Jan Fabre (Antwerp, 1958), a visual artist, theatre artist and author, is considered one of the most innovative and significant figures in the world of contemporary international art. He was the first contemporary artist to realize a solo exhibition at the Louvre Museum in Paris (2008) and the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg (2017). He has presented numerous installations in public venues ranging from the Tivoli Castle (1990), the Royal Palace in Brussels (2002), the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts in Brussels (2013), and the Cathedral of Antwerp (2015). In Italy, the artist is represented by the Studio Trisorio where his solo exhibits My Only Nation is Imagination (2017) and Homage to Hieronymus Bosch in Congo (2019) were held as part of the grand Oro Rosso exhibition realized together with the Capodimonte Museum, the Madre Museum and the Pio Monte della Misericordia. In December of 2019, Fabre consolidated his strong ties with the city of Naples with his permanent installation of four large coral statues in the chapel of the Pio Monte della Misericordia in relation to the seventeenth century works of Caravaggio, Bernardo Azzolino, Luca Giordano and Fabrizio Santafede. In 2023, two new permanent works were inaugurated at the Real Cappella del Tesoro di San Gennaro and at the Church of Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio ad Arco.
