Gravity took home Best British Film, as well as Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron (above left) along with cinematography, best sound, original music and visual effects. Cate Blanchett took Best Actress for her role in Blue Jasmine, and British star Chiwetel Ejiofor picked up the Best

enny Jones’ historic Olympic bronze medal in Sochi proved sublime and inspiring as already young men and women are aiming to stake their place in the next Winter Games, with this one not yet finished. The 33-year-old earned Britain’s first ever podium position in a snow sport event after finishing third in the final of the snowboard slopestyle, an event that was making its debut at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

fter the success of Jessica Ennis-Hill in the London Olympics 2012, a wealth of successors have been spawned, with new girl on the block, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, stealing the limelight during a successful athletics Grand Prix series which culminated in the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix at Birmingham’s NIA. Whilst KJT was breaking national records in the long and high jump disciplines, at the British Indoor Championships in Sheffield, 16-year-old Morgan Lake was breaking the great Carolina Kluft’s world indoor pentathlon youth record in Sweden with a score of 4284. With the ‘with child’ Jessica taking the year off, Katarina is leading a band of upwardly-mobile British multi-disciplinersclosely followed by record-breaking Morgan, just keen to take on the mantle of World’s best.

Positive message after mixed Tri-Series

fter two compelling matches, England Netball can take some positives to take on to the future. Following their convincing win over a game Jamaican outfit, then defeat to the all-conquering New Zealanders, some of the home players who shone in both games believe the future for netball in this country is looking bright. One of England’s shining lights, Sasha Corbin, said: “After the Series, I honestly believe that things are looking good for the national side going forward. We attacked well in the Jamaica game and was very strong against New Zealand who are second in the world rankings.” Wing Attack Corbin, whose sister Kadeen also played in the Series, went on to say: “It was great to play against two of the best teams in the world, which allowed us to learn so much. We are looking forward to the chance to face them again in this year’s Commonwealth Games.” Positivity is afoot for English Netball.

Posh not too pushed on Miami

s he goes all out to win support for his new venture, perhaps prospective Football club owner, David Beckham, might look a little nearer home to fight for approval. ‘Golden Balls’ Beckham might have picked Miami as the home for his new Major League Soccer franchise team, but it is said that wife, Victoria, isn’t sold on the city. After her recent New York Fashion Week show, the former Posh Spice didn’t quite show willing on the idea of moving to Florida. She said: “Just because David has a club in Miami doesn’t mean we are moving to Miami. We’re based in London and that’s where the kids go to school.” In fact, she’d feel more inclined to building a stronger presence in New York. If his team succeeds, the returns could be substantial for David. Sport is where the big money is and successful teams that boast star players such as Miami Heat’s LeBron James are guaranteed outsized rewards – a trend that has not gone unnoticed by the entertainment business. He is spending plenty of time in Miami seeking a site for a new stadium to be built for the team, but he has not said his 15 family was moving there.

Adam started off with a simple wordpress blog which featured a selection of unsigned artists and he published his material on-line. Even he didn’t expect the attention VMG got and within a matter of a few weeks he racked up thousands of hits on his site in over 150 Country’s worldwide. He would joke with his Wife that the only continent VMG hadn’t reached was Antarctica, but that still hasn’t stopped him trying. Throughout 2013 Adam continued to develop the VMG brand after receiving some good advice from a chap called Darran Bennett who incidentally is the tour manager of the Loveable Rogues. ViewMyGig is now fast becoming known as the place to be for free promotional opportunities for unsigned singers.

Adam is using Twitter to its full potential and this is where he does most of his brand and artist promotion. He has since gone on to create a new website from scratch and is continually thinking of new ways to promote the VMG brand and to continue supporting the next generation of singers in the UK.

ViewMyGig was created in January 2013 by music lover Adam Cornes who is also known as Mr VMG. Over the last 5 years Adam spent hours of his spare time searching for unsigned artists on YouTube and he quickly built up a large personal catalogue of his favourites. He decided to share his finds with whoever cared to listen and the ViewMyGig brand was subsequently born.

