Praise the Lord! Praise his name, you servants of the Lord, who stand in the Lord’s house, in the Temple of our God. Praise the Lord, because he is good, sing praises to his name, because he is kind. Ps.135: 1, 2 & 3.
Introduction Nations have been shaken, governments have fallen, tsunami has hit and the world has been thrown into chaos and insecurity. Yet we prevail in the comfort of our jobs, homes and family, watched over by the angels, protected by faith, united in the love of the Almighty and guided by the Holy Spirit. To the one and only God and our Savior Jesus Christ, we lift our heart and souls filled with sincere thanks and indebtedness for the abundant grace and blessings showered on us, our families, our church and most importantly on our Parish, St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church Kuwait. The year behind us has been one of changes, especially in the political front and specifically in the countries around us. While a number of our brethren have directly or indirectly been affected by this political turmoil, we have been spared. Even when the natural calamities and a looming nuclear catastrophe in Japan threatened to wipe out generations, we were spared. Man has distanced himself from his creator, who gave his only son to redeem his children and fulfill his promise to his creation. The happenings around us should be an eye-opener for us all, reminding us of the everlasting love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ - the way, the means and the end. The year has been no different for our Church. We have evolved over the year into a very vibrant community. We have been fortunate, by the grace of God to meet and exceed the goals that we had set out for ourselves. Our Parish has grown and we have been blessed with a new Vicar. On the onset, let me use this opportunity to welcome Rev. Thomas Koshy Panachamoottil to Kuwait and to our Parish. We have faced quite a few challenges in getting the Visa for our Achen and again with all your prayers, support and with the grace of the Almighty we have overcome them all. Prior to proceeding any further, let us unite in Congratulating H. H. The Amir of the State of Kuwait for his wise leadership and the 5th anniversary of his ascension as the Amir of Kuwait. Further, let us congratulate the Rulers and the people of the State of Kuwait on the 50th anniversary of Kuwait’s Independence and 20th anniversary of Liberation. Now, with immense satisfaction on our accomplishments over the year, with sincere thanks for the support that you have given us and with heartfelt gratitude and prayers to our savior Jesus Christ, on behalf of the Executive Committee, it is our pleasure and privilege to present before you this Annual Report for the year 2010 - 2011.
Our Parish With all praises and thanks to our Lord Almighty for his abundant mercy towards us, we record that the parish membership during the report year has reached 368 units and 1089 members including children. During the report year 6 members left Kuwait and 20 New Members joined our Parish.
Vicars Rev. Sunny Thomas (2007 – 2010) The dynamic leadership and prayers of our first vicar Rev. Sunny Thomas were very much instrumental during the infancy and childhood of our church. He took the pains to lead our church during its first three 2
years, and played an inestimable role, together with the support of Mercy Kochamma, in bringing our church to where it is today. After 3 years of dedicated service to our parish, Rev. Sunny Thomas was transferred to Chungathara St. Thomas Mar Thoma Parish in 2010. A befitting farewell, arising from our love and affection for Achen and family, was accorded to them on 23rd April, 2010. Rev. K. G. Koshy presided over the farewell gathering. Achen and family left Kuwait on 26th April, 2010. We wish all the very best to Rev. Sunny Thomas, Mercy Kochamma, Feba Kochamma, Rev. Thomas John and Gaius. They will be remembered in our prayers.
Rev. Thomas Koshy Panachamoottil Following the transfer of Rev. Sunny Thomas, Rev. Thomas Koshy Panachamoottil joined as the new vicar from 05th May 2010. A very warm and hearty welcome was accorded to Achen on 06th May 2010, in a gathering presided over by Mr. Abraham Mathew - Parish Vice President. Achen hails from Panachamoottil family of Ranny and was the vicar of Mumbai Kalyan Mar Thoma Parish, prior to his transfer to Kuwait. In the few months that he has been with us, Achen has shown us how good an organizer and preacher he is, and also has demonstrated the depth of his faith and knowledge. His deep rooted knowledge of the Holy Scriptures, social psychology and the history of our church have helped in further strengthening our Parish and fellowship amongst parishioners. Lovely Kochamma, daughter Gargi and son Gautham joined Achen in Kuwait on 11th January 2011. Gargi and Gautham have enrolled as students at the Indian Community School, Salmiya.

