Dear Students, Parents and Colleagues, I still vividly recall the first time I landed in a foreign country as a young person. My senses felt overloaded; everything was utterly different. And my world changed. The impact of study abroad on a young person’s life is immeasurable. Years later, while living in Italy with my family for 8 years and working in the field of international education, it was part of my job to know the college study opportunities available in Europe to English speaking students. I also learned to determine the truly exceptional schools, ones that would be an outstanding experience for any student. Back then my work was with secondary students, high school students living abroad and choosing a college soon, some even staying in Italy. Once my family and I returned to the U.S. my interest in education abroad focused on options for college students and it was evident at that time that opportunities were limited and difficult to access. As a result, in 1995, I began to build SAI, with the goal of making it possible for all students to experience study abroad, especially at these exceptional schools I’d come to know. • In 2017 SAI celebrates 22 years of service. SAI’s handson approach has enabled us to match each student’s needs with the finest study abroad options in Europe. Our students understand that SAI is an organization known for providing programs and services of distinguishing quality and always with a personal touch. • As President, I am committed to maintaining SAI as a small, personalized organization with staff who care for students and respond to their academic interests, cultural curiosities and career goals. As an intentionally small organization we are able to help each individual student feel comfortable in a new cultural environment. And as a small organization we pay attention to the smallest details, allowing students the greatest access to learning and cultural exposure. • SAI is dedicated to introducing students to opportunities that encourage creative interaction across disciplines: communication, science, technology, art and design, economics and social sciences. In this way we seek to help students develop both the breadth and depth of creative thinking, cultural knowledge and professional skills, so when they return from their experience abroad they have a deeper understanding of themselves and the world. VARIOUS ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL LEVELS On top of our wealth of undergraduate program options, SAI also offers opportunities for high school, graduate and careerlevel students to refine their passions through international coursework. We offer High School, Gap Year, Career Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas, and one and two year Master’s Degrees in a range of disciplines, including design, fashion, culinary arts, and publishing. SAIPROGRAMS Career Preparedness INTERNSHIPS Internships are an excellent way to extend learning beyond the classroom, explore career options, and build professional networks. SAI internships, offered in many of our undergraduate programs, allow students to develop or improve language skills and gain real-world experience in professional environments. LEADERSHIP We foster students’ leadership potential by offering a unique SAI Global Leadership Certificate as a part of some semester programs. Students in this SAI certificate program broaden their awareness of global issues and deepen their knowledge of the local host community’s role in an increasingly interconnected world through exploration of research, engagement in community service and interaction with experts and leaders. COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING Each SAI location offers students a variety of service activities in their community. Through volunteering, students examine real-life problems and collaborate with local residents to address community needs. Volunteers are able to explore a field of their interest, and build skills that can transfer into their future careers. Often, students are transformed from the service experiences and discover a new sense of their own identities and their roles as global citizens.
Community Emphasis Community is at the root of everything we do. We provide a sense of community both for study abroad students, and the people and places that welcome them. SAI ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS SAI offers an active calendar of social events and excursions each term. These activities encourage social interaction between students while including elements designed to foster greater cross-cultural competency and a deeper understanding of the local community. Activities include hands-on culinary demonstrations, sporting events, musical concerts, theater performances, and museum visits, as well as all-day and weekend trips to nearby towns and attractions.

FRIENDLY & KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF SAI’s on-site staff offers an ongoing and reassuring support system for visiting students while allowing participants ample freedom to gain the maximum level of personal growth during their time abroad. Throughout the term, SAI on-site staff members hold daily office hours and are available to offer assistance with personal and academic challenges that are common when studying abroad. Program coordinators serve as advocates and advisors, offering support, guidance, and encouragement, and acting as liaisons between students and host school administrators. CULTURAL INTEGRATION & LANGUAGE IMMERSION Students seeking further cultural immersion can do so through SAI’s language and culture immersion options, in which students live with local host families, and/or study alongside local students. SAI programs also offer unique courses that integrate subjects with the local community’s context.