His work on ViewMyGig recently attracted the attention of the OpenMicUk and TeenStar national singing competitions, and this has led to him becoming an industry judge for them. Adam has recently judged the auditions for TeenStar at the NEC in Birmingham and on the 29th March he will be judging the live Regional Final again at The NEC. (Simon Cowell watch this space.) Adam also writes the Spotlight Feature for Street Cred Magazine which includes singer songwriter Joseph Neal this month. Go check it out. What’s good about all this is that VMG is still Adam’s wonderful hobby. Adam has a full time job completely different to the music industry and he has no experience whatsoever in this line of work.

Luckily he is a fast learner and everything you can see related to ViewMyGig has all been researched and completed by Adam himself. VMG is still a one man band and how Adam manages to hold down a full time stressful job and work on VMG is beyond me. Just think what could be done if VMG was his full time occupation with a whole team behind him? Adam is now ready to take the VMG brand to the next level. (All in his spare time of course.) He has taken the plunge and he has organised a live concert for Sunday the 2nd March 2014 between 2pm and 5pm. As VMG is Adam’s hobby he is hosting this event in full support of The Teenage Cancer Trust. It is due to take place at The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton Civic, Broad Street. Wolves, and it will

showcase six new artists for your entertainment. These artists are the next generation of singers and naturally Adam discovered them on YouTube and Twitter. This concert will not only raise money for an inspirational charity but also give these new artists valuable experience performing in a live concert. If you are free then please come along. Tickets are £10 and can be found on-line at the Wolves Civic Midlands Box Office, See Tickets or Ticket Master. The more that attend the better the atmosphere and the more money the charity gets. You will also get to watch some talented new artists perform live.

Managed by Ex East 17 lead singer and founder of Union J Blair Dreelan, Overload members Jordi, Joey, RyRy and Ollie have gained thousands of fans with the help of social media. Rudimental are also on the line up this year along with Ella Eyre. Ella’s performance was electrifying, with stunning vocals and an amazing live band. Ella performed 6 tracks of her debut EP “Deeper”, giving us a

Mystikle Blue:Wireless Festival has been going on for 10 years now, and for the first time, Perry Park in Birmingham is now playing host as well as London. What inspired you to make this move? Steve Homer: Well, we’re glad to be here, put it that way. We were looking to expand Wireless for a couple of years now, and we thought this was the right year to do it when the lineup started to come together, and also we’ve been looking at alternative cities. The type of music that’s made Wireless what it is today has always been

Steve Homer, Wireless Festival event organiser said he’s been looking to expand Wireless festival for many years, and felt this was the right year to expand, especially with such a huge line up, Birmingham felt like the right place to start expanding. very big in terms of touring acts in London and Birmingham as the second part of it, so it was always the best place to expand to. MB: When putting your line up together, what is it that you look for in an artist? SH: Well one of the key things about it, is we’re always looking to have a good mix of American acts and UK acts, and they tend to complement each other quite a lot. So there are a couple of obvious names that come to mind almost immediately, acts like Drake, Rhianna, Kanye West, so when we see which of the big names are available in the market, we chase those down first, and then we try and compliment it with

acts like Rudimental and Ellie Goulding on the bill which is a little bit poppy. We’ve gone for a more heritage act like Outkast, so we’ve tried to mix it up a bit, so really there’s no hard or fast rule about what makes a Wireless suitable act. We have a very online and sociable community, and they certainly let me know as well which acts they like. MB: Now Wireless started 10 years ago, what inspired you to start it? SH: Well when we first started it, we were looking for a different style in London, a one day event, or an event where you didn’t have to camp, so even a series of one day events, and it was based on a more alternative, dance based market.

