GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT PER CAPITA IN INDIA IS LESS THAN HALF OF THE ONE OF GOA. PANJIM IS THE CAPITAL OF GOA, FONTAINHAS IS THE LATIN QUARTER OF PANJIM CITY -A HERITAGE AREA WHERE ONE CAN STILL SEE THE PORTUGUESE INFLUENCE ON ARCHITECTURE. PICTURESQUE, COLORFUL FACADES AND 18TH CENTURY CHURCHES CONTRIBUTE TO THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF THE DISTRICT. Thursday, June 30, 2011
THE AIM OF THE PROJECT WAS TO FIND A WAY TO INFILL THE FABRIC OF FONTAINHAS WITH NEW ARCHITECTURAL CONTENT, GENERATING NEW MODELS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE FUTURE. EMPTY LOTS WERE IDENTIFIED, AND ONE OF THEM SELECTED FOR FURTHER WORK. HOWEVER, THE PROJECT’S LOGIC CAN BE APPLIED TO ANY EMPTY LOT FOUND WITHIN THE DISTRICT, AND ADDITIONAL INFILLS CAN BE BUILT TO SERVE SIMILAR PURPOSE.