At SAI, we are committed to making study abroad achievable for everyone, and we provide financial assistance to help students realize their dream. SCHOLARSHIPS Since our beginning SAI has provided more than $2 million in financial assistance to students and we are pleased to offer scholarships to deserving students each academic year, awarded based on merit and need. Many SAI scholarships are paired with volunteering, interning, or professional experience, granting students more opportunities to become involved in the local or study abroad community. FINANCIAL AID PROCESSING Students currently receiving federal, state, or institutional financial aid are usually able to use some or all of their aid toward the cost of their SAI program. This includes, but is not limited to, scholarships, grants and personal loans. Students can work with SAI’s financial aid advisors to ensure that the proper paperwork is submitted to utilize their aid. SAI allows confirmed financial aid students to defer the payment of their program cost balance (i.e. the amount that aid will cover) until their financial aid is disbursed. DISCOUNTS SAI also offers various discounts, including for multiple terms, affiliated universities, multiple family members, gap year students, military service, and alumni students.

SAIPROGRAMS Leading Services SAI programs stand out for our services, ranging from our exceptional housing, to our 24-hour support on-site. HOUSING Learning to live in a new environment is an important part of the study abroad experience. SAI recognizes the importance of safe and comfortable living spaces that help students make new friends and build community. Over our 20+ years of operation, we have earned an excellent reputation for providing housing for students in beautiful apartments, as well as family homestays in some locations. Student Shared Apartments SAI student apartments are located in buildings and areas shared by local residents throughout the host cities. This grants students exposure to everyday life in that city: shopping at local markets, enjoying a morning coffee at the neighborhood cafe, and establishing relationships with other locals in the building or around the neighborhood. SAI apartments are within a 45 minute walk or commute to school, with most within 30 minutes. Each SAI apartment is unique in size, age, floor plan, and number of bedrooms. SAI offers shared and private bedrooms and all apartments are clean and well equipped with basic furnishings, a kitchen, living area and bathroom. In some SAI locations, students can add Premium Services for a supplementary fee, which includes weekly cleaning and laundry services, and bi-weekly linen change. Family Homestays Family homestays are available in some locations and are a terrific way to ensure that language skills and cultural knowledge grow. Homestay families are thoroughly screened and are accustomed to welcoming visiting students into their homes. Homestays provide a shared or single bedroom in the family home with basic furnishings. SAIPROGRAMS ON-SITE SUPPORT Each SAI city has on-site staff dedicated to ensuring a productive, safe, and unforgettable experience abroad. SAI on-site support includes airport pickup and a thorough orientation so that students experience a smooth transition into their host culture. SAI staff is available throughout the term to provide academic and personal support, and manages a rich calendar of events and activities so that students can easily get to know one another and their community. SAI students also have the benefit of receiving a host country cell phone for ease of communication. HEALTH & SAFETY Student safety, security, and health are of primary importance to SAI, and our students have peace of mind knowing that on-site staff is always available to help should they need it. In the event of serious safety or health issues, students can contact our 24-hour emergency phone number for immediate assistance. We manage a clear communication system should the need arise to contact all students or their emergency contacts at home. Our on-site staff can provide experience and translation with medical professionals, police, and the like, as well as a supportive environment. Additionally, all SAI students are covered by a student health insurance plan with coverage for English-speaking high quality medical care.
PASSPORT, VISA & TRAVEL Student visa application and requirements can sometimes be stressful for study abroad students. For this reason, SAI has a dedicated visa office to assist students throughout their passport application and visa process. Our visa office is available to answer any questions and concerns, and provides students with simple step-by-step guides to complete their applications. In some instances, our visa office is able to process student applications directly, to simplify the process further. To make travel simple, SAI has partnered with Waldorf Travel, a specialized travel agency providing the lowest available student-priced airline tickets. RE-ENTRY & ALUMNI Returning home from studying abroad can be both difficult and exhilarating. Students often return home with a new excitement for their future, and a deepened interest in international education, travel, and global citizenship. SAI re-entry services welcome students home with the same community that welcomed them in their host country. We have simple re-entry procedures, and opportunities for students to become SAI alumni for life.

