NOVEMBER ‘21
From the Editor
HELLO DEAR READER! I hope this finds you and your loved ones doing well. 'Tis the season of giving thanks! November is here, and Thanksgiving is around the corner. I am so very grateful for another year of helping my clients live better lives. I’m also thankful for you, who take the time to read this publication, as well as those who follow me on social media. Although I am still displaced due to Hurricane Ida, I know I am not alone. A lot of people are hurting right now. For many, what was home is no longer and it might take years for them to recover. If you know anyone, reach out, having someone to talk to helps. On a personal level, I'm grateful for great health, amazing trips, a safe place to stay for the time being, and great support from my beloved, family, and friends. I'm truly grateful.
Wishing you and yours a fantastic Thanksgiving,
Regina Correa

iving in a home that is curated to your wants and needs isn’t necessarily a luxury. It is an essential commodity most people do not realize. The notion that interior design is for the rich is a thing of the past. Living in a place that reflects your lifestyle affects you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Anyone working on creating their sanctuary, a place to unwind, relax and enjoy life, is to be commended.

By definition, interior design is the art or practice of planning and supervising the design and execution of architectural interiors and their furnishings. The role of an interior designer is to create a space that is beautiful and stylish while addressing the functionality and safety of those living in that space. He or she will create an environment in which you feel nurtured, loved, happy, comfortable, and safe. There are many ways hiring an interior designer is beneficial to you, here are just a few: Improving the space Creating a functional floor plan, opening, closing, or dividing the space, Adding appropriate lighting that enhances the elements in it, Adding suitable furnishing accessories, and art. Creating storage and organization thus reducing or eliminating stress. Combining function, safety, and beauty Expertly bringing multifunctional elements. Creating a relaxing environment. Use materials that ensure your health and wellbeing. Saves time, money, and mistakes Guidance prevents poor decisions and prevents you from wasting money remediating poor choices: Reducing repetitive trials to remediate things. 3 | Riche Home and Lifestyle
Keeping you from purchasing wrong furnishings and accessories: (wrong scale, size, color, quality, etc...) Saves you time lost in attempting to figure out what to do, where/how to place things, etc... Presenting proven solutions. Creating a safe, nurturing space for those aging in place Selecting materials that comply with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), if necessary. Eliminating obstructions: wider door openings, curbless shower with grab bars, appropriate furniture placement, etc... Selecting appropriate colors and lighting - aiding depth perception Adding elements for easier, safer living: leverstyle door handles and faucets, non-slippery floors, etc… Creating a space that is visually appealing, nurturing, and comfortable. Affecting your mood or state of mind Selecting colors that will positively affect your mood.Selecting furnishings that are right for your lifestyle. Adding specific decorative elements and art. Creating a stress-free environment with your wants and needs, all while being beautiful, welcoming, and comfortable. Increasing resale value Select the appropriate elements that will increase the value of your home. Making your home much more appealing to buyers.
I hope these helped you better understand how interior design is beneficial to you. As an interior designer, my duty is to ensure my clients’ wants and needs are heard and addressed in the best way possible. The line items above are just a few of the things designers keep in mind when creating your space. Your home or office impacts how you live, work, and feel. Ensure that you live or work in an environment that is so beautiful, nurturing, and functional that you will never want to leave.

These tablescapes by @casadeperrin are amazing! Wow your guests by taking inspiration from these beautiful table settings. Edit it as you wish and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Modern and simple setting: modern silverware and white plates are anchored by fresh flowers, modern glassware, and a white tablecloth with a subtle abstract design on it.
Traditional setting: the silverware has the elements of the season (wood-look and brown tones). The stone-looking modern plates are anchored by the detailed charger plate and the centerpiece enhances the fall feeling with fall flowers, dried leaves, and gourds.
Elegant setting: the golden tones and intricate designs on the glass plates and vintage brown glasses set the tone on this elegant tablescape. The centerpiece with its brown and green leaves, flanked by roses adds just enough beauty so as to not overwhelm the setting.

Gabrielle TolliverAbstract Painter Tell us a bit about yourself and your background Image by: Domonique Tolliver My name is Gabrielle Tolliver. I am a 23-year-old abstract painter. Being a New Orleans native has placed me in a world of constant artistic expression. From an early age, I often found myself engaged in the arts in one form or another. The first was dance, then music, but my heart has found its forever home in visual arts. While studying painting at Xavier University of Louisiana I was able to discover my true passion for painting. How/why did you become an artist? Entering into the visual arts field was a bit unexpected. I was in my first year at Xavier taking a freshman seminar class with the painting instructor Ron Bechet. His presence and enthusiasm always left me feeling fulfilled so I inquired about taking another class led by him. Through his painting class, I was able to learn about expressing myself through traditional forms of visual arts and fell in love with this concept. Further into my college career, my professors continued to push my practice by introducing me to nontraditional ways of creating and interpreting art. Learning of these practices and previous artists associated with them, I began to find a great appreciation for abstract art. The Abstract Expressionist Period gave room for artists to use their practice as a meditative space. The paintings grew to be more about how the artist's surroundings made them feel instead of how things were visually perceived. Using this as the backbone of my practice, I have used visual arts to navigate my early adulthood. We are currently in a turbulent social, political, and environmental climate; this made it a necessity for me to have a creative outlet to reflect upon our times. Image by: Gabrielle Tolliver
What is your philosophy/ what moves you to create your art? My philosophy for creating art is to become a vessel for reflection. I like to place myself in a meditative position that allows me to freely express the joys and conflicts held not only internally, but those that are expressed in my external surroundings as well.

Where do you get inspiration? I get my inspiration from multiple places. In my overall practice and passion for painting, I look to the Abstract Expressionist period, specifically artists Sam Gilliam and Helen Frankenthaler. With creating my layered watercolor pieces I often gain inspiration from the natural environment around me. The many parts that create the whole landscape of our natural world are all critical to the smooth functioning of our ecosystem. Without one there will not be another. While creating my acrylic paintings I am often inspired by the experiences and traumas the African diaspora has encountered throughout history. Their stories, often under shared, showcase a plethora of resilient and innovative minds. These experiences layer throughout history to shape the course of the diaspora, serving as the foundation for my life and the compass for where I will go. Looking at the world as smaller parts that come together to create an overall whole is a lens I often use while creating my personal art.
Why art is important, in your opinion. Completing my college career during the emergence of COVID has reemphasized the importance of creation and community building through the arts. Using visual arts as a form of self expression, release, and a direct reflection of the world around us, I have been able to navigate the constant ebb and flow of life. Personally, I believe art houses great opportunities for people to have an outlet to release, reflect, and better rationalize how our everyday life plays a major role in our overall well being. In theory, and hopefully in future practice, these opportunities would lead to better care of all people’s mental health and provide substantial resources to better maintain the overall wellbeing of our society. What else would you like our readers to know about you? In times like these, it’s important to remember to look up, give thanks, and continue to pass your blessings on. Image by: Gabrielle Tolliver

To Travel is a Gift I came across this post on Instagram which stopped me in my tracks. Portugal has been on my radar for quite some time. We were set to go to Lisbon in May 2020 but had to cancel our plans due to the pandemic. This photo is insanely amazing to me. From the stunning color palette to the rock formations and this breathtaking view. The colors and such majestic site are just so mesmerizing! I cannot wait to visit Portugal!
