INSTALLATION GUIDE
Stallion Stainless Glass Gate Recommended Installation with 2 People BOX KIT CONTENTS 1. Top patch – clamps onto the top of the glass gate. This has a white plastic hole in it which your top pivot goes into. 2. Bottom patch – clamps into the bottom of the glass gate. This has a slot, which will attach to the floor spring at the bottom. 3. Floor spring – rebated into the concrete. 4. Top pivot – holds top of glass. Screws and plugs are provided for wall pivot. 5. Gold brackets – only used for timber applications. 6. Clear silicone. All come with stainless steel cover plates and screws to suit.
Place the floor spring approx 15-20mm away from the wall if it is being fixed from a wall. Gently place the glass gate over the floor spring, with top and bottom patches attached, slotting into the floor spring at the ground level. The top pivot can be placed into the top patch and sat on the wall. Correctly ensuring the gap is the same at the top and bottom between the edge of the glass and the wall you are fixing it to. Once this is done and your gate is sitting level vertically and horizontally, you can mark the cut out for your floor spring to sit in to. Mark out the rectangle hole. Step 3 Cutting the rectangle hole is extremely important part of the job and must be done perfectly otherwise your gate will not function properly, To ensure this, cut on the inside of the line and cut away bit by bit is needed. We recommend using a 5 or 9 inch angle grinder with a masonry disk to cut around the shape of the hole. As you can not cut right into the corners with the masonry disk, use a chisel to chip away the corners and remaining concrete. Make sure the hole is deep enough for the floor spring to fit into. If the floor spring is not sitting flush with the floor level, make a few cuts down the centre of the hole to break more concrete out. This is a trial and error process.
Step 1 Clamp your top and bottom patch to your glass gate ensuring the allen keys are tight but making sure not to over tighten. Ensure they are squared off with the glass. You can do this by running a right angle off the edge of the glass. Step 2 Using the floor spring, do a mock trial as this will give you an idea of where the floor spring is to be placed in the ground.
Step 5 Before you place cover plates on your hardware, you may need to adjust the closing point of your gate. It needs to be over corrected so it always shuts. This is to ensure full pool safety is met. Adjusting the floor spring can be done by adjusting the bolts at the front of the floor spring in the ground. Depending on your gate requirements, you can tighten and loosen accordingly so the gate closes past 180 degrees. There is also another adjustment screw to slow down the speed of opening and closing. Once the hole is cut, it is time to place the floor spring in permanently. Place the floor spring into the hole and run a bead of silicone around the perimeter of the floor spring. Step 4 Sit the glass gate over the floor spring and the bottom patch will lock into place. Only if mounting to wall – level the gate and mark the wall where the holes need to be drilled for the pivot. Fix the pivot to the wall with screws and plugs provided. The glass gate should now open and close. Your glass gate is in place and needs a latching point for it to close. You can now add another glass panel that is parallel with your gate.
Step 6 Make sure your gate closes and latches. Do this a number of times and once you are happy, you can place on all the cover plates. Note: In areas where water is present suitable silicon sealing of floorspring is required to prevent water from entering tray.
Enjoy your gate. Please contact Stallion Stainless via email if you have any further queries paul@stallionstainless.com.au
INSTALLATION GUIDE
Stallion Stainless DIY Pool Fencing BOX KIT CONTENTS 1. 12mm Clear glass panels. 2. Pool legs include cover plates, pressure plates and 20mm thread. 3. Chemset tubes and nozzles. 4. Thread lock. Step 1 Start by measuring the length of the area in which you are installing the glass pool fencing. Step 2 Measure the glass panels provided. Step 3 Divide the length of the glass panels into the length of the area. Eg.
Note: These should be measured parallel from the wall so they are level and straight before marking their spot.
Area length = 3140mm 3 x Glass panel length = 1000mm each 3140 / 1000mm = 140mm 140mm / 4 = 35mm
Divide the remainder into 4 to give you the distance of each space between each glass panel. This will ensure that you have an aesthetic appearance to the finish. Note: Gaps between the glass panels should be between 2050mm.
Step 5 Preparing to drill the holes. Use the legs as a template to sketch around so you can find the centre of the holes before you start drilling. Once you draw the centre of the hole into the concrete, you can start drilling a 22mm hole making sure it is level both ways. Note: You may need someone to sight the drill as you do it to ensure a straight hole. Drilled holes should be no less than 100mm deep for the rods to fit into.
Step 4 Start with the installation of the first and last pool legs. We recommend you start your first pool leg 200mm from the edge of the starting wall and also the same at the other end. This ensures a good strong start to your pool fencing.
Step 6 Prepare your chemset found in your kit. Follow the instructions accordingly on the packet. Once prepared, fill the pre-drilled holes with the chemset and place your pool leg with the rod attached into the concrete. The thread rod provided must be firmly tightened into the base of pool leg to
avoid any movement. We advise using thread lock. At this stage you need to work fast and level off the pool leg so that the pool leg finishes parallel to the ground. Note: When using chemset you must remove the steel ring inside the mouth of the tube. Without the nozzle attached squeeze some out and check there are no blockages. Screw the nozzle on and start using.
Step 7 Line up the rest of the pool legs. Now that you have installed the first and last pool legs, run a string line from one end to the other. Make sure you run a string line on the inside face of the pool leg with the grub screws. The string line must be pulled tight. This will enable a straight line to measure the rest of your pool legs onto the concrete as per step 5. Keep the string line there until the end of the drilling and setting of the pool legs.
Start by placing the glass from one wall to the other, working section by section. Before affixing the glass panels onto the pool legs, there are a few components that need to be in place: • • •
Plastic packer strip Pressure plate Grub screws
Plastic packer must be slid into the pool leg, going around the bottom of the glass and finishing level with the top of the pool leg. One person can do this while the other tilts the glass up. The pressure plate needs to be placed in between
Use the measurements from Step 3 and space the remainder of the pool legs so they are ready to be marked and drilled. (If you find this process difficult, you can create of template of the glass as a guide to your installation process)
the plastic packer and the inside the pool leg. The grub screws can now be screwed into the pressure plates and clamp the system together. Note: You can adjust the glass panel by tightening or loosening the grub screws to tilt the degree of the glass. If this does not work, you may add more plastic packing as above to help with this process.
Step 10 Repeat the last step for the remainder of the glass panels.
Step 8 Install the remainder of the legs. Once all the holes are drilled and filled with chemset and you are ready to install the remainder of the legs. Make sure the inside edges of the legs touch the string line. It is important that these legs are level as per Step 5. Step 9 Installation of glass panels requires 2 people.
Make sure all the glass panels line up along the top. You can do this by using a level after completing each panel and holding it up against the previous one. Re tighten all pool leg grub screws again to ensure the glass panels are rigid. Stand at one end and look down the line to eye off any panels which are not level with one another. This will ensure a professional finish.
Enjoy your fence.
