LVII: A Super Bowl to Remember

Pre-Game Hype

Patrick: All right, fellas. So, here we are: Super Bowl #57! So, readers and fans of SportsWise, we have a smooth two-parter. We have a lil'bit of pre-game thoughts and, then, we'll hit you with our post-game analysis. Russ, will you kick it off for us?

Russ: Of course. So, like you said, we're near to game time and as everyone's settling in, it appears there are more Kansas City Chiefs' fans than there are Philadelphia Eagles' fans- could mean something. So, let's all sit back and enjoy this. Before I forget, let me say that I'm quite interested to see how the halftime act, Rihanna, does this evening.

Patrick: Of course. So, who's going to win?

Russ: Give me the underdog. Going with Kansas City. I think the pressure on Philadelphia could do a bit of harm to their chances.

Donald: I kinda agree with you. However, I do feel Philadelphia will be able to overcome. That they're on a mission to win by any means necessary. So, I believe it'll be a good, hard-fought battle. John, what're you thinking?

John: Well, this is the first time in NFL history that two Black quarterbacks will start the Super Bowl. We have Patrick Mahomes at the helm for Kansas City Chiefs, Jalen Hurts for the Philadelphia Eagles. Either Mahomes will add to a legacy that puts him closer to the recently-retired Tom Brady or...Jalen Hurts can begin his own. Basically, no matter what happens, we will have only the 2nd Black starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.

Patrick: That's huge, man.

Donald: It is.

Post-Game Breakdown

Russ: Let me begin, please. So, this was a very good game. It went down just as I planned; KC in dramatic fashion. Pat Mahomes is a bad man, hurt ankle and all.

John: You're right, Russ. The sad thing is that I almost couldn't enjoy the game- the win and all- because I kept thinking how we had not only the chance to hire Kansas City's head coach Andy Reid, but also had an opportunity to snag Mahomes in the 2017 instead of Mitchell Trubisky. I believe we could've had several NFC championships and Super Bowl appearances - shoot, maybe even won a Super Bowl or two! However, CareBears it is.

Patrick: Slightly harsh, John, but I get you. Our Chicago Bears have had a few opportunities to get it back going since the Super Bowl Shuffle of '85/'86. Don, what did you think about the game?

Donald: This game was absolutely great. Considering that Patrick Mahomes won his second Super Bowl-

John: In just 4 years.

Donald: Right. And that he led his team to that win in the last minute with his usual Mahomes magic was pretty awesome. I can't wait to see what goes down next year. Could be quite interesting.

Patrick: I agree, Don. And the funny thing with this game is that either team could have won. Even when the Chiefs were up 35-27, it almost didn't feel that way. And not that they should've necessarily been down, but that the score didn't seem to match with the game...if that makes any sense.

Russ: It doesn't. You're getting old, my man. Sounds like me trying to explain something!

Patrick: You ain't no good, Russ...but you're right! Nah, it just seemed as if the Eagles were winning or it was tied or something-just closer than 8 points.

Russ: Just messing with you. I do get it. It was an awesome, yet strange-sorta game.

Donald: And, to boot, Rihanna was all good.
