Pride Month
StreetWise was bursting with pride this year, so much so that our annual Pride edition (only available digitally) featured an animated cover featuring 4 icons of queer representation, and interviews with them all! Vocalist Adam Lambert, pop duo Tegan & Sara, drag entertainer Jinx Monsoon, and filmmaker John Waters were included.

Chicago Needs Indie Media Live Stream
Chicago Reader publisher & Windy City Times owner Tracy Baim and CIMA Partnerships Coordinator Yazmin Dominguez discussed why independent, local media is essential to a fair media landscape in Chicago with Chicago Public Square's Charlie Meyerson, Street- Wise's Dave Hamilton, Third Coast Review's Nancy Bishop, Inside Publications' Ron Roenigk and North Lawndale Community News's Isaac Lewis, Jr. COVID-19 is a devastating blow to the finances of businesses and organizations all across the nation, with small local publications being one of the hardest sectors hit. The #SaveChicagoMedia fundraiser helped keep local reporters on the ground covering your communities.

Anguish & Action Free Digital Edition
The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and other African Americans and people of color, as well as the ensuing protests, shone a spotlight on the systemic racial injustices that have plagued our community and country. We are sad, angry and frustrated by the racism, discrimination and marginalization that affect communities of color. This includes many of the StreetWise vendors and job seekers who are more likely to experience homelessness, incarceration, and violence. Because of this, we provided a digital copy of our special double-size issue highlighting 8 Chicago #BlackLivesMatter protests in photos by Kathleen Hinkel FREE of charge! Please read and share this touching issue with your fellow Chicagoans and the rest of the world. You can still read it for FREE at https://issuu.com/streetwise_chi/docs/june8_2020issuu
