her fans are now urging her to put the weight back on after seeing her latest V Magazine shoot. Her fans already started commenting on twitter with one of her fans tweeting “I guess Lady Gaga dropped her whole ‘Body Revolution’ when she got skinny again. Another fan of hers tweeted “I don’t want Gaga to be as skinny as she was in the ‘Fame Monster Era’ because it’s just unhealthy and she looked so much nicer during the ‘Born This Way Ball’ ugh I’m sad now.”I guess you better listen to your fans Gaga because they do know best.

T

he rock star Sir Paul lost ownership of the publishing rights to his songs to the ‘Thriller’ star when the former ‘King of Pop’ bought the band’s famous music for £31million. Sir Paul was left angry after the former friend Michael Jackson who the Beatles front man teamed up with in 1983 song ‘Say, Say, Say’ outbid him to buy the back catalogue over 30 years ago. A source said “Paul has been fuming for decades over this. It is as much personal as it is business and finally after years his getting back what’s rightfully his.” He was also saddened and disappointed when the rights to his music were not left to him in Jackson’s will following the tragic death in 2009.

JAMES ARTHUR GOES URBAN!

W

inning X factor normally doesn’t always guarantee a number one selling album, however the winner of the X Factor last year James Arthur has made a suggestion that his album is going to completely different from previous victors, what he means by that is he feels his album is going to have more of an urban street feel to it. You go Arthur. James will be collaborating with Naughty Boy, one of the hottest producers on the planet at the moment not only having a single that is on everyone’s mind. He has announced that some of the songs he’s worked with on James Arthur’s debut album will surprise fans describing the tracks as “ Poppy with an edge and a bit urban” It’s great to finally see someone from X Factor doing what they want to do for their album. So hats off for James trying something new for the victors on X Factor. James revealed the title to his next single will be named You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You.

he 40 year old rapper claimed he will never rap again and that he wanted to spend more time with his family, well he’s back to his music yet again realising a new single called Survival. I was starting to think where did he go? Considering the music industry is missing out on someone like him as Jay Z is smashing the Rap/urban music industry, we need more of a competition within that genre of element, Survival will also be featuring on his upcoming either studio album, Survival will be the official sound track for the new Call of duty: Ghosts Video game. It’s great to see the master in action is back to what he does best!

Manchester united Crowned Community Sheild Champions!

oyes was victorious beating Wigan Athletic to his first piece of silverware since taking over Sir Alex at the start of the year. I was initially surprised and shocked when it was announced that David Moyes, the ex Everton manager was going to be managing Manchester United this season, yet his way of managing is unique and has incredible potential nevertheless. It’s understandable why the old school Manchester United fans are nervous for David Moyes as he is a type of manager to give the youngsters an opportunity with the likes of the new boy Zaha. David Moyes has also stated that he wants to keep hold of Robin Van Persie for as long as possible which is understandable considering he not only scored 2 in the Community Shield victory but was also the top scorer last season, including scoring a magnificent goal against Aston Villa near the end of the previous season which crowned Manchester United as champions.

Will Bale Leave?

T

he transfer windows produces many rumours every year about a number of the top players, but the major one this year was Gareth Bale. Will he leave Spurs, or will he remain in London for another season. Spanish giants Real Madrid reportedly placed an £80million offer for Bale, but Tottenham are determined to keep the Welshman in their ranks, even though Bale has allegedly claimed to have told the chairman at Spurs that he wants to play for Real. As we’ve seen before, going to the continent can be brilliant for your career, just look at David Beckham. The same can’t be said of former England frontman Michael Owen, so there is always that flipside to moving.

Keep an eye out for deadline day of the transfer window coming up soon!

TAKING BACK THE STREETS

irmingham’s Kings Heath was the venue as local children and young people got the chance for a day of playing in and around the streets of their neighbourhood, with parents and guardians taking the opportunity to get to know each other and make new friends. ‘Playful Places’ saw three roads; Albert Road, Goldsmith Road and Woodville Road, closed for activities from; dancing to face painting, blowing bubbles, skipping, a mini swimming pool and writing exercises provided by the Parks for Play team and led by Music Shakers and Kings Heath Library. Organized by; Louise Palfreyman, Lucia Hogg and Sue Smith (all pictured below) with Moseley and Kings Heath residents, it follows the success of a similar event, in Bristol, where 30 streets were closed and it is now a regular on the city’s calendar. “This was our first day in Birmingham, but we would

like to start doing it on monthly bases and close more roads,” said Lucie, who organised activities on Goldsmith Road. “This was an opportunity for neighbours to meet and for the children to take control of the streets.” Local resident, Yvonne Baum said: “You can’t play on the roads anymore. It would be nice to see children skipping and boys playing marbles. It’s wonderful to see the parents and children playing and having fun.” Councillor John Cotton, Cabinet Member Social Cohesion and Equalities, Birmingham City Council said: “Birmingham Social Inclusion Process highlighted the importance of children and young people having the space and opportunity to play. Playful Places is an excellent example of how residents and voluntary organisations are working together with the Council to provide exciting opportunities for young people.

We went out into Birmingham, to the Bullring, Pigeon Park, Aston University, and the Pallasades to take pictures of all the new and unique trends that the people of Birmingham are wearing today. Being out with the public was a very interesting experience. There were a few outfits really stood out for me like these ones below.