l Wireless Festival organiser Steve Homer with Mystikle Blue MB: What inspired you to keep going? SH: We had a number of acts appear over a number of years, we saw a growth in it, but it wasn’t until about year four or five, where we started to get more of an identity, and we started to get more of a niche. There was a very good response to our Urban and Hip Hop acts and so we went more and more into that field and kept going till the last couple of years where we’re now known almost exclusively as an urban festival which has proved to be very popular. It’s unique, there isn’t another festival like it in the UK and certainly Europe. MB: Have you ever thought of doing a Wireless Unsigned? SH: Well there’s always an opportunity for that, and we will be having a New Act Stage at both sites. What we’ll do for that is we’ll look at local acts that are suitable from Birmingham as well as London and we’ll make it very much a local stage. It’s a good opportunity, there’s a lot of acts I’ve worked with over the years which have been very small acts to start with and have then developed very very quickly to become major artists. ecret is a new app that has just been released in the USA. It connects you to your contact list anonymously, then allows you to post your thoughts, either by text, photo or both, with complete anonymity. So far it appears Secret has had a good reception, with users keeping to the rules of the service and not posting inappropriate content, so it could soon be

seen released over here in the UK. If you had the ability to post anything you wanted, so that your friends and the wider world could see it but not know it came from you, what would you post? Teens have chance to show their Power “Inspire a generation of young people to be the best that they can be.” That’s the ethos of Teen Power Radio, a new radio show launched to give young people a voice and position in today’s media-led society. Coming from Birmingham, the bi-weekly internet-led station and podcast “does what it says on the tin.” The show is set-up by young people, for young people. To inform, empower and inspire the next generation helping them manage the key decisions that will shape their lives and futures. Targeting the 13 to 19-year-old market, the Birmingham based Teen Power Radio show will be broadcast on the Millennium Radio and TV platform which has its offices in London. The show is a platform for Birmingham’s rich, young, diverse

community to air their views, share their ideas and BE HEARD! In doing so inspiring others from around the world to make a constructive contribution to the world we live in today. For the readers can you tell us a little background information about you and what you do? I’m 23, and a singer/songwriter/musician from Chelmsford in Essex! Something most people won’t know is the amount of stuff I’ve managed to do in 7 years! I’ve got 3 NVQs in catering, had chef and waiting jobs, been a marketer/sales advisor and at the moment I’m a stockroom operative for Primark!

How old we’re you when you first developed a passion for music? I was 5 when I began to sing. I did a few karaoke gigs when I was 6 to 9 years old raising money for the Royal Air Ambulance. Music in more ways than one has saved me numerous times during my childhood. I’m always thankful for that..

Have you any plans to release a single or an album? What would your 1st album be called? I have plans to fund myself and write & release an EP this year. My first EP I think will be self titled ‘Joseph Neal’ to showcase my body of work and what I can do. Have you done any live gigs. Have you any gigs planned in the future? I have done and its so much fun! no matter what size audience i play to i always have such a rush of nerves but in a good way! Where do you see your musical career heading in the next 12 months? I see myself selling out gigs and tours with enough hard work and the right breaks I believe in myself enough to push forward with real emphasis and drive.

I am aware that James Arthur inspires you as an artist. Why is that? James Arthur for me epitomises everything about music which I can fully relate to. He’s had a troubled past and has more than come through the other side and you can feel such emphasis and real emotion in his material. Do you just sing or can you play any musical instruments? I play acoustic guitar and have been learning to play for around 4-5 months. Playing the guitar helps out enormously when writing my own stuff and wanting to put my own stamp on a cover. If you could make music with any artist past or present who would it be and why? It’s tough to choose one as there’s so many but I’ll give you two: Eminem & Ed Sheeran. James Arthur is a very close 3rd!

