Multi-City Summer Combination Programs
SAI Summer Combination Programs & Experiences (SCOPE) offer a unique opportunity to combine two distinct SAI summer programs in two different cities for a reduced cost. In Summer 2017, SAI offers four SCOPE programs, all starting in Florence at Florence University of the Arts, and combining some of the most vibrant European cities.

Can’t settle on the perfect location to study abroad in the summer? Studying in more than one place may be your answer. Studying abroad in two distinct cities allows students to get to know and become comfortable in two places, while also developing more varied cross-cultural understanding and experiencing their discipline in varying contexts. Students studying in SAI multi-city programs experience different languages, cuisines, architecture, histories, and cultures, all in one program. SAI students in these programs are supported by on-site staff in each location, who help them make a seamless transition between their locations. Students are welcomed in each city, and are offered unique activities that help them to get to know their host city, and build a strong community. SAI offers two Multi-City program types: Summer Combination Programs & Experiences (SCOPE), and Central Saint Martins (CSM) Dual City Design.

SCOPE A 7 weeks Florence & Paris PCA (3 + 4 credits) SAI SCOPE A offers students the combination of Florence University of the Arts (FUA) and Paris College of Art (PCA). Students begin at FUA in the 3 week Summer II term, enrolling in one 3 credit elective course. Students then travel independently to Paris for PCA’s 4 week Summer I term. At PCA students enroll in two 2 credit courses, all with an emphasis on creativity, fashion and art. Course Highlights: Accessory Design, Florence Sketchbook, Editorial Fashion Photography, Writing in Paris. Paris College of Art (PCA) is a premier art and design school firmly rooted in the rich artistic landscape of Paris. For over 30 years it has provided students the opportunity to explore and participate in the Parisian art scene while developing their portfolio under the guidance of respected industry professionals and academics.
SCOPE B 7 weeks Florence & London LSBU (3 + 8 credits) SAI SCOPE B offers students the combination of Florence University of the Arts (FUA) and London South Bank University (LSBU). Students begin at FUA in the 3 week Summer II term, enrolling in one elective 3 credit course. Students then travel independently to London for LSBU’s 4 week Summer I term. At LSBU students enroll in a required 4 credit course “London: City of Change” and select an additional elective 4 credit course. Course Highlights: Tuscany and its Wines, Health and Fitness in the Mediterranean, London – City of Change, Shakespeare Text and Performance. London South Bank University (LSBU) is one of London’s largest and oldest universities. Established in 1892, LSBU uses strong links with employers and industry to ensure that course content, facilities and equipment meet the demands of the 21stcentury workplace. In doing so, LSBU maintains its commitment to being a leading applied university.

SCOPE C 7 weeks Florence & Milan UCSC (3 + 6 credits) SAI SCOPE C offers students the combination of Florence University of the Arts (FUA) and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Milan. Students begin at FUA in the 3 week Summer II term, enrolling in one elective 3 credit course. At the completion of the FUA program, students have two days of independent travel to Milan, before beginning UCSC’s 4 week Summer II term. At UCSC students enroll in two back-to-back 2 week courses.
Central Saint Martins (CSM) Dual City Design Central Saint Martins, a part of the University of the Arts London (UAL), offers a unique design experience, combining studies at two renowned design schools, in the Dual City design programs. Programs are 4 weeks in length, and students complete two 2-week courses in their chosen design and fashion study.
Course Highlights: The Art of Italian Family Business, Tradition of Italian Food, A Mafia Story, Social and Eco Entrepreneurship. Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) was founded in
1921 and is the largest private university in Europe. Cattolica’s Milan campus hosts over 27,000 students per year and is located in a beautiful 8th century monastery, renovated by Bramante in the 1600s. The school is an integral part of the local community of Milan, attracting students from within Italy as well as from around the world. SCOPE D 7 weeks Florence & Milan NABA (3 + 6 credits) SAI SCOPE D offers students the combination of Florence University of the Arts (FUA) and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA). Students begin at FUA in the 3 week Summer II term, enrolling in one elective 3 credit course. At the completion of the FUA program, students have two days of independent travel to Milan, before beginning NABA’s 4 week Summer I term. At NABA students enroll in two back-to-back 2 week courses focused on design, fashion and photography.
Central Saint Martins (CSM) has a distinguished international reputation and offers one of the most diverse and comprehensive ranges of undergraduate courses in arts and design. With alumnae such as Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen, this outstanding 150 year old institution is considered the world’s number one school for fashion design.
Dual City 4 weeks New York & London (6 credits) The New York and London Dual City program offers specialization in Fashion Design, Process and Practice. Students select one subject and begin with a 2 week (3 credit) course at Parsons in New York. Following the New York course students have a few days to travel and make their way to London, and then continue their studies at CSM for their second 2 week (3 credit) course. Dual City 4 weeks London & Florence (6 credits) The London and Florence Dual City program offers specialization in fashion. Students select one subject and begin with a 2 week (3 credit) course at CSM in London. Following the London course students have a few days to travel and make their way to Florence, continuing their studies at Polimoda for their second 2 week (3 credit) course. Courses are offered in Fashion Trend Forecasting and Styling or Fashion Design and Accessories.
Course Highlights: The Best in Fashion in Milan, Fashion Design, Product Design, Fashion Buying, Street Photography.
Dual City Housing
Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) was founded in 1980
and is the only design school in Italy accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education. NABA’s teaching method stresses cultural, theoretical, and practical aspects of design and seeks to put students in constant contact with companies and professionals.
SCOPE Housing All SAI SCOPE programs include housing in convenient, clean, and well equipped student shared apartments. Standard housing includes shared occupancy bedrooms, with the option to upgrade to a private bedroom. Typical residences house 2 – 8 students with a kitchen, bathroom and living areas. Furnishings, a washing machine, basic kitchen supplies, bed linens and towels are provided. All apartments are equipped with wireless internet, and provide a welcoming space for students to feel right at home. SAI on-site staff is available to respond to any maintenance needs that may arise.
All SAI Dual City programs include housing in convenient, clean, and well equipped spaces. In London and Florence, students are housed in student shared apartments and shared occupancy bedrooms. Typical residences house 2 – 8 students with a kitchen, bathroom and living areas. Furnishings, a washing machine, basic kitchen supplies, bed linens and towels are provided. SAI on-site staff is available to respond to any maintenance needs that may arise. In New York, students are placed in family homestays in Manhattan. Homestay families are thoroughly screened and are accustomed to welcoming visiting students into their homes. Homestays provide a single bedroom in the family home with basic furnishings. Daily breakfast is included. Please note that, as with most New Yorkers, students will be commuting to reach school.