E L Y T S T E E R T S Name: Stephanie Age: 26 Occupation: Sales Assistant at Top Shop Where do you buy your clothes from? Vintage Shops Have you got any fashion icons/ inspiration? No, not really. I just wear what I like. As you can see Stephanie’s outfit is very vintage with her own touch. You can see that this outfit is very simple and very comfortable; a simple vest, to, shorts and boots is all she’s wearing yet Stephanie is making it work.

Name: Isaac Age: 17 Occupation: College Where do you buy your clothes from? Online Have you got any fashion icons/ inspirations? Kanye West Boys don’t really have to think about the clothes they want to wear as much as girls because style comes naturally to them same as with Isaac, I love the easy, effortless style.

Name: Isabelle Age: 17 Occupation: College Where do you buy your clothes? Zara Have you get any fashion icons/ inspiration? No, I look at what other people wear. I love Isabelle’s outfit because it’s so dressed down yet so classy. Her orange trousers really go well with her skin tone. This is yet another simple look, big coats and jackets are not needed for this outfit it looks flawless.

Name: Mitchell Age: 18 Occupation: working at Dudley Zoo Where do you buy your clothes from? Topman Have you got any fashion icons/inspirations? Jason Mraz

Mitchell is so cool I love his look because it just looks like he’s not really bothered about what his wearing, it’s like he just got up put anything on and left. The best part is that we got to watch him play his guitar. He doesn’t have to do anything else to his look; he looks good just how he is.

Approves Name: Eliot Age: 19 Occupation: Student Where do you buy you clothes from? Online Have you got any fashion icons/ inspirations? No, I am my own inspiration This is your typical boys outfit casual comfortable. It just works for him. Mixing two different colours together works if you know which colours to combine; I love how Eliot combined the two colours that he did because they are so working for him.

Name: Carla Age: 20 Occupation: Student Where do you buy your clothes from? Online Have you got any fashion icons/ inspirations? andy Store Clothing is a unique style of men's clothing that has been creating a disturbance within the United Kingdom for a while. It's having a unique yet fashionable and especially affordable styles. Since it's conception The Candy Store has been a driving force within and around the UK urban lifestyle scene. Here at Street Cred we embrace the urban unique style and adore the passion that holds on through the fan base that is Candy Store clothing. They're a flood of fanatics of this pocket in Hip-Hop and fashion culture hit the flagship store as a sort of 'Pilgrimage'. I find it incredible how urban clothing is adored by many individuals across all ages. You don't have to be a specific age to wear their clothing. For Candy Store clothing it's become a cornerstone for the United Kingdom street wear movements, however it doesn't stop at the heart of Birmingham, oh no! They opened a second store in Berwick Street which is directly at the heart of central London. Having a store in two big cities is pretty impressive, considering

many years ago it was frowned upon to be seen wearing urban clothing, only for the prime example it contained the bad name image,

however they couldn't have been more wrong. Candy Store clothing gives back the comfortable feel about

wearing urban clothing, because they’re so incredible and amazing pieces of clothing that are literally adored by anyone and everyone. I feel the reason why their stores are so impressive especially in London is because the area falls within the street wear 'hub' if you will, with surrounding landmarks such as Supreme, Kinoko custom Cycles, Hideout, Bape and Foot Patrol to name a few. The reason I say they're the reason for it's success is because it's by famous brands therefore if you see a new shop opening up with some styles of clothing's you would enjoy wearing at a cheaper price, you would start attending there. It's clear they're beloved around the world isn't no question about it, the way I physically see it is that Candy Store clothing is going getting stronger. I feel the UK needed a clothing store like this as now we can sit back and say our clothing is finally improving. Not only is the store a great addition to London and serves as one of if not the only street wear boutique to stock a

ark Wahlberg & Denzel Washington have teamed up in an all time action packed thriller which set to be one of the most intense story lines so far in 2013. Blake Masters & Steven Grant look to have written an amazing script. Directed by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur who also produced Marks smash hit movie Contraband. This movie is based around the comic series of the same name by Boom! The story is based around a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer who have been tasked with investigating one another find they have

been set up by the mob. The very organization the two men believe they have been stealing money from. I feel it’ll be a great addition to the movies listings of 2013 as you’ve got two of the biggest names in the filming industry. They are seemed to be admired and adored around the world. The budget for this blockbuster is $90 million so be prepared for an outstanding performance nevertheless. It has always been on everyone’s wish lists to witness these two in action together, so everyone’s dreams have finally came true! Having recently seeing Denzel nominated for a

number of awards one of them being Best Actor at the Oscars back in February of this year. I’m physically prepared for this film being an ultimate blockbuster containing explosions, witty comments and car chases, to count just a few. It’s going to be a sensational experience you wouldn’t want to miss out on something so extraordinary, with this team never having been seen before. I’m a massive fan of both of these Hollywood legends so it’ll be interesting to see how they interact with each other on film. What are you waiting for?! The movie is out now!

he absolutely beautiful Rachel McAdams in another pulling on the heartstrings movie role as the storyline is absolutely incredible. It sees a character named Tim, played by Domhnall Gleeson who is best known for his role in Harry Potter as Bill Weasley, discovers he can travel in time and change what and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his word a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think. Directed by the highly talented Richard Curtis who also directed the likes of ‘The Boat that Rocked’ & ‘Love Actually’ two very recommended British movies to date which is pretty incredible. Rachel McAdams played Allie in The Notebook so I have no doubt in mind she’ll perform a high standard performance just like her role within The Notebook. About time it’s going to be an interesting movie considering it’s engaged a incredible storyline thanks to Richard Curtis for the screen play. It’s going to be one to remember I’m sure.

