At the occasion of the Philippe Van Snick exhibition in M. M van Museum Leuven (21.05 – 29.08.10), ASA is publishing the book Philippe Van Snick. This monograp is a first and extensive overview of the oeuvre of Philippe Van Snick. Lavishly illustrated, it compiles a scholarly effort of many years, with texts by Marie-Pascale Gildemyn, who has written a detailed chronology mapping the work from its earliest stages till today. An interview with Anny De Decker by Liesbeth Decan zooms in on his relation with Wide White Space Gallery. Hilde Van Gelder analyses the artist’s conceptual practice, while Alexander Streitberger examines the use of the book format as object and idea with Van Snick. Liesbeth Decan is focusing on the photographic work, Hans De Wolf investigates the relationship between Van Snick and Marcel Duchamp, and Paul Tanghe muses over the contemplative space opened by the work. A contribution by Lore Van Hees concentrates on “Sferen”, the ephemere in situ installation of Van Snick in M.