SAIPROGRAMS SAI Activity & Excursion Highlights SAI offers an active calendar of social events and excursions in all Signature Services programs. SAI activities encourage social interaction between students while including elements designed to foster greater cross-cultural competency and a deeper understanding of the local community. Following are some examples of activities and excursions that are offered. ITALY: Weekend Excursion to Maremma & The Islands of Tuscany Students spend a weekend in the Maremma countryside and coast, both regions in Tuscany that are not widely known or easily accessible to travelers. Known for long horned steer, cowboys, natural parks, pre-Roman Etruscan ruins and exquisite coast, the area offers a plethora of natural beauty and cultural heritage sites. In addition to the beautiful landscapes, students are struck by how remote the area is, and enjoy having an opportunity to experience what life is like traveling like a local. The day on the Island of Giglio is always a favorite among students as a peaceful and picturesque place to relax on the Mediterranean white sand beaches. Other students decide to venture up to the summit of the island to visit the stunning castle. FRANCE: Weekend Excursion to Annecy Annecy is a special place located just off the beautiful green ‘Lac d’Annecy’, a turquoise-colored lake in Southeast France among the Alpine mountains. The historical center of town, which once held a prison during the Middle Ages, is walkable with many small bridges traversing several narrow canals. Students are often struck by the beauty and charm of the town and the scenery of the lake backdropped by snow-capped mountains. The weekend in Annecy offers students a beautiful escape to the mountains and is a chance to try regional Fondue. The most memorable experience is often the peaceful bike ride around the lake. ITALY: Sergio Mottura Vineyard Tour & Wine Tasting The beautiful scenery of the northern Lazio region, with its verdant hills and medieval villages, is reason enough to make the trip up to visit the Sergio Mottura vineyards and winery. However, getting a first-hand lesson on Italian wines from Mr. Mottura himself, seeing the production process up-close, and hearing about his more than 50 years in the business is the real treat. Students get a tour of the production site where Sergio explains the fermentation process and visit the beautiful vineyards to taste the grapes and learn how the volcanic soil of the area makes it optimal for producing wine. One of the highlights of the trip is passing through the local town market where Sergio treats the group to a tasting of Porchetta, a scrumptious local delicacy. After arriving at the winery, students head down to the cantina to see the intricate process of aging sparkling wines. Finally, lunch is ready, and just in time to accompany a tasting of all of Sergio’s wonderful wines.

SAIEXCURSIONS SPAIN: Spanish Food & Cooking Workshop Spanish and Catalan food is known worldwide to combine social and culinary elements to create experimental culinary excellence. The SAI Spanish food and cooking workshop welcomes students into this tradition, by cooking delicious local dishes that are unfamiliar to most students. The workshop discusses the central ingredients in Spanish cuisine and introduces various cooking methods for students to use at home. Together with the instructor, students cook and then enjoy a multiple-course meal, thus taking part in the social event of cooking and sharing meals together. Students often continue to cook these recipes when they return home, sharing the Spanish culinary tradition well beyond Spain! ITALY: Weekend in the Apennine Mountains On this unforgettable weekend trip, students get to experience Italian life outside of a large city. The group explores various parts of the National Park of the Apennines - including discovering the importance of cooking with local products that are in season, exploring caverns that make up a portion of the Apuan Alps, and experiencing local festivals such as the Fall Festival of Chestnuts and Truffles. Spending the weekend outdoors in the Garfagnana Valley offers students a very authentic and unique cultural experience that tourists don’t often get. Not only do students get to experience the beauty of the Italian mountains, but they also get to know an important aspect of Italian culture: local food products and cuisine. ENGLAND: Weekend trip to Bath, Stonehenge & Somerset This unforgettable weekend trip shows students a great deal of the iconic English countryside. In Bath, the group visits the Roman Baths and experiences the city through local museums, galleries, and walks. After that, students take in the truly ancient areas of the country by exploring the countryside, including Stonehenge and various villages. Throughout the weekend, students enjoy food from delicious restaurants, pubs and ancient inns and get a sense of life outside of the bustling city of London. Students often comment that the day in the English countryside is a truly special experience that they otherwise would not have had. However, the Roman Baths are always described as simply amazing as well!