W

hilst this film didn’t make me laugh as much as its predecessor, it is still highly entertaining, family fun. The minions are featured far more prominently than in the first which, for children at least, is excellent. The laughs that the minions produced from the younger members of the audience were loud and genuine. However, there is only so much of their nonsense that an older audience member can tolerate. Personally, the biggest laughs once again came from the youngest daughter, Agnes. Some of the things that she comes out with are hysterical and the enthusiasm of the young actress who voices the character is admirable. Whilst I still enjoyed this film, it’s neither as funny or as sweet as the original; but children will love it. 7/10

BigScreen written by Antony Brown

T

he performances and the relationship between Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy drive this very funny, highly entertaining movie. They have wonderful chemistry that elevates this movie to more than just a simple buddy-cop comedy. Everything that comes out of Melissa McCarthy’s mouth is pure gold. The diluted, Mike and

Molly version of McCarthy truly doesn’t do this woman justice as when she is given the freedom to truly flex her comedic muscle, she is truly a sight to behold. If you need a break from all of the enormous budget summer blockbusters, then The Heat is exactly what you need. 8/10

E

dgar Wright has accomplished something that very few filmmakers have accomplished before; he has made a perfect trilogy. This movie is pure joy, from start to finish. From the opening scene to the final frame, this movie doesn’t miss a single step. It is perfectly written, with Wright and Pegg’s trademark, fast paced, relentless comedy. The audience is bombarded with laughs. However, there is a lot more to this film than laughs. There is also a lot of emotion here that raises this film above other comedies and makes

it feel very real, despite the ridiculous events that are transpiring. The cast are awesome and every single one of them is given time to shine. However, the standouts for me were, unsurprisingly, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. These two have some of the best chemistry that has ever been captured on film and it shows. Their banter, their reactions, their body language; it all fits together perfectly just as it did in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. They bring out the best in each other and it’s a joy to watch them bounce off of one another. Whilst I’m sad that it’s over, The World’s End is a great way to end the trilogy. 10/10

Cover Story When did you first discover a major passion for music? When I was about 17 I discovered this music program. I was just starting to play around with it just like what any inexperienced person would do, and this music was potentially being something I'm really good at. So I kept on going from there and the passion just grew. What's been your biggest achievement to date? My biggest achievement? Well probably still being alive I guess haha. Well no, the last 7-8 years have just been nonstop, travelling around, partying, singing, performing so it's not my biggest achievement I guess it's just good genes haha. But for me my biggest achievement is being at UK number 1 because it's only what a few people have done so I guess that's my biggest achievement. If there was a musician out there you would love to do a collaboration with who would it be and why? Chucky or Afro-jack because their production and their drops are like just so amazing I can recognise their production by just listening, I just know it. They have a unique way of mixing their tracks, well it's hard for me to understand how they did it. In that way it would be really cool to collaborate, and I think it would turn out pretty good. You're a massive icon around the world and have enJOYED success with your previous albums. So What are we to expect from your new album? The new album has a good mix of pretty much everything that I've ever produced. Some of the tracks sound like old school basic stuff really the type I produced like 8-9 years ago, but it's also like all the years I've been playing around with a lot of new sounds so it's a lot of electro house and Dutch house. Just high energy songs, it's a mix of different styles and each song is different you wont hear the same sound across the songs, so it's a very interesting album.

50

If there was a movie based about your life, who would you like to play you? Haha. Well that's a tough one. I don't know, I don't think anyone could play me as I'm way too hyper and well crazy. I can't see a big actors doing that. You appeared in Celebrity Big brother in 2010. what was the whole experience like, being in the house with the likes of Vinnie Jones & Sisqo? I actually prepared myself mentally especially for it, you know what I thought it would be like, with the way I expected but I just had a lot of fun. A lot more fun than I thought. Yeah Vinnie Jones he's maybe not my favourite actor but I like to see him in movies especially in Hollywood movies because he's like the mean British guy They assumed that if they bring him in they thought everyone would obey to this guy. It was very useful having someone like him in the house actually because he cleaned the toilets in the house for the whole month. Haha. What's the most random thing you've been given by a fan? I think it was in Birmingham a guy came up to me with a big pink dildo with my name on it. I think it might have been used as well. How did you come up with the name Basshunter? I guess I wanted a name that would describe my music. When I was a kid I was listening to a lot of trance and underground production. Every track had a massive bassline and went straight into my favourite folder I love bassline so Basshunter, kind of made sense you know.

Cover Story

“My biggest achievement is being at UK number 1 51

Cover Story Where's the best destination you've performed at? Ha. I've done 1,000 shows in 53 countries so it's hard to pick one. I don't know I can't answer that as every show is a new experience even if I've been there before. It doesn't matter what country I'm in because everything is special in it's own way. What or who inspires you to create the music you create? The people. For example yesterday I was out in a club I was just sitting in a corner with a couple of friends I was just watching people and I see this guy and a girl and the girl looked so innocent and sweet and this guy looked big macho fully flexing his muscles and I’m just thinking if they had a relationship how would that be? How would their life look like? And I wrote a song about that so that’s how I get my inspiration I don’t listen to music, I just go out and look at people and analyse what they’re doing and how they do it, and just pull my inspiration for my music from there.