Would you enter a TV talent contest for example The X factor? I have in the past, reached the final 200 of the voice in 2012, and to the 3rd pre-audition stage of X-Factor last year. For me these shows have been more for experience than anything. It only takes one person in partnership with a record label to spot you and believe in you. I honestly believe I can find that person with or without these platforms. Who would you say your style of music and or voice is similar to? Purely for the reason of where his music comes from, James Arthur. Writing and singing from the heart in many genres and style is something I love to try and do. What makes you different from other unsigned artists out there at the moment? My drive, passion and determination defines who i am and sets me aside from other artists. I’m always true to myself and forever proud of where I’m from. I’m 100% purely about the music and I constantly want to deliver.

SPOTLIGHT What’s next for you then? Writing and recording my EP, and taking life one gig at a time. Oh and I’m headlining my own gig for the first time ever around April in Essex so that’ll be special for me.

VMG first found you on twitter and congratulations on hitting 10K followers recently. What are the advantages of unsigned artists such as you having access to sites like twitter? Thank you! I’ve just been plugging away at my own sound and it’s clearly working. I’m so thankful to all my fans for their support. Twitter is the best social site I’ve discovered in terms of growing a fan base and discovering opportunities to distribute my sound. I believe you are currently unsigned at the minute but you seem to be doing very well promoting yourself. I understand you have competed at Soccer Six with other new unsigned artists. How have you been able to get involved in that? I am, and that is down to the people who listen to my music and tell others about me. Its been such a good response during my time on twitter. I am at soccer six again because I have brilliant fans who believe in me and helped pushed me there. As an unsigned artist yourself do you have any advice to give others who want to make it in the music industry? The key piece of advice id give anyone is remain true to who you are, work hard and graft. The rewards are out there but they won’t be handed to you. This is what I’m currently doing myself!

Finally you are a member of ViewMyGig. What do you think of VMG and how does it help you? I am indeed! I think VMG is SICK! (Street slang for Brilliant!)! t a time when America stood still while her country men and women suffered in the great depression, one little girl changed everything. Her name was Shirley Temple and she was to become America’s darling. At the tender age of three she sang and danced her way into the hearts of a nation that was crumbling under severe social withdrawal. Then president Delano Roosevelt stated, she roused the troop’s hearts and awoke America’s people to unending possibilities. In the wake of her death, some have even commented that she saved American Cinema, bringing in more revenue with her refreshing optimism and dolly haired presence. The BBC’s arts and entertainment editor Will Gompertz commented; “her Hollywood charm was box office magic” It wasn’t long before the world was embraced by her rosy cheeks in a light she could truly blossom. Aged just six, Temple had already won her first Oscar and starred in a number of leading roles. Notably, the hit U.S record The Good Ship Lollypop from the smash hit, Bright Eyes. Despite this unprecedented arrival onto our screens, Temple’s introduction to stage came from the less than desirable ‘baby burlesque’ series, ran and encourage by Gertrude, her Mother. Temple was aged at just four years old. Her sensationalism

Remarried and now representing what she saw as a real world, not one driven by her influential mother, Shirley Temple Black would go onto represent Ghana as well as Czechoslovakia as an ambassador, with further political ties to the White House, emerging as chief of protocol. Those who knew her best would see this as justice, those who admired from afar saw an astounding re-emergence for someone more used to the stage than the staunch and crushing life of politics. Joan Rivers who knew the starlet well tweeted: “Rest in peace, Shirley Temple Black. I know that you’re sailing up and away on the Good Ship.” Shirley Temple died on Monday at her Woodside, California, home from natural causes. “She was surrounded by her family and caregivers,” a statement said.

ased on a true story, Dallas Buyers Club tells the story of Ron Woodroof; a womaniser who spends his time drinking, taking drugs and hustling people out of their money. When Woodroof suddenly discovers that he has AIDS and is given a mere 30 days to live, he works around the system to get himself and other AIDS patients the treatment they need. Matthew McConaughey is truly a changed man. Once known as the simple eye-candy in lacklustre romantic-comedies like Failure to Launch and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, McConaughey has transformed himself into a brilliant and deeply respected actor. His performance in Dallas Buyers Club continues his fantastic run and may very well be the greatest performance of his career. He, along with Jared Leto, elevate this film to something quite extraordinary and their performances truly drive what is an emotional and harrowing story. Both McConaughey and Leto lost horrific amounts of weight in order to bring validity to their roles as AIDS patients. They both look skeletal and emphasises their unwavering devotion to these roles. Initially, Woodroof is a rather