Florence
FLORENCE The treasure that is the city of Florence has attracted visitors from every society, from Roman to modern times. Though Florence is an ancient city, the focal point today is its Renaissance art and architecture, which have contributed to it frequently being named one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, its streets present a stunning reflection of the birth and development of modern society, which shifted importance toward the individual and creativity. Today Florence is also a busy center for art and design, and a home to top fashion, architecture and culinary delights.
SAI Florence Florence is a very manageable city for study abroad students, who can regularly interact with visitors from around the world. SAI’s partner school in Florence is Florence University of the Arts (FUA), including Apicius International School of Hospitality (AISH). The SAI Florence office is centrally located and offers meeting and study space for students, as well as open office hours during which on-site staff provides support and guidance. Programinclusive activities in Florence include bookmaking, soccer games, and cooking classes, with weekend excursions to Cinque Terre and Lake Como and day trips to nearby sites.

FUAFLORENCE Host School Florence University of the Arts (FUA) is a young, vibrant institution offering liberal arts coursework that takes a contemporary approach to international education. With small classes taught by highly qualified international faculty, FUA courses aim to enhance the social, intercultural and professional experience of each student. In addition to coursework in arts and sciences, communication, and business, FUA offers unique opportunities for students to enroll in cutting-edge fashion, design, architecture, fine arts, culinary and wine studies, as well as a wide range of liberal arts and business courses. As an urban school, FUA is comprised of several buildings in Florence’s city center that have been refurbished to create spaces for studios, classrooms, and labs. SAI students have the option to supplement a regular semester of studies with the SAI Global Leadership Certificate (GLC), designed to enrich students’ experiences through exploration of research, engagement in community service and interaction with experts and leaders. Semester students have the option to add a 1 week / 3 credit Cultural Introduction to Italy traveling course starting in Rome, which takes place the week prior to regular program start. The Quarter program is 11 weeks duration in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring, and students select 3 to 5 elective courses from the offering for a total of 9 – 15 credits. Semester & Quarter Internship Opportunities Semester and Quarter students can apply for a part time 3 credit internship to be completed as part of their elective program. Students are placed in internships that complement their major or minor, and are supported by an internship supervisor. While Italian language proficiency is not required, it is helpful for expanding the placement options. SAI FUA students who wish to do so can complete a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, offered by FUA and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). SAI provides assistance with the transfer, to ensure a smooth transition to becoming FUA degree-seeking students.
Summer Programs Summer 3 weeks (3 – 6 credits) Students studying abroad in FUA’s 3 week summer programs select 1 or 2 courses for an intensive 3 weeks. SAI offers four Summer 3 week sessions at FUA, each with different start dates and course options: Summer I, Summer II, Summer III, and Summer IV. Summer 6 weeks (6 – 9 credits) Students in FUA’s 6 week summer programs select 2 or 3 courses from the elective offering for 6 – 9 credits. Courses are offered in various subjects, with opportunities to enroll in unique experiential learning courses and internships. SAI offers two Summer 6 week sessions at FUA, each with different start dates and course options: Summer A, and Summer B. Summer Semester 12 weeks (9 – 12 credits) Students in FUA’s 12 week summer semester program are able to complete a large number of credits in the summer. Students select 3 or 4 courses from a wide range of liberal arts options for a total of 9 – 12 credits. Students are also able to complete a 3 credit internship as part of their summer program. Summer Internship Opportunities Students enrolled in the 6 or 12 week summer programs can apply for a part time 3 credit internship to be completed as part of their program. Optional Add-On: Cultural Introduction to Italy (3 credits) The 1 week Cultural Introduction to Italy course can be added to any summer or semester program. The course is comprised of field study and travel research on location in destinations unique for their local cultures, economies, histories, and societies. Students participating in this course arrive in Rome the week prior to their regular program start and spend one week participating in lectures, visiting historic and contemporary sites, tasting local gastronomy, and experiencing the culture of Tuscany. Career Certificate Programs FUA Career Programs are subject-intensive sessions offering pre-determined coursework for a full immersion and professional experience in a particular field. Career programs are open to traditional undergraduate students as well as nontraditional students interested in a new career. Students can enroll in fall quarter (beginner-level) or spring quarter (intermediate-level) sessions, or complete a full academic year to receive a Certificate. AISHFLORENCE Host School Apicius International School of Hospitality (AISH) has been an internationally respected leader in culinary arts, baking, wine and hospitality for 20 years. It is the first academic entity in Italy to receive the World Association of Chef Societies (WACS) Recognition of Quality Culinary Education. In 2011 Apicius merged with Florence University of the Arts (FUA) providing a food, wine, hospitality and nutrition department while continuing to offer its expertise to international culinary and wine professionals and non-professionals. SAIITALY James Beard Foundation Program In this specialized 4 week program offered only in the fall, students create, plan, organize, and successfully realize a highprofile international event from a transcontinental, intercultural point of view. Coursework begins with lectures and event preparation at AISH in Florence and concludes with a week-long production and staging of an event cycle at the famed James Beard Foundation in New York City. Students are involved in all phases of event creation, with coursework covering event planning, art direction, food and wine management, food production, and wine services. This program is open to traditional undergraduate students as well as nontraditional students.