“I‘m very lucky to be where I am today, it’s surreal, I just can’t describe it”

52

What are some positives about being a beloved musician world wide? First of I get to do what I love to do for a living, not many are lucky enough to do that, which is absolutely great. I've never really been a relationship kind of guy so this lifestyle is perfect for me. I guess you never get bored as everyday it's something new, you don't fit the same place all the time you just get to travel around and meet a lot of cool people. Out of all the singles you've made and created over the years what's been your favourite to date? Lets just say my favourite production that I've ever made hasn't been released yet I produced it a year ago, but it's different and it's not on the new album but once I've finished it I'm just going to get it out so lets just say the best thing I've ever produced hasn't been released yet.

Cover Story When is the next time you’re touring in the UK? Probably going to come over in late august and September time I'll be in the UK what was the message you were trying to convey in Your single Crash & Burn? Me and my friend, my friend that sings on the track, I just called him and asked him if he wanted to sit down and do some singing and song writing so he flew over to Dubai to stay with me for two weeks. When we wrote that track we just sat down and he was humming a lot of it. And suddenly said “crash and burn. I kinda pictured myself as a child in a dark bedroom that this child was really scared, he was being scared of the dark and thinking of a shining light, which it's exactly what this child wants so that's kind of how the perception of how scared a child is. Like your mom comes into the room and turns on the light and makes all those horrors go. Which was what I wanted the song to be about. Hows does it feel to live every boys dream by creating music videos with loads of beautiful women and performing around the world? Haha, well I mean it's amazing of course I mean I'm very lucky to be where I am today, It's surreal, I just can't describe it, well it's just amazing. But it's also hard work I mean as they're couple of things that we can't have what I have right now. I mean everything comes with a price but urm, this life has to be defined as fine to me. Like I've never had any routines and I'm not really a relationship kind of guy and I like to work solo so it's pretty well assigned for my kind of life style.

What's been your favourite single you've had the most fun creating? On the new album there is a track called You're Not Alone, that was really fun creating because we were just having a party at my place as an after party and we went out into the studio playing around with some sounds, and I told everyone that we were gonna write a song in ten minutes. So I took this melody that I made, and I looped it over and over again and I was like okay we are going to write the song each one of us is gonna write something in ten minutes then after ten minutes we stop then in ten minutes we have to record it. And sing it. And put it together. So that track was roughly made in ten minutes on and off the party which was quite amazing.

Where do you see your career within the next 12 months? Urm my career within the next 12 months well, I have a couple of aces up my sleeve so lets just say the next 12 months is probably going to be the most exciting time of my life. Lets just say I have a lot of side projects that I can't wait to see what happens and hit the market. Right now I'm working with a talented someone at the moment I'm not going to say who knows maybe you will hear it on the radio sometime soon. Everyone has different descriptions about the specific genre of music you create, what genre of music would you say it is? The big categories that you can put me under well I produce Dance music but in a way everything right now is dance music. Like 90% of the music today is dance, like R&B today is dance music but I always see myself as hard core dance producer. But right now I'm just a producer and I write depending on what mood I'm in. The only way to categorise myself would be dance music. Well electronic dance music. It sounds a bit boring to say that because how can you compare for example my new single Calling Time that's dance music and Swedish House Mafia that's all dance music but all different styles. But personally don't think people care about that any more. What's your favourite Album of all time? I can assure you one of my favourite albums is definitely not one of my albums ha, but my favourite album is Across the Universe – Justice. It’s an absolutely brilliant album. I think it's just every time I listen to that album I hear new things and I've heard it like so many times. Who is your favourite producer? I would say my favourite producer are the guys who inspired me to produce the music I kind of produce I don't know if you've heard of them but Warp Brothers is the music I grew up with and I think without that music I wouldn’t have produced what I produce today so guess they’re my favourite.

ANTICS

Trainer Anthony Nyman And olympian Andrew Turner talk about their new venture What Sort of celebrities have you trained with in the past? Anthony - I’ve trained with obviously Andy himself as he’s getting ready for the Olympics. Also there is a guy from EastEnders that I trained with a couple of times a week so yeah. For someone that’s looking to become an Olympian themselves what sort of work out training would you recommend for them. Andy - You need to find a combination that works to be an athlete ,but it has to be a mixture between weight training and doing hard work on the track. You need to look at diet as well and you need to have a hard mind set. Even if it’s cold and raining out you

need to be able to get out there to get the job done. What’s the key thing to keeping your client motivated? Anthony - I think the main thing is consistency. There is no correct way of training that works for everybody, so the key really is to work with the person find whether they’re sort of the person to be encouraged continually or someone who needs to be told they’ve got to pull their finger out. Whatever the client can be consistent with is probably the best way of training, and obviously together the training regime and a nutrition plan for their goals.

You’ve had an incredible career, 4 golds, 1 Silver medal & 3 bronze medals. how does that feel knowing you’ve achieved so much? Andy - You know what, I’m never happy I mean it’s absolutely amazing to win a gold medal standing on the podium and to hear your national anthem play but you know with being an athlete you’ll never be satisfied with your achievements! I mean even when I won my gold I still look at the race and point out ah that went wrong or this went wrong it’s kind of frustrating because you’re always looking for that perfect win. That gold medal is the ultimate target and like when you go for a championship and take home one of the biggest prizes then clearly what your doing in training and what you’ve been working towards is paying off and all going in the right direction. What is antics? Anthony - Touching on what I said about there not being a way of training that works for everybody, Antics is a full body work out. It’s predominantly body weight stuff so a lot of squats, lunges, press ups, sit ups and