unlikable man. He is a racist homophobe whose time is consumed by alcohol, drugs and unprotected sex with

women â&#x20AC;&#x201C; he is the true definition of a redneck. However, the discovery of his condition and the sudden realisation that he may

not have long to live encourages a change in Woodroof’s life. He bends and breaks the law in order to get treatment that is unapproved by the FDA and will stop at nothing to get the necessary medication for himself and his fellow sufferers; causing him to strike up an unlikely friendship with Rayon, a transgender male who is the epitome of everything that Ron hates. Played with mesmerising dedication by Jared Leto; returning after a 5 year absence from the screen – Rayon is hilariously persistent and encourages a change within Woodroof. They are the perfect odd-couple and watching them together is like watching a comedy double-act and bounce off of one another. The performances are the driving force

behind this movie and without such dedication from these amazing actors; Dallas Buyers Club could have been a very different movie. Jean-Marc Vallée’s directs this movie with a gritty realism that serves to accentuate the story and tone of the film. Dallas Buyers

Club does not look pretty; Vallée utilizes washed out colours and hand-held camera work to add a realworld sensibility to the story. If it was directed in any other way, this movie may not have been as effective as it is. Everything about this movie is great; the performances, the direction, the editing, the soundtrack – everything. Dallas Buyers Club is an emotional and immersive experience that shines light on a terrible disease and the diabolical stigma that sufferers were forced to bear. Dallas Buyers Club is an unpleasant, yet quietly uplifting piece of cinema. 10/10

ver since this remake of Paul Verhoeven’s cult classic was announced, there has been an immense backlash from diehard fans of the original. Many people boycotted the film, assuming it would never live up to the original and, whilst that may be true, I am happy to report that José Padilha’s remake is actually pretty damn good. Set in the year 2029, RoboCop (2014) tells the story of Detective Alex Murphy – a loving husband, a caring father and a dedicated police officer working tirelessly to rid Detroit of crime and corruption. When Murphy antagonises a notorious gang of criminals, an attempt is made on his life, leaving him critically injured with very little chance of survival. Unsure of what to do, Murphy’s traumatised wife Clara is approached by multinational conglomerate, OmniCorp, who are at the forefront of robotic technology. They offer to save Murphy’s life by turning him into a one-man crime-fighting machine known as RoboCop. After returning to the streets and winning the hearts and imaginations of the American people, Murphy’s humanity begins to interfere with his programming – making him an extremely volatile and very dangerous machine out for more than simple justice; he’s out for revenge. RoboCop (2014) acts more as a reboot than a remake. Whilst it follows the same basic premise, this film is extremely different in terms of style and tone. First of all, Alex Murphy is far more developed as a character; we get to know him before he becomes RoboCop. In the original, Alex Murphy becomes RoboCop within the first 15 minutes, barely giving us time to engage with the character, whereas the remake boldly takes it’s time in building up to his transformation. It is a change that I appreciated and it quickly made me realise that this remake would be far better than I had hoped. José Padilha handles his English-language debut very well, infusing the action with an exhilarating kinetic energy whilst also taking his time and lingering on the more dramatic and emotional scenes. Despite the fact he is directing a big budget blockbuster; Padilha never seems pressured to make his film all about the action, which is a bold choice that has to be admired.

