WHAT TO EXPECT At Studio 406 we are a full service studio. We are not just going to hand you a CD of images for you to figure out what to do with and leaving your only printing option to be a drug store type print lab with poor print quality & funky color tones. We also know how confusing it can be to try navigate ordering all those prints or not knowing if they will turn out or if you are  getting an actual archival product you a product you can pass down. We will guide you through the process, take care of the ordering for you, and deliver you a beautiful professional product you can cherish for a lifetime.

Along with this prep guide we have also sent a questionnaire to your email for you to fill out to gather info to help us best prepare for your session. If you would like to set up a time to swing by the studio and meet with your photographer to go over all the details of your session and answer any questions you may have please let us know. We understand schedules can be hectic so we can easily take care of this consult over the phone. Whatever works best for your schedule!

We will contact you a day or two before your session to to remind you and confirm our meeting time & place, and answer any last minute questions you may still have. Don’t worry, we’ll keep an eye on the weather forecast and contact you (the day of or day before) if we feel the session time may need to be moved. Please note there is a re-scheduling fee should you need to reschedule your session once your time is reserved. [No fee shall be incurred should photographer decide to reschedule due to weather.]

DAY OF YOUR SENIOR SESSION

On the day of your session, we’ll meet at the agreed time and location and get started making memories! This should be a fun and special event and will result in keepsakes for the rest of your life. We understand how important your investment is, and we ensure that we will make the most of our time together. We realize that some people can be a little camera shy. No worries! We’ll take as much time as needed to get you relaxed and used to the camera. You won’t have to worry about a thing! We will guide you through your shoot and tell you how to pose to make sure you look your best!

AFTER

YOUR SENIOR SESSION

Approx one week after your session we will contact you to schedule your viewing and ordering appointment where you will preview your images in a custom slideshow. After your slideshow viewing we will go through each of the photos in your gallery and pick your favorites for print. At this session we will guide you through the ordering process, assist you in choosing your prints & keepsakes, and answer any questions along the way. All images chosen for print will be retouched and enhanced for best quality. All albums & keepsake products ordered are designed uniquely for you. All of our prints and products are professionally printed, heirloom quality, and guaranteed for life.

TIPS TO PREPARE Try to get a lot of REST the night before your shoot. Don’t stress over it; trust me we’re going to have a great time together! Make sure you EAT before your session so you’re not miserably hungry. If you are bringing family or friends to your session, feed them, too! And be sure they’re aware we’ll be photographing for a couple of hours. Red or peeling skin is not a good accessory and neither are tan lines! please use sunscreen in the time leading up to your session. to minimize tan lines wear varied swimsuit tops. Don't worry about acne or a few blemishes! we will take care of that during the retouching process. Scars/birth marks will be removed only at your request. Please tell us at the time of your session what your preference is. Severe acne may require extensive retouching. If extensive retouching is necessary, it will not be done on proofs, but will be done on the prints that you order. For the best look we recommend professional hair & make-up. if you have scheduled hair & make-up with us you will receive further instructions. H&MU is available to our seniors for only $50! If you have not scheduled hair & make-up and would like to do so please contact us!

TIPS CONT.... Pay attention to your nails! Your hands will be showing in many of your photos. Be sure that if your nails are painted, the polish is not chipped. neutral colors usually work best with most looks. make sure finger nails are clean and filed. Professional polish is included in our full senior sessions, so ladies don't forget to schedule your appointment! The info to do so will be in your confirm email. If it is not included in your session & you would like to add a professional polish for only $10 please contact us for scheduling info! Same applies to toenails. We might do some bare-feet shots so make sure your feet look their best! GUYS – this goes for you, too! I know it may seem obvious, but don’t forget to shave your legs and underarms. they may be seen in photos. Guys don't forget to shave and/or trim up any facial hair before your session. If you wear glasses and want to wear them in your photos, please see your optometrist about the option to have your lenses removed for your session to avoid lens glare in your photos. If you chose to or must wear your glasses in your photos with the lenses in, please be aware you may see a glare on the lens, rather than your eyes, in the photo.

WHAT TO WEAR Be fashionable. Wear clothing that’s stylish and put a lot of thought into your choices. This is a unique opportunity and we want you to look amazing! Depending on your session type you will get numerous outfit changes. We recommend bringing A LOT of options. The more outfits we have to choose from, the better. This will give us flexibility in matching your clothing to backgrounds and the surroundings. Group your outfits together on hangers. Make sure items are wrinkle free and ready to go. Plan on changing quickly. The faster you change, the more time we have to photograph and the more photo choices you’ll have later. Make sure you’re comfortable in your clothing and that it flatters you. This will ensure that you like how you look when viewing your photos. If you’re self-conscious about your arms, avoid sleeveless or capsleeve shirts and tank tops, as they tend to make arms look fuller.

WHAT TO WEAR Try to avoid too many "patterns". Solid colors photograph much better than busy patterns. Accessorize! Stacks of bangles, long necklaces, statement pieces, scarves, hats, bright shoes and other add-ons can make or break an outfit! Wearing Layers and textures is awesome too!! Do NOT choose fluorescent colors, as they cause unwanted color casting. Please make sure the colors of your undergarment coordinate well with your outfits and don’t show through your clothing. We never want to see bra straps. Tucking or moving straps will not always work or give the most pleasing look. Check ahead of time to ensure that undergarments don’t leave unpleasing lines underneath your clothing. Clothing - Bring a variety of colors and mix the level of styles. Some should be formal/dressy, some dressy-casual, and some casual.

WHAT TO WEAR If you’re comfortable in dresses, bring them! They photograph really well and offer a nice variety from your other casual clothing choices. We can mix dressy and casual dresses for some great looks. We love the look of heels! Whether pumps or boots, dressy or casual, plain or sassy, heels really make you stand out and look glamorous. Flats also work well when you pair them with the right outfit. Please do NOT wear flip-flops. Yes, they’re comfy and we all love them, but they don’t photograph well! but comfy shoes are a good idea to bring to wear for walking in between shooting.

WHAT TO BRING it's a good idea to bring a bottle or two of water and a snack. Being a model is hard work and we will be spending a few hours shooting your session, Most of the locations we shoot are outside so bug spray may also be a good idea! Touch-up stuff – lip balm, lipstick, powder, hairspray, etc. Props are great! Bring props that help show who you are. Some examples are: Sports equipment, Sports uniforms, Musical instruments, Activity related items (dance, art, school clubs, etc.), favorite book, favorite band t-shirt. things that are special to you Be fashionable. Wear clothing that’s stylish and put a lot of thought into your choices. This is a unique opportunity and we want you to look amazing!

WHAT TO BRING Vehicles are welcome at outdoor sessions (be sure they're clean, inside and out!). we can also take photos of you with your snowmobile, quad, dirt bike, etc. Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing props so that we can think up some really creative ideas on how to showcase you with them! Also please let us know if you plan to include a pet, friend, or family member in your session. Bring ideas! We would love to hear if you have an idea for a pose or a photo! All input is welcome!