harder variations of all of them, but it’s something like a circuit format as well. But where it changes slightly is that in between each actual station we’ll do a drill together. It’s all done to music, so the idea really is fun, it’s hard it’s as hard as you want it to be but the main thing is that it’s fun because it can’t be one or the other. It can’t be just difficult and it can’t be just fun it needs to be difficult because you need to gain results but it needs to be fun to get people to get that consistency to keep coming back. Andy - Ultimately our clients leave tired but with a smile on their face, and they all talk about the music that we play. It’s not traditional hard core house you hearing in gyms we’ve got cheesy music, we’ve got motivational music, we’ve got everything there. We’ll have them dancing and doing the movements and you know everyone will leave tired but with a huge smile on their face. Anthony - We actually had someone who wore a heart rate monitor the other day she burnt 906 calories in under an hour so it’s incredible and it’s intense so hopefully we’ve got that right mix of intensity but also good fun as well. Who came up with the idea for Antics? Anthony - Well it was a joint effort really wasn’t it? Andy - Anthony ran a circuit already and I was doing the circuit as well but we just decided together that we could create a group called Antics mixing hurdle drills and the circuit together. It’s just different from anything else out there, and it just works better. There are other boot camps around with around 5-6 people but we are getting a lot more people than that on a Saturday morning and a Thursday evening and they’re back every week wanting more. We’ve got a Facebook and Twitter account that everyone is involved in and we try to keep it personal where we say well done to everyone that came and everyone feels apart of it as a group. Would you saying keeping a balanced diet is important for your clients? Anthony - Yeah massively, I’d say it’s as important as the training itself. With my clients I say it’s a mixture of the right training which has to be intense and consistent, alongside the right nutrition and support and getting the right amount of rest as well. When you get them 3 things correct the results come in very quickly and it’s very rewarding. Andy - And that’s what we like to give to our clients, because at the end of a session and a cool down we’ll sit them down and just talk to them about something whether I come in and bring my medals in, or Anthony sits down and speaks about nutrition and just give them some pointers, because some people don’t know a lot about nutrition.

But you know the results that we’ve been getting are people are losing a lot of weight, the girls are coming back saying they’ve dropped a dress size, and the guys are saying look I can see an ab now. The combination of the change and the nutrition that’s being given out to them is getting the better results. What’s been your biggest achievement to date? Andy - I think my biggest medal would be my world championship bronze medal but on a personal note I think winning the European championships with my arms in the air doing the lap of honour in front of 60,000 people was just an amazing feeling. I think I’ve been proud of that all year. I was quite fond of the year before, because people thought I was a bit too old and I wouldn’t make it so for me that was a real personal achievement and a feeling that I would never forget.

What made you want to pUrsUe a career within the music Industry? Well when I first put out a few videos and most importantly my SBTV freestyle I saw that one was getting a buzz and getting a lot of fans from it so I thought “yo, this thing can actually happen!” so I started taking it more seriously, started putting together like mixtapes, more videos and stuff so when I started connecting with fans it was when I thought yeah I can take it seriously Who inspires you in to create the music you create? It’s like the people around me, life experiences like I’m really close with Krept Konan and stuff so seeing them doing well and seeing the things they’re going through helped me through things makes me feel like yo I can get further in this thing as I see them getting bigger I just seem to think yeah I can do this. It’s like the more people close to me because whenever you see a superstar like the Jay Z’s, or Drake and stuff it’s like everyone wants to be like them do you get what I mean? But it’s like obviously I wanna be like Jay Z and Drake and stuff but it’s that people around me push me more. Even the likes of Sneakbo as well. With all the musicians world-wide, who would you like to create music with? I would love to collaborate with ADELE and Ed Sheeran like it would have to be a singer because I am a rapper it’s like I wanna touch on another side of things like an emotional side so yeah Adele or Ed Sheeran definitely. If you had a movie based around your life what movie star would you like to play you? My favourite actor is Will Smith I feel he gets the best emotion out of somebody even if it’s being funny, being sad Liam: - To be honest that’ll be a really good film watching Will smith creating a hood video ha. Yungen: - Yeah it would aha it would be jokes. Na but definitely though Will Smith.

60

YUNGEN

have done I’ve learnt from them I think If I didn’t of made that mistake I wouldn’t be where I am now I don’t think I would change anything. Probably work harder even though I worked hard already but you know what you can always work harder so if I had to pick something it probably would be work harder. What are we to expect from you in the upcoming future? I’m actually working on a EP right now some singles, even an album I’m just working on everything right now like trying to build my profile

What’s been your biggest achievement to date? Probably performing at wireless festival I came out on Krept Konan set at wireless that was definitely a feeling I thought like this is unreal it’s like a dream do you get what I mean? Like it was amazing! Seeing so much people going crazy for you yeah that’s probably definitely my biggest moment so far Is there anything you would change so far? Urm nah I don’t think so I think everything I could

Is the stuff your working on now is it gonna be any different from the stuff off your mixtape or is it similar? Yeah definitely what I’m doing now is definitely gonna be different it’s like I’m trying to make more serious tracks, I’m trying to make hits now with the mixtape stuff It was more about bars and getting recognition like people listening to me as a rapper now I’m bringing the musician side to things. If you was to rate your own mixtapes out of ten what would you rate them? Do you know what I wouldn’t rate them that high to myself at the time I think they was like slightly good but I think it’s been a success so I’ll probably rate that a 8/10 talk of discussion I’ll probably rate that a 9/10 but I’ll give it room for improvement but now I listen back and think these tracks are so much better when I first done the mixtape WORDS by Liam o’leary