International Master Certificate in Baking & Pastry (Fall semester) The Master in International Baking and Pastry certificate program is offered to professional pastry chefs or hospitality graduates who wish to enhance specific skills in pastry arts in an international environment. The fall semester program is designed to celebrate the outstanding mastery of baking and pastry that has evolved in Italy over centuries. Students gain in-depth knowledge of worldwide desserts, wedding and celebration cakes, Italian gelato, artistic chocolate, and much more, while mastering product knowledge, interpretation and innovation, historical context, and dish balance. After successful completion of the program, students receive a Master Certificate in Italian Baking and Pastry.
Master Certificate in Italian Cuisine (one year) The one year Master in Italian Cuisine certificate program is offered to professional chefs or hospitality graduates who wish to enhance specific skills in culinary arts. The program is designed to celebrate the outstanding mastery of cuisine that has evolved in Italy over the centuries as well as provide students with a sound understanding of the gastronomic culture of Italy. Summer 11 weeks (6 - 12 credits) The 11 week summer program is offered as a combination of JCU’s two back-to-back 5 week summer programs, giving summer students the chance to enjoy an extended amount of time in Rome. Students enroll in 1 or 2 courses in each of the two 5 week sessions, for a total of 6 – 12 credits. Students in the 11 week summer program have the option of completing an internship. In addition to the unique coursework offered, students have the chance to participate in either of the two JCU Summer Institutes available. Summer Institutes Option Summer students can participate in either of the JCU Summer Institutes that occur alongside the Summer 5 week sessions. The two Institutes allow passionate students to engage more deeply in their field of study, and gain access to leaders in their field. JCUROME Graduate Programs Graduate Summer 5 weeks (3 - 6 credits) This unique graduate-level 5 week summer program offers students who hold a bachelor’s degree a deep-dive into creative writing and literary translation. The program, developed in collaboration with American University’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, brings together notable faculty with awardwinning writers in the heart of the Eternal City. Students enroll in one of the four workshops offered in poetry, fiction writing, literary translation, and literature for creative writers.
Master’s Degree Art History Master’s Degree (one year) The Master of Arts (MA) in Art History at JCU guides students toward professional mastery of the materials and methods of art history with emphasis on first-hand research in the museums, monuments, and archaeological sites of Rome. The degree can be completed in approximately fifteen months of full-time study, and awards a US-accredited MA degree. The program has a dual focus: the visual cultures of Rome and the Mediterranean across time, from antiquity to the present; and the acquisition of technical skills for primary research. It also stimulates critical perspectives on the history of Roman art worldwide.