Parish Choir With blessings from God almighty, St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church Choir completed its fourth year. The Choir comprises of 66 dedicated choristers including 13 devoted organists and 5 talented guitarists. Our Junior Choir is blessed with 32 children mainly leading the English Holy Communion services every month. These teams of Junior and senior choir members work together with a great mission of leading the congregation in the worship services of our church held at St. Thomas centre and NECK, every Fridays and Tuesdays respectively. The Choir practices are held regularly, to mould each member for this mission. June 4th 2010 was set apart as the ‘choir day’, another rededication time for the whole choir family and a day when those newly selected to the choir were integrated to this humble ministry. A memorable event of 2010 was the visit of Shri. P. D. John, a renowned writer of Christian hymns whose many hymns have been included in the Kristhiya Keerthanam and the Maramon Convention song books. The choir sang a number of his meaningful songs on the 2nd July 2010 service, which he attended, as a token of appreciation for his dedication and ardor in the development of our church’s music ministry. The fervent leadership given by the choir for the Kudumba Naveekarana Dhyanam was spiritually enriching for the choir members themselves, as it was to other participants. On 18th December 2010, the choir led the parish in celebrating the 4th Christmas Carol service under the theme ‘The King of Glory’. The anthem ’Lift up Your Heads’ from Handel’s messiah was the highlight of the festive season. We acknowledge with gratitude, the support and prayers rendered by all our parishioners. We praise THE ALMIGHTY with grateful hearts for the grace bestowed upon us during the past year. Parish choir accounts had a total receipt of KD. 2,499 Fils 790 and payment KD. 2,001 Fils 520 during the year with a cash balance of KD. 498 Fils 270.

Gratitude Looking back, our parish has had yet another year of growth and prosperity, all with the divine providence of Jesus Christ. It is hence imperative that we raise our hearts in prayers and gratitude, first and foremost to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ for all the blessing that He has showered on us individually and collectively as a Parish and most importantly as Mar Thoma Church. Further, a number of names and individuals need special mention on this occasion, and on behalf of the Vicar and Kaisthana Samithi, let me extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to them, for making this year a success. To H.H. The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, H.H. The Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah and the H.H. The Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al Muhammad Al Sabah, the Government of Kuwait and other local authorities, for granting us the rights to worship as a parish and church in this country. To Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Valiaya Metropolitan, Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan and the members of the Episcopal Synod for their wisdom, prayers and guidance. To Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Palouse, our Diocesan Bishop, for his guidance, love, prayers and support extended to this Parish. To Rev. Ammanual B. Gareeb, Chairman of NECK Common Council and Mr. K. P. Koshy, Administrator - NECK Common Council, for their immense help, support and cooperation in our activities. To Rev. K. G. Koshy for his Continues Support during his visit to Kuwait To the Vicars and the Office Bearers and members of Ahmadi Mar Thoma Parish, St. Peters Mar Thoma Parish, St. Johns Mar Thoma Parish and St. James Mar Thoma Parish for their valuable support and cooperation. To Mr. Adnan, the owner of the facility housing our St. Thomas Center, for being kind enough to provide us with the building, without which our Parish would have been severely handicapped in having a proper place of worship. Indian Community school management, Board members and Mr. Rajan Daniel, Honorable Secretary, Board of Trustees for allowing us to conduct our various programs. To Mr. Roy John and Mr. Eapen Varghese (Gigi) for re-designing, maintaining and regularly updating the Parish website. To our honorable auditors – Mr. Santhosh Mathew K. and Mr. Thomas Chacko for their valuable time and effort in ensuring the accuracy of our financial statements. To all the Kaisthana Samithi members, Prayer Group Officials, Organization leaders, Sub-Committee Conveners & Members for their valuable support and sincere efforts in making all the activities of the Parish during the year a grand success. Last but not the least, sincere thanks and prayers are extended to each and every member of this Parish, without whose support, blessing and help, the activities of the parish would never have been a success. 18
Conclusion While accepting the responsibilities as office bearers of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Parish for year 2010 / 2011, we started with important tasks such as the farewell of our first vicar, arrival of the new vicar and his visa formalities, development and utilization of St. Thomas Center etc. One of the most difficult tasks in our hand was to follow-up and obtain resident Visa for Achen, for which we had to go through a number of hurdles. With the abundant prayers and support of many, and by the grace of God almighty, everything has ended favorably. The motivation and energy behind our success during the year was the wholehearted support of all the parishioners, the Vicar, unity and teamwork of the office bearers and the grace and mercies of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As the Secretary, I was fortunate to get the support of a wonderful team, always ready to pitch in and help whenever a need arose. I wish to extend my sincere thanks to our Achen for his excellent guidance and help during the last year. I also like to put on record the support that we received from all Parish Organizations and Prayer Groups. Thanks to one and all for remembering us in your prayers. Let me us also use this opportunity to wish all the new office bearers the very best in their endeavors and we promise our continuous support in all Parish activities. I like to extend my personal thanks and gratitude to my fellow office bearers and Achen, without whom we would not have achieved our goals. I thank each and every one from the bottom of my heart for putting the trust in us and giving an opportunity to serve St. Thomas Mar Thoma Parish, Kuwait. For and on behalf of the Kaisthana Samithi 2010-2011.