There are many advantages and disadvantages of the 3 Series, just like any other car however saying that, its advantages; beauty, incredible performance and an efficient engine to name a few, far outweigh the negatives. BMW’s famed efficient dynamics hardware combined with generative braking and an automatic stop/start system helps the 320d convertible slash emissions and boost economy. It’s beloved around the world just like their other cars they create and distribute around the world there isn’t a surprise why this wouldn’t be a success too.

ith regards to finding out who’s victorious, it really comes down to a matter of opinion as they are both incredible cars. Slight differences in pricing, engine capacity and driving structure aren’t enough to push an outright winner. Both companies have outrageous fan bases that go crazy for any new releases.

he Chevrolet has always been famous for its amazing beauty within the vehicle industry. If you have one of these ultra bad boys you’re automatically known for your wealth and power. The Camaro in the UK has a starting price from £35,320 for the Coupe with manual transmission. Having a 6.2 litre engine which produces 432 horse power when coupled with a six-speed short throw manual transmission, in combination with the automatic transmission which has a tap shift functionality pushes the Camaro above most of its rivals. This specific model is absolutely incredible, and a magnificently beautiful car. It’s always on everyone’s wish list for a genuine car lover. If you are a Chevrolet fan which of course I am, there is no doubt that it is an incredible car and worth every penny.

It’s hard to make a decision as I love the Chevrolet, yet I also adore the BMW. If I was going for style and beauty I’ll pick the Chevrolet without a shadow of doubt as it’s an absolutely stunning car, yet saying that however if I was going for craftsmanship, longevity and lower emissions, I’d have to go for the BMW. For me it’s too difficult to pick a winner I’ll leave this at a draw.

utting its way through the air as you stylishly barrel roll off to the side, the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 is super fun, easy to pickup, but devilishly difficult to master. Most drones are way out of everybody’s price range, and at £280 the AR Drone 2.0 isn’t exactly cheap, but at least you can own a quadrocopter and be the envy of all of your friends. The 2.0 boasts a 720p HD camera on the front, working alongside a downward facing camera, which can either record to a USB stick mounted inside the

drone, or stream straight back to your control device (iOS or Android) with recording available as well as taking still shots. Flight time is restrictive, with each hour long charge giving close to 15 minutes flying, however if you’ve got the money to get one of these, a couple of spare batteries are probably on the shopping list as well. The drone is equipped with 2 hulls, one made from expanded polypropylene, protecting the blades for indoor use, and a more streamlined hull covering the

The drone does produce a lot of downdraft, so if you’re thinking of using it indoors, consider 2 things. 1 – Make sure you’ve got enough space, it’s quite a large piece of kit, and unless you’re rather well off, most rooms will be restrictive. 2 – If you are lucky enough to have a large enough indoor space at your disposal, make sure loose paper, cards and small animals are held down securely. The camera allows for astonishingly smooth video (once you’ve got used to the controls), and flying around is both fun and will attract a number of people to you to find out more about the drone. The really difficult part of controlling a flying machine, taking off and landing, are thankfully and expertly handled by a handy take off button on the app. This really is an extravagant purchase, but if you are

in the market for a Quadrocopter, especially one with all of the features that the AR Drone 2.0 from Parrot packs in, then you can stop looking elsewhere, the AR Drone 2.0 is the technology you’re looking for.

PLAY FOR CHARITY

Get your grubby mitts on 8 top tier titles from EA/Origin. The Humble Bundle is back, and this time EA are donating their titles, and their earnings to charity. You can pay what you want for 6 of these games, but if you pay over the average price already paid (currently around £3.50) you get Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 added to the bundle as well. Origin and Electronic Arts Inc. are donating their share of the proceeds from this bundle to the following 5 great charities: the Human Rights Campaign; Watsi; the San Francisco AIDS Foundation; the American Red Cross; or the American Cancer Society. You can choose the split of donation between these amazing causes. After less than 12 hours of going live, the Humble Origin Bundle has already donated over $3.3million to good causes, and as it is running for a fortnight, there’s more than enough time for you to get in on the action. What are you waiting for? GAME ON!

O

n the back of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, comes an iOS game set around the same time as events in Human Revolution. How will it fair considering the limitations of mobile (app) gaming? Keeping the same black and golden colour scheme from Human Revolution, the art design keeps the feel of DE:HR, but squished into a small and at times feeling quite cluttered screen. I tested The Fall on an iPhone 5, and found the HuD taking up a lot of the viewable area, bearing in mind you’re using the touchscreen to move as well. The Fall brings the choice system along, allowing you to decide on different courses of action, however the most effective actions, at least from

a control point of view, are those which call for stealth and tactics rather than an all guns blazing approach. The combat feels clunky, especially when trying to kill moving targets with any precision., and this really detracted from the whole experience for me, especially as The Fall has done so well in other areas trying to create a console game for iOS. If you enjoyed Human Revolution, and like the Deus Ex world, you’ll probably a great deal of enjoyment from this game, assuming you can wrestle with the controls. If you’re not a fan already, the controls may well get to you far before you get into the game.

Library of Birmingham Opening

he new £188.8 million Library of Birmingham, a major cultural destination for the city, is now open in Centenary Square to transform the city’s library service. It is expected to attract over three million visitors a year, with even more online.