NABAMILAN Host School Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) was founded in Milan in 1980 and is the only design school in Italy accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education. NABA instructors are worldrenowned artists, professionals, and designers working in Milan. NABAMILAN Master’s Degrees SAI offers one and two year Master’s Degree programs at NABA conducted in English and accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education. Creative Advertising Master’s Degree (one year) The Master’s in Creative Advertising is a joint initiative between NABA and Media Design School, New Zealand. The program begins with an introduction to the basics of creative advertising, from terminology to best practices. Students then develop core skills in copywriting, story telling and art direction, to create advertising campaigns across different types of media. Leading companies challenge the students with workshop briefs designed to give them a working knowledge of advertising context. This program includes a professional internship. Fashion and Textile Design Master’s Degree (two years) The Master of Arts in Fashion and Textile Design at NABA is for young designers who adopt and recognize the language of fashion and are able to visually embrace the essence of the contemporary world (music, visual arts, humanistic culture, technical/scientific culture, craft and industrial technologies, experimentation and tradition): fashion is their language. The program runs as a sort of permanent lab, where students play a central role. Experienced professionals and leading figures in the field of fashion and creativity mentor the students in building their own skills to achieve a personal and professional identity.
Interior Design Master’s Degree (two years) The two year Master of Arts in Interior Design at NABA helps students explore the boundaries and constraints of the world of interior design, acquiring and widening their knowledge, critical awareness, and original thinking. Students develop a highly experimental attitude to pursue innovation both in theory and practice, through a widely interdisciplinary design approach. During an intensive two-year exploration of interior spaces, students learn to envision the future: how we will live, how we will work, how we will communicate through interior spaces. Product Design Master’s Degree (two years) The two year Master of Art in Design, with specialization in Product Design, at NABA prepares future designers and provides them with a contemporary approach to design, which originated from the Italian design culture. Led by renowned design professionals, the degree is designed around the investigation and design of the new relationship between human beings, the environment, and objects. Hello my name is Elena from the University of Missouri and I studied with SAI at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. I chose Milan because it is a fashion capital of the world and, as a fashion student, what’s better than learning fashion from the stylish Italians themselves. I can honestly say that my 5 months in Italy were one of the happiest and best times of my life. Not only did it give me a whole new understanding of the fashion world, but I also made lifelong friends and memories along the way. SASORRENTO Host School Sant’Anna Institute (SA) is housed in an historic former convent and school, located in the old center of Sorrento, just steps from the sea of the Amalfi coast. Each classroom offers stunning views of the Gulf of Naples to one side, and olive groves to the other. The school’s grounds include lovely gardens and fruit trees and it is a short walk to the center of town. At SA, visiting semester and summer students can enroll in courses focused on language, art, archaeology, literature, social studies, business, natural sciences and liberal arts, while incorporating language development and cultural immersion inside and outside the classroom. SISSIENA Host School Siena Italian Studies (SIS) is a study abroad program based at the International Center for Intercultural Exchange. SIS programs are a “gentle full-immersion” in Italian life for highly motivated beginner, intermediate and advanced Italian language students. SIS offers some of the most innovative programs in Italy that work to fully integrate the education of language, culture and service learning, in and out of the classroom. The overall objective of full-immersion at SIS is for each student to develop a reflective intercultural competence, allowing him or her to function as a global citizen, capable of facing and interacting with different cultures throughout life. Semester & Academic Year Programs Semester Language/Elective (15 - 18 credits) Semester students can go from absolute beginner Italian speakers to advanced, all while taking language and subject coursework. During the first weeks of semester courses, lessons are conducted in a mix of English and Italian and students are given English language readings and supporting materials to ensure that the content is not compromised. As students’ linguistic competencies improve, more and more Italian is used and by the end, not only are lessons held in Italian, but also final papers are written in Italian. The program is a combination of 9 credits of language courses and 6 – 9 credits of electives. Academic Year Language/Elective (30 - 36 credits) Students enrolled in the Academic Year program complete both the Fall and Spring semesters. Students complete 15 - 18 credits each semester for a total of 30 - 36 credits. By the end of the program, most students achieve a strong Italian language working proficiency.

