Classic cars are a type of niche that caters to a very exclusive, speci c breed of a cionados and collectors. For those who can a ord to own them, it’s a luxurious hobby. For people who are content to just admire, they can attend auto shows throughout the country or visit a variety of classic car museums around the US. For this breed of fan, there is an entire subculture. Within the classic car genre, there are even subsets of fans who love to focus on speci c eras or various features of certain limited edition car models. One thing that most enthusiasts can agree upon is that the more of a rarity a car is, the more value it has in the classic car world. Sometimes a car is rare because of the limited number that rolled o the production line in its time. Sometimes it gains fame for being a one-o concept car. For others, it is simply the age. A functioning well-maintained classic car is truly a sight to behold for those who see the beauty. Prices for the rarest cars can reach exorbitant levels. The highest one that was sold at an auction was a Ferrari 250 GTO. During this Sotheby’s event, the car was purchased for a record-breaking $48.4 million. Here are some other rare classic cars from around the world. Rolls-Royce is synonymous with being rare, old and expensive. The 1904 Rolls-Royce 15 HP was the rst-ever vehicle made by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. There were only six ever produced, with one remaining. Aston Martin appeared on the world stage in the 1940s at the London Motor Show. People admired the look of the open coach with two seats. The remaining ones in circulation only exist in private collections and museums. Porsche is a household name and the 916 model is often regarded as the hidden jewel in the crown. Its specialness extends beyond that, as it is one of the rarest cars in the world today. Only 11 prototypes were produced before the project was canceled. This left a sadness among the racing community since it was the lightest and fastest car at the time. Ferrari is another car manufacturer that people are very familiar with. The 250 Spider was revealed in Switzerland to massive praise yet only 55 cars were ever built.