Comprising of ten levels, with nine above ground, an intricate metal façade echoes the gasometers, tunnels, canals and viaducts which fuelled Birmingham’s industrial growth, wrapping the building from the first to the eighth floor. Designed by Dutch architects, Mecanoo, with leading award-winning support services and construction company, Carillion, and Capita Symonds as project managers, it features a spacious entrance and foyer with mezzanine, the gateway to both the library and The REP, a new flexible studio theatre seating 300 people, a lower ground level with a performance area and children’s spaces including Story Steps, four further public levels and two outdoor garden terraces. A ‘golden box’ of secure archive storage occupies two levels of the building, within which the city’s inter-

nationally significant collection of archives, photography and rare books will be stored. These include one of the world’s largest Shakespeare collections, the Parker Collection of Children’s Books and Games, the Early and Fine Printing Collection and the Boulton& Watt archive. A new gallery enables select parts of the collection to go on display while a digital gallery showcases the collections on large screens. At the summit there’s a rooftop rotunda houses the Shakespeare Memorial Room and a panoramic viewing gallery where visitors can enjoy stunning views from one of the highest points in the city. A proud Sir Albert Bore, Leader of Birmingham City Council, says: “The Library of Birmingham is a beacon of what the library sector can offer society, providing specialist services for all in business, personal health and learning, and events, live performances and exhibitions for all ages and tastes. But books remain the heart of what libraries are about.”

MICHELLE MILLS-PORTER

Michelle Mills-porter is one of the most recommended people on the planet on Linkedin. We caught up wITh HER and talked about her career and current events. What’s been your biggest achievement? I would say launching Ubergroups. Ubergroups is just the most heart felt networking group because it was something I’ve wanted to do yet I was afraid to do for a long time. I had a plan and a dream of what I thought a networking group should bring to people and I launched it and achieved it. Sometimes when you’re climbing up a mountain and you look back you don’t realise how much you’ve gone through until that point. With this question I haven’t really thought of it, but the thing with Ubergroups is now seeing a really successful networking group coming from the nervous times when creating it. I was so grateful to have this inner circle of wonderful people around me that get together every month. You get new people involved as well, and that’s massive for me. Also being voted a global networking giant to have my names alongside Bob Burg and Brian Tracy who are household names for personal development from all over the world to have little old me with my interviews and opinions alongside theirs is just bizarre. I keep thinking they are going to ring me up and say sorry we’ve made a mistake we need to take you off haha, but it’s thrilling it really is thrilling. To be able

to say to people ‘I’m a global networking giant’ I just want to pull out my black cape and stick my pants over the top of my trousers haha. If you hand a movie created about you, who would you want to play you? Haha! Oh my life, who would I want to play me, oh my god let me have a think about that one haha. There’s a fun aspect to me and a system aspect to me it’s got to be somebody in comedy, so I’d say Jennifer Saunders, she makes me laugh because my sister has always said I was like Eddie in Absolutely Fabulous which is how I used to be and I’m so not now and there’s an element of Saunders comedy value that I absolutely adore so I’ll be thrilled if Jennifer Saunders was to ever play me haha. What advice would you give to someone attempting to get into elements of what you do? Go out there roll your sleeves up and learn Just that simple? Yeah, you can’t learn about networking from reading books or listening to audiograms, or going to webinars, or going to speeches, you’ve got to get out there roll

your sleeves up, understand how human beings work and get it and learn to give and you can’t do that while reading books. If you could change something about your career what would it be? And why? I think everything that I’ve ever learnt, anything that’s ever gone wrong has been a massive lesson so I wouldn’t necessary change anything about my career it’s all been very valuable I just hope it continues. What made you want to go into the business you’re in? I think I realised that I could do it, when you find something that you can do that benefits other people then it would be stupid not to, so when I found out I was good at it then I realised I’m not only good at it but I can teach other people to be good at it then that’s what fires me up. That’s why I started in business and that’s why I’ve taken the routes that I’ve taken. I happen to be a busybody matchmaker I always was so if I had a friend

that needed a date I would sort them out and it’s exactly the same in business if I can see somebody and I can see a clear match between them and someone who they should be talking to I just want to go over and introduce them to each other. So from a networking aspect it’s a natural part of my personality I’m just so lucky it came along because if networking didn’t exist people would think that I was wasting my time going to meetings and having coffee and enjoying myself whereas actually you can make a living out of networking and that’s the really important thing which people don’t understand. Visit the most recommended person on the planet on Linkedin http://www.linkedin.com/in/michellemillsporter @Chelliemish Our Miss Street Cred for this month has proved that with determination, success is possible. Believe in yourself and success will follow.

SUPA MC

FROM HIP-HOP TO HARD WORK, IAN COLLINS HAS TRAVELLED THE WORLD IN PURSUIT OF HIS DREAMS.