The performances are solid from the vast majority of the cast, specifically Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton; who all give very good performances that elevate this film to a level it would not have reached without actors of their calibre and ability. Unfortunately, not all of the performances are up to standard. Abbie Cornish’s performance as Alex Murphy’s wife Clara is rather wooden. I never truly believed that she was traumatised by her husband’s horrific injuries; it simply felt like there was something missing. The chemistry between her and her husband feels very forced, making it difficult to invest in their relationship – this is not entirely Cornish’s fault, as Kinnaman can equally be held responsible. However, he redeems himself in other aspects of the film whereas Cornish seems content with putting in an adequate performance rather than striving for a good one. Fortunately, her screen time is limited so it does not have an adverse affect on the movie. The biggest problem with this remake is that it lacks a memorable, or even an obvious villain. Antoine Vallon, the gangster responsible for Murphy’s horrific injuries, barely qualifies as a villain as he gets an accumulative total of approximately five minutes of screen time. It’s very odd and affects our investment in Murphy’s quest for vengeance. Jackie Earle Haley’s Rick Mattox is an unlikable character, but he isn’t an outright villain. Mattox is simply against the RoboCop programme and takes an immediate disliking to Alex Murphy, but he never actually poses a viable threat. In the end, when the main villain is made obvious, it’s difficult to hate them as the character in question has been rather likeable throughout the entire movie and, even when they’re revealed as a villain, they never truly do anything despicably bad or evil. It’s a very strange creative choice that has a negative effect on the film. Fortunately, there are still enough positives in RoboCop to keep it in a very rare and elite group of films; a group comprised of genuinely good remakes. Whilst it may not rival the greatness of the original, RoboCop (2014) is a solid and satisfying remake. 7/10

our students from Walsall Academy will showcase their talent this coming Thursday as a support act to the eagerly anticipated Swan Lake. Bradley Guest, Alex Stephenson, Brandon Evans & Sukhi Gill, all level 3 Dance and Drama pupils will perform to a packed out auditorium of over 1,800, at Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre. The show is running at the Hippodrome for an extended two week season before finishing on Saturday 15th February. Three colleges in total have been invited to celebrate the launch of award-winning director and choreographer Matthew Bourne OBE’s interpretation of the classic ballet. Birmingham’s Ormiston Academy as well as Stratford Upon Avon’s College will also embrace the podium, with 19 young dancers involved that will raise the curtain. The chosen individuals have worked tirelessly with one of the most respected dance and theatre names, New Adventures. Despite the high level of tutoring, three of the four chosen from Walsall have admitted that they have never performed to a live theatre audience before. Lecturers Julie Wright and Faye Cox said the students have been rehearsing over the past five weekends to get them up to speed in time for the show. Julie said: “We’ve worked alongside young female choreographers for two previous years under an initiative which is financed by the Hippodrome. For the first time though they wanted us to provide an all-male cast which is why the three colleges have teamed up.” Faye added: “We hadn’t actually got many male dancers so we had to ask three of our Drama students who hadn’t even had a dance class, let alone perform in front of a packed crowd at the Hippodrome…

here are a lot of bluetooth mini speakers making their way onto the market at the moment. We got our hands on the QDOS Q-BOPZ, one of the smaller speakers we’ve come across, and at a mere £30 at that. Does the small size and price tag of the Q-BOPZ belie a beast of greater capabilities? The first thing you notice about the Q-BOPZ is the large suction cup on

the bottom. A rubberised finish available in a multitude of colours to suit your decor gives the Q-BOPZ a rugged, waterproof finish that feels nice in your hand. The suction cup allows the speaker to stick to most things with a flat surface, including but not limited to the back of your phone, tablet, table, window or table. You’ll find a trio of buttons on the Q-BOPZ, volume controls and bluetooth pairing/call answering with a microphone nearby, and on the other side of the speaker, hidden under a rubber flap you’ll find the micro-USB port and power switch. Touted at “up to 7 hours worth of high quality music” the battery life of the Q-BOPZ is surprisingly high, and through our test-

