ABOUT ORIENTATION
NSO is going to take place throughout the summer to allow students more convenient access to the university. We welcome students to attend the date that best fits their schedule. However, we are going to have each college represented during a specific event; making it easy for students to meet with representatives from their college of interest. This does not mean that you have to attend on that date. We will still make sure that all of your questions will be answered, no matter which date you sign up for.

The Associated Students of Idaho State University (ASISU) is the governing body representing student interests. Modeled after the United States government with three distinct branches, ASISU serves students while fulfilling its motto of “Students Helping Students.” Annual elections for the executive and legislative branches are held each spring, to choose students to serve during the next academic school year. Candidates for all other positions are interviewed and appointed. All areas work closely with staff advisors. This system ensures that student views are widely represented. Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) provides ISU students and staff with outdoor opportunities through classes, workshops, special events, and adventure trips. Campus Recreation promotes physical activity and healthy lifestyles by providing equipment, space, information and atmosphere. For students, we offer: Free individual and small-group tutoring in math, writing, and content area courses ranging from anthropology to zoology. MOODLE
Moodle, found in BengalWeb, is ISU’s “learning management system.” It allows students to participate in courses that are offered totally or partially online. Instructors may use Moodle to provide students with online course descriptions, handouts, syllabi, grading information, or to deliver the class fully online with a variety of tools. If Moodle is used for a class, just sign in to BengalWeb, and then click the Moodle icon near the top of the screen.

This is a very exciting time as you get ready to start your experience at Idaho State University. You have made many preparations and decisions before getting here. One big question that might be on your mind is “where should I live?” University Housing has the answer to this question. For those just entering the University, the residence halls are a great solution.
The Student Health Center provides full-spectrum medical care to students. From fracture care to treating depression, there are a broad range of conditions cared for at Student Health. Office visits are free for fulltime students. When billable services such as x-ray exams, laboratory studies, and special procedures are involved, the Student Health Center bills private insurance as well as student insurance. Students do not need to purchase student insurance in order to use the Student Health Center—all students are welcome!
We provide reasonably priced rooms that are close to everything on campus, and meals are included as a part of the residence hall package. You will have the option of eating in one of our great retail areas or in the Turner Dining Commons; all provide excellent food and a friendly atmosphere. Grocery shopping, cooking and doing dishes don’t have to be a part of your housing experience. We are ready to help you on your way to success at Idaho State University. Veterans’ Sanctuary
The Veterans’ Sanctuary at Idaho State University is the first transition and support program of its kind in the United States. Our mission is simple, to provide first-class service to military veterans of all eras attending ISU. We have a support team to provide guidance from the moment student veterans arrive on campus until they graduate. The Sanctuary offers orientations designed for new student veterans, free vet-to-vet tutoring, access to academic advisors trained to work with veterans, sections of general education classes set aside for veterans and taught by faculty members who are either veterans themselves or supporters, events and activities for student veterans, and much more. We help with the transition from active military duty to ISU, and from ISU to active military duty. The Earl R. Pond Student Union serves as the focal point for campus life and experiential education at Idaho State University. Among the facilities are lounges, an ATM, food court, billiards, computer lab, bookstore, meeting rooms, and student government offices. The Pond Student Union also offers bowling, The Bengal Theater, a barbershop, KISU radio station, the Outdoor Adventure Center, and much more. The Pond Student Union also houses the Union Program Council (UPC). The UPC is a 5 member student board who work collaboratively to plan the Student Unions’ traditional campus events at Idaho State University. The UPC plans, creates and designs opportunities for students to be involved in campus and the community. During the summer of 2011 several renovations are going to take place which will result in an event greater experience at the Pond Student Union, including a new branch of the Idaho State University Credit Union, Student Card Services, completely renovated arcade and billiards area and a brand new food court.
