ELFER – SPORTS MOUNTAIN IN NEUSTIFT

The largest walk-in sundial in the Alpine region also awaits you up the Elfer, Neustift’s local mountain, next to the top station. Not only do daredevil paragliders take off into the air from there, but you can also start informative tours on the Geh-Zeiten-Wege, the paths into the Pinnis Valley and to the “Gratzengrübel” natural site.

It’s extremely easy to make intensive use of the time with your family on the Elfer, the sports mountain in Neustift. If you want to experience a sunset in the mountains after the sunrise, the Elferbahnen is the right place for you. Once a week in summer, you have the opportunity to experience dusk in the Stubai Valley in a special way during a sunset trip. During the day, on the other hand, pure action awaits all sports enthusiasts on the Elfer: paragliding, biking and climbing opportunities provide a delightful change of scenery around the rocky formation of the Elfer Towers. Impressive hikes to vantage points below the summit massif are just as much a part of the experience as leisurely family hikes into the picturesque Pinnis Valley.

The three Geh-Zeiten-Wege with their different themes reveal fascinating facts about natural phenomena at various stations. On a hike along the Sonnenzeit, Blütenzeit or Steinzeit trail, inquisitive researchers learn exciting and interesting facts about units of time, the alpine fauna cycle and how the mountains change and age. The starting point for these hikes, which are almost seven kilometres long when combined, is the largest walk-in sundial in the Alpine region, which also towers at the top of the Elfer.
