What are you most excited about your senior year? “Some things that I’m most excited about for my senior year are football, basketball, cheerleading, leading my FBLA chapter as president, and senior activities with my graduating class.” What is an important life lesson you have learned in high school? “An important life lesson I have learned is to never lose track of your values. I believe having good values can get you through your challenges of life.”

grow up? “Hmm? That is a tough question. I’ve gone between wanting to study sports medicine to elementary others.” What are your college plans? “I haven’t completely made my decision on a university yet. After visiting several universities, I have narrowed my decision to Central Methodist or Westminster at this time.”

What do you think is the most important key to great friendships? “I believe respect and trust are the keys to maintaining any relationship. When you have these two important pieces in a relationship, there is nothing you cannot work out!” What do you want to be when you

What has cheerleading taught you about life/teamwork? “I’ve been a cheerleader since 5th grade, it’s been a lot of dedication. To be a winning team, you learn to put differences aside and work together. You lean on each other. It’s a sisterhood. I will have a connection with these girls for a lifetime.” What has drama/singing taught you about fear? when I’m in front of a crowd. Being in choir and being part of a group of so many different voices that make harmonies and melodies seem effortless is amazing and inspiring. Being a part of this makes me fearless.”

SS

What are you most excited for during your senior year? “Knowing it’s my last year I’m excited about planning for college, enjoying the year as a senior and all that means...I’m ready to rule the school!” What will you miss the most about high school? “I will miss the friends I’ve grown up with, talking with them in the hallways and the close connections I have with my teachers. I’m a little bit of a geek, I like school, I’ll miss everything that is high school.”

What do you want to be when you grow up? “Growing up in the country, I have always had a love of animals. From nursing kittens to bottle calves, I have known from an early age I wanted to be a Veterinarian. I’m focused and I’ll get there.” What are your college plans? “I hope to stay close to home for my undergraduate studies. My graduate goal is the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine, and hopefully I can practice as a vet right here in my hometown...a vet who rides a Harley!”

SPRING & SUMMER 2013 Teen Accessories

Prints and Pastels PRETTY PASTEL ACCESSORIES

Spring has sprung, and with it comes fresh, pretty pastel shades. To wear this trend right, accessories. Don’t overdo it though! Never wear more than two pastel pieces at a time, and balance the rest with wear-with-everything basics (think little black dresses, denim jackets, and low-key tees).

FIERCE PRINT PATTERNS

One of the safest ways to wear animal prints is to choose accessories, especially if you cannot see yourself rocking a blouse or a dress with animal prints. A pair of shoes, a scarf, a belt, or a handbag will instantaneously boost your look. As “less is more” will never go out of style, one single accessory with animal print is enough, but matched with black, brown or pastels. A thin daring.

If you really want to layer up on the pinks, purples, and mints, incorporate an item with a pretty print. As far as accessories go, metallics mesh great with cutesy colors, as do edgier add-ons like studs and sparkles. With such chic elements accompanying your pastels, you are sure to sweeten up your style this spring.

Never mix different types of animal prints, but instead use one print and match it accordingly with neutrals and solid colors, especially black, bright white, gray, brown, and beige. For example, a leopard print works great with gold, such as a golden belt or a necklace, while a zebra print in white/black/gray tones can be worn with pastels and blue accessories. Make and clean.

SPRING & SUMMER 2013 Teen Fashion Trends

B a lan c in g B R I GH TS and NEUTRALS This season, designers overwhelmingly address consumers’ desire for selfexpression, balance and the need to re-energize. The color direction for spring and summer mixes dynamic brights with novel neutrals to create a harmonious balance. This allows for unique combinations that offer practicality and versatility, but at the same time, demand attention and earn an appreciative glance.

Combine Monaco Blue with Poppy Red and Linen, or Monaco Blue and Emerald for a fresh collegiate look. For an unexpected mix, pair Dusk Blue with the intensity of Nectarine. A warm neutral, Linen is light and airy, providing a nude-like basic that is a must have for spring or summer. Try pairing Linen with Grayed Jade or Dusk Blue.

The prevalence of green this spring and summer is undeniable. Similar to the many shades in our natural surroundings, this season’s greens offer a stunning foreground or the perfect backdrop for all other hues. Exotic African Violet is a statement color that brings a touch of intrigue to the palette. Try pairing it with exuberant Poppy Red, a seductive, sensual and celebratory shade.