ing, we managed a fair few more hours on top of that at a reasonable volume. Obviously the louder you turn it up, the faster the battery will drain, but rest assured it should last most of a lazy afternoon in the garden. Sound quality is better than you would expect for only £30, but the 3W speaker lacks bass and at louder volumes distortion sets in making for a slightly harsher listen, although you probably won’t need to push it to the top of its volume as it has a pretty good output considering its size anyway. If you’re looking for a small, portable, rugged bluetooth speaker that will last a decent amount of time, as well as giving your mobile devices a stand, all while producing a good sound quality, then look no further than the QDOS Q-BOPZ. Winning is Everything That’s the slogan plastered over the SteelSeries 9H box, which also promises a tournament grade audio experience. Does the 9H live up to claims of “best in class comfort”, “extreme passive noise blocking” and a tournament grade audio experience? And is it worth paying the £135 price tag attached to it? Featuring circumaural double-enclosure earcups with leather-lined cushions, the 9H is surprisingly light on the weight front, and very comfortable to wear for extended periods. If you’re not used to over-ear headphones, the first thing you will notice is the “extreme passive noise blocking” that the 9H provides. It easily cancels out background noise, giving you full focus on whatever you’re listening to. The 9H’s come with a number of cables to enable connectivity across a range of devices such as PC, Mac, Tablets and Phones. A single 3.5mm ended cable allows for connections to phones and tablets, and using the enclosed USB sound card, the micro-USB or 3.5mm microphone/headphone jack combo work flawlessly. You can download SteelSeries Engine 3 from the SteelSeries website, allowing you to get the most out of your new headset. From here you can tweak your equaliser, microphone noise cancellation and

gain as well as turning on Dolby 7.1 emulation. The microphone sits snugly inside the left earcup when you don’t need it, and with a press and pull, will be ready for use when you do. When communicating, either ingame or on the phone you want a crystal clear audio stream, and that is exactly what you get with the 9H. There were no problems with using Skype, Mumble, Teamspeak, Ventrilo or phone calls even with the microphone retracted, it was still clear, just quieter.

While using the headset for its intended use, gaming, the 9H really shines. With individual game/ application settings, you can adjust your style depending on what game you’re playing. You’ll notice footsteps of incoming players on games like Battlefield or Call of Duty, and atmospheric sounds in games such as the Tomb Raider reboot are rich and immersive. Music and films are beautiful to listen to, and you can really get into what you are watching or listening to with no distractions from the outside. A long commute or journey on public transport will never be the same again, as you can block out screaming children and the general hubbub with this headset. The build quality of the 9H headset is high, it is a very sturdy headset but has thankfully shed some of the weight that would normally come with a product that seems so resilient. The one recommendation for the 9H would be to ensure you use the SteelSeries Engine when using the headset for gaming, as the equaliser really helps to bring the best out of the 9H. Fiddle about with all of the options available to you in the software to find the perfect setup for you, as everyones ears are different. As for the £135 price tag slapped on the SteelSeries 9H, it is worth every penny. The crystal clear audio, along with the beautiful build quality and aesthetics, comfort and durability make the 9H one of the best headsets Street Cred has reviewed. hree of the original members reggae band, UB40, have announced they are reuniting to record a new album and tour.

Singers Ali Campbell, Astro and keyboard player, Mickey Virtue, made the announcement on their official website which stated that they are in the studio working on a new album. The Birmingham-based group, formed in 1978, ruled the charts for 30 years before Campbell left, in 2008, to peruse his solo career. Virtue left shortly after and Astro followed, last year, to concentrate on his first love which is foodopening restaurant in Worcestershire as well as overseeing and judging food contests whilst encouraging a new generation to cook. Selling over 70 million records worldwide, the band’s most successful hits include: ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love,’ ‘I Got You Babe’

and ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You.’ The message posted on their website read: “The three founding members have reformed and reunited to bring you the true sound of UB40. Ali, Astro and Mickey are currently in the studio working on a new album...more info soon.” Astro said: “It’s going to be great working with Ali again after all this time. We started on a mission to promote reggae music and that mission is still ongoing. Onwards and upwards!” Campbell added: “We originally formed UB40 to promote reggae.
