FEBRUARY ‘22

From the Editor

hello dear reader! I hope this finds you and your loved ones doing well. How are you liking this cold snap we've been having for the past couple of weeks? I must confess I have enjoyed wearing boots, turtle necks, and trench coats for my meetings. I find winter attire super elegant. Honestly, I wish we'd have all different seasons so we could dress accordingly. For those who are not too keen on the cold weather, count your blessings. At least we don't have to deal with snow. Believe me, I think snow is super pretty but it can get very messy and cause a lot of trouble. So, let's take what we are given with a grateful heart. The grass is greener on this side! Take the opportunity to perhaps enjoy the fireplace that rarely gets lit, get cozy on the sofa or bed and enjoy a book or binge-watch on a favorite show. There are tons of great ones on Netflix and the like! If you need recommendations, don't hesitate to reach out! But I must warn you, I am a period piece kind of girl. You can even catch up on reading past issues of this editorial. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this issue of The Mag.

Till next issue,

Regina Correa

Adding Color in a Neutral-Toned Home or Office

W

hen a client approaches me to get color into their space, it’s such a delight! Color is one of my favorite subjects! I feel color makes the world a happier place. We live a harmonious life because of the colors nature brings to us every single day. Look around you and try picturing our planet without the colors we enjoy daily: the green and brown tones of the trees, the blue tones and the yellow to orange tones of the sun, are just a few examples. Colors play a major role in our lives and so it should in our (interior) living. After all, can you imagine if everything was just, beige? Perhaps you’re thinking “but beige is color, is it not?” Yes, it is but, beige is a very pale, lifeless color. If you investigate the psychology of color, you will discover the use of color is very beneficial to your mental health and well-being. While there is nothing wrong with living in a space that is neutral-toned and soothing, this article is for those who are in search of ways to add color to enhance the look and feel of their homes or offices. Adding a few pops of color in specific, meaningful ways will certainly liven up a space in need of extra energy, harmony, and flair. This can be easily done in non-committing ways. In other words, what I will recommend can be removed or replaced at any time and is very easy to accomplish. Items such as art, rugs, throw pillows, window treatments, removable wallpaper, and accessories are the elements you will look for. Since neutral spaces are very much like a blank canvas, decide what colors or color combinations you’re most comfortable adding. From cool to warm, and many vibrant tones in between, there is a myriad of tones that you can use to transform your space. Don’t be afraid to be adventurous, after all, you can’t go wrong. Remember your neutral-toned space is like a blank canvas. Some may opt for soothing, pastel colors like lavender, pale yellows, blues, and greens while others may go to the other end of the spectrum and choose deep or vibrant tones like teal, navy blue, hunter green, burgundy, bright yellow, and so on. An easy starting point is using a piece of art, rug or fabric with a few colors that you can use as a guide from which you’ll pull your colors. You cannot go wrong. If none of these items are inspiring, find a color combo that works well together and use it. Keep in mind that using different combos in different rooms, add interest and pizzazz. another should coordinate for a sense of flow. A few possible color combos are mustard and gray, moss green and tan, emerald and caramel, dusty rose and olive green, black, white and red, and so on.

If your space is cool-toned - white or gray – select warm tones which will balance and harmonize the space. If your space is warm-toned - beige or caramel - it will work well with either cool or warm tones. Once you select your tones, have fun adding all the elements mentioned earlier throughout your home. Large artworks and rugs will make a bigger impact. Drapery panels hung at least 12 inches above the window trim (if possible) and always touching the floors are also impactful. Lastly, add the finishing touches with throw pillows, accessories, and plants. 4 | Riche Home and Lifestyle

"Louisiana is in my blood... my roots run deep into the soil. I leave from time to time, yet always seem to return. I pick up skills and perspectives from my travels then come home to put them into practice. I've learned to listen deeply and connect with the unique landscape that surrounds us every day. I strive to showcase the beauty of the world we live in by allowing it to speak for itself... Letting the elements come together in such a harmonious way that we have no choice but to stop and feel it. "
