STUDENT VOLUNTEERING WEEK 10-16TH FEBRUARY


MONDAY 10th FEBRUARY

Alington House Paint a ceramic bird feeder with the Alington House Visually Impaired Group! Meet outside Alington House on the Bailey at 11am. The session will end at 1pm.


TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY

St Margaret's Coffee Morning Go along for a coffee and a chat with the residents of St Margaret's Care Home! Meet at St Margaret's Care Home which is just off Crossgate at 10:45am. The session will be finished by 12pm.


TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY

Teesdale Lunch Club Chat with socially isolated, elderly members of the community over lunch! Meet at the Palatine Centre at 11am and you'll be driven by Katie Binks, acting Head of Student Volunteering, in the DUSVO car.


TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY

GOALs Social Club Enjoy a fun evening with our Goals project, socialising with adults with learning difficulties. Meet at the Library Bar at 7pm. The session will finish by 9pm.


WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY

Auckland Castle Conservation Spend the day helping to look after the beautiful parks and gardens at Auckland Castle. Transport will be arranged and details will be finalised following sign up. Meet at 9am.


WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY

Beyond Boundaries Join us for a stress-busting few hours socialising with teenagers and adults with learning difficulties on a beautiful farm! Meet at the Palatine Centre at 11am and you'll be driven by one of our project leaders in the DUSVO car. You will be back in Durham around 4pm.


WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY

Stockton Road Cemetery Gardening Help provide a peaceful place to walk, sit and meditate, whilst maintaining this historic cemetery. Meet at the cemetery which is opposite the Palatine Centre at 2pm. This session ends at 4pm.


WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY

Elderly Tea Parties Come along for a chat and entertainment with local Durham residents. Meet at St Oswald's Institute on Church Street at 2:30 pm. The tea party will finish at 4:30pm.


WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY

Code Club Come and help run an evening coding club for primary school students! Some experience in Python or Scratch required. Meet in ER151 at 6:00pm. Code Club will finish at 7:30pm.


THURSDAY 13TH FEBRUARY

Foodbank Volunteering Spend the day completing a wide range of handson tasks in Durham's Foodbank Warehouse. Meet at the Palatine Centre at 9am and you'll be driven to the foodbank in the DUSVO car. You will be back by 1:30pm.


THURSDAY 13TH FEBRUARY

DASH Outreach Afternoon Provide a helping hand to DASH, a local charity supporting the homeless. Activities could include sorting food/clothes donations, furniture upcycling, painting and gardening. Meet at the DASH Offices at 12pm which are based in Gilesgate. You can either walk to the location or get the bus. (Bus fares will be reimbursed). The outreach day will finish at 4pm.


THURSDAY 13TH FEBRUARY

Old Durham Gardens Take a break from work and get some fresh air volunteering in this beautiful old walled garden! Meet at the Palatine Centre at 3pm and we will all walk over together. The session will finish at 5pm.


THURSDAY 13TH FEBRUARY

Keenan House Homework Club Come and help primary school children with their homework and then enjoy a variety of activities. Meet at Keenan House, next to the University Hospital of North Durham at 5pm, or at Durham Bus Station at 4:30pm. The session will end at 7pm.


SATURDAY 15TH FEBRUARY

Seaham Beach Clean Escape Durham for the day and help conserve the lovely Seaham coastline! Meet at Durham bus station at 11:40am. There will be time for fish and chips before the 3pm bus back. All bus tickets will be reimbursed.