H

e goes by the name of Ian Collins AKA Supa MC he’s known for being an entrepreneur because of the number of things he does, so we wanted to write a little insight into his projects as well as some information about the man behind it all. One of the heights of his career was teaming up with Zulu Nation last year in New York City for the 39th anniversary, who was seen to perform with Afrika Bambaataa, Ice T and KRS1, meeting loads of different people there. He met one person in particular, Sabir Bey the director of Hidden Colours which gave him useful educational material which was to encourage and empower the positivity of hip hop within the music industry. As he’s also known as a artist himself, a rapper to be specific yet saying that he’s got a wider audience within and around the drum and bass industry as an MC. He has a lot of admiration for both Hip Hop and Ragga music, unfortunately he hasn’t put a lot of music together for a while. However even though he as an artist hasn’t put out an awful lot of music doesn’t mean he hasn’t performed anywhere as he’s

84

WORDS by LIAM O’LEARY

performed literally all around the world within the top venues. He’s old school when it comes to most artists. He believes in dedication and hard work, he has an EP and a mix tape out there, yet he doesn’t feel the need to push them for air play or anything through the internet as they are doing fine on their own so far. Personally I can see where he is coming from because worrying about iTunes sales could be stressful and time consuming, which is time you wouldn’t have within the music industry as it’s constantly fast paced. Even though he admires music it’s not the only thing he does, he’s a businessman working as a recruitment consultant for many years and then turned into a manager. After becoming a

Mr & Miss SC

manager he even went on to own his own recruitment agency. After constantly improving himself within so many different elements we’ve discovered he’s a rapper/recruitment consultant and a owner of his recruitment agency, he then went into business development. He’s always had an interest in working with the youth as he grew up in residential care and experienced some of the difficulties they go through hence him setting up a project called Younity Network (www.younitynetwork.com) that he still runs to date. Younity Network engages the youth of today in positive activities through music programmes. They have worked with a lot of youth organisations in and around Birmingham including the local authority, Dudley, Young Britain & BAYC. They have also worked with dance academies like ‘Sticky Dance Studios. Last year they got their dancers some work at the NIA for the Brit Asia TV Music Awards, which is absolutely incredible! Three of their dancers performed in front of 4000 people and then went on tour around the world with Bollywood. It’s must be an absolutely incredible feeling of accomplishment knowing your

dancers from your project have became successful. Younity Network is about teaching youth the business side of the music industry and helping them to put their priorities in order and perspectives in place so they can progress and develop in a career that is rewarding for them financially and educationally, while also allowing them to have fun with their passion of course. He’s got many surprises in store regarding the music industry this time as he has stated he doesn’t like to repeat himself at all yet saying that however he’s just finished a 40 day challenge for Kenya Children Homes raising money to try get them some music equipment. Supa MC had to run 8 miles a day, and work out at the gym for 40 days, which has all been documented on YouTube. It sounds absolutely tiring but it’s all for a good cause so hats off for that! If you would like to see him in action taking part within his challenge visit http://younitynetwork.com/kenyaappeal because now he has finished the challenge he’s

going to go back to focus on his music career again. He’s going to be successful there as well, it isn’t a question about that. With everyone trying to succeed out there, this is one man who has his head screwed on and is constantly focused on having a great mind set in the industry. Of course he wants to be famous and wealthy who doesn’t, but he has good values and one of those is setting a good example for others to follow. Which personally it’s what the youth needs today because they all have the wrong kind of people to look up to, abusing their money & wealth, so his beliefs in this day and age are incredible and to be commended. Well done!

REGGAE OR NOT?

THRIVE For our readers benefit could you tell me a small bit of background information on the band and your role you do within the band? My name is Aaron Borowitz and I sing and play guitar for Thrive. Thrive is a 5 piece band consisting of Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, Saxophone, Drums, and 4 vocalists. Our sound is a combination of Reggae, Pop, Soul, and Hip Hop to narrow it down. We’ve been a band since 2008 and have been blessed to tour and share the stage with most of the biggest bands in Reggae music. Our latest album “Relentless” which came out May 7th 2013 peaked at #3 on iTunes Reggae Charts as well as #6 on the Billboard Reggae Charts. What exciting new things are we to expect off the band in upcoming months? We are now touring into new areas and bringing our new album to new listeners. Our team is working really hard to branch out and expand our fan base online and in the streets.

86

How do you describe your experience as a musician? My experience as a musician has been full of ups and downs. I love music more than anything and it has brought me to places I would have never otherwise gone. I’ve grown and stayed strong through my music, that’s why it means so much to me. What’s been your biggest achievement? The new albums success has been huge for me, and the fact that we’re now headlining our own shows and drawing crowds in multiple markets. As far as my greatest achievement. When I meet a kid who likes Thrive’s music or someone tells me how a song helped them and how they love the music, that’s what I’m most proud of. Where do you SEE the bands career heading within the next 12 months? Well we’ve established some solid markets touring, so now we just want to expand and hopefully gain more of a worldwide buzz.

What 3 positives would you give for being a musician? Having an emotional and creative outlet, providing entertainment and fun, and doing what you love for work. What 3 negatives would you give for being a musician? Never being home, the late hours and very long periods of driving. If you and your other bands mates was to create music with a specific artist or band who would it be and why? As a band we really respect the band Katchafire for their musicianship, song writing, and powerful vocals. I think our 2 camps could make some really good songs together. Also J Boog for the soulful voice. I think these artists would compliment Thrive’s sound. What’s been your favourite single you’ve created so far? “Patience” from the new album “Relentless” - The songs lyrics mean a lot to me. What or who inspires you to create the music you create? Everyone and everything around me. We like to write music about real life and the things everyone deals with.

Many musicans do the leap from music into movies, would you ever consider yourself of doing that as a possibility? Maybe, I always wanted to do cartoons. What’s been your favourite location you’ve performed in? California Roots Music And Arts Festival Monterey Fairgrounds, Monterey CA. What’s the strangest gift a crazed fan has given you? I haven’t gotten anything too strange. I always appreciate whatever it is a fan gives me though. I have a show box I keep stuff like that in. What advice would you give to someone attempting to make it into the music industry? Hang in there. It can take a long time to get a band off the ground. Perseverance is the key.