SYRACUSESICILY Host School Syracuse Academy provides specialized study abroad programs focused on Mediterranean culture, landscape and history, in a beautiful seaside setting. The school brings together a small community of students interested in a culturally immersive summer academic experience that uses the surrounding region as its classroom. SAISPAIN Spring Semester Science & Health (12 – 15 credits) UPF’s spring semester programs in Global Health and STEM fields are designed for students who are academically focused on the sciences. Visiting students select their concentration (STEM or Global Health) and enroll in 4 or 5 courses, earning 12 to 15 US credits. This program offers academic rigor and a high degree of cultural immersion. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Concentration: This program is tailored to meet the needs of students majoring in the STEM fields, permitting them to take courses at the prestigious UPF Polytechnic School and to pursue independent research projects in technology under the mentorship of UPF science faculty. While the STEM concentration allows students to enroll in STEM courses, students may also enroll in any history and culture courses available in the semester through the Hispanic and European Studies Program (HESP). Global Health Concentration: This program is designed for students who are majoring in the health sciences. All visiting Global Health Concentration students enroll in two mandatory core courses: “Frontiers in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine” and “Neurosciences for Humanities.” Students then choose two or three elective courses from the HESP schedule of classes. They may also choose to take “Spanish for Medical Professions” as one of their electives. Science & Health Applied Experience Program Option Students enrolled in the spring STEM or Global Health Concentrations can choose to add the Applied Experience Program option, adding time for research and experiential learning. Each degree program follows block coursework designed around collaborative problem-solving, hands-on experience and workforce preparedness. Elisava Master’s Degrees are awarded by Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering. Advanced Design and Digital Architecture Master’s Degree (one year) Since the decline of the Modernist Movement, architecture theory has shown a strong interest in positivist project methodologies. The study of complexity and dynamic systems has restored interest in the study of networks, “bottom-up” methods, adaptive systems, genetics and the automatic creation of form as the pillars of a new generation of design techniques. The relentless emergence of digital innovations in the world of design has made it possible to adopt new patterns of thought and planning. I’m Solomon, but you can call me Sollie. I’m a 3rd year student from the Rochester Institute of Technology. While in high school, I participated in an exchange program to Burgos, Spain and in the fall of 2016 returned to Spain for a semester abroad at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Studying abroad helped shape the way I think. In high school I hated Spanish. I had signed up for the exchange program because I love to see and learn about new places. Once in Spain, I fell in love with speaking Spanish and learned what it is like to be a young adult in Spain.

Students enroll in three mandatory history of gastronomy, culinary arts and beverage courses and then select two electives from a range of courses offered in Spanish language, culinary arts, tourism, and business for a total of 15 credits.

SAISPAIN Summer Programs Summer 4 weeks (5 credits) CETT’s summer programs allow students to spend an intensive four weeks immersed in a particular area of study. CETT summer programs are offered in Marketing of Services, Cultural and Urban Trends in a Global Environment, and Events Management. PCAPARIS Host School Paris College of Art (PCA) is a premier art and design school firmly rooted in the rich artistic landscape of Paris. For over 30 years it has provided students the opportunity to explore and participate in the Parisian art scene while developing their portfolio under the guidance of respected industry professionals and academics. Can’t settle on the perfect location to study abroad in the summer? Studying in more than one place may be your answer. Studying abroad in two distinct cities allows students to get to know and become comfortable in two places, while also developing more varied cross-cultural understanding and experiencing their discipline in varying contexts. Students studying in SAI multi-city programs experience different languages, cuisines, architecture, histories, and cultures, all in one program. SAI students in these programs are supported by on-site staff in each location, who help them make a seamless transition between their locations. Students are welcomed in each city, and are offered unique activities that help them to get to know their host city, and build a strong community.
SAI Multi-City Students in multi-city programs gain great independence as they learn to navigate the London Tube one week, and walk the streets of Milan’s fashion district the next. Multi-city students participate in all SAI activities in both locations, and have access to all school facilities. Additionally, SAI offers students the option of getting involved in various volunteer opportunities in each host city, including environmental cleanup, language tutoring, refugee assistance, and much more.

SAI Scope SAI Summer Combination Programs & Experiences (SCOPE) offer a unique opportunity to combine two distinct SAI summer programs in two different cities for a reduced cost. SAI offers different combinations each year, with program length ranging from 5 to 8 weeks. Please see our website for the most up-todate information on SCOPE offerings.
Central Saint Martins (CSM) Dual City Design CSM Dual City programs offer a unique design experience, combining studies at two renowned design schools. Programs are 4 weeks in length, and students complete two 2-week courses in their chosen design and fashion study. The following two program options are available: Dual City New York & London (6 credits) The New York and London Dual City program offers specialization in Fashion Design, Process and Practice. Students select one subject and begin with a 2 week (3 credit) course at Parsons in New York. Following the New York course students have a few days to travel and make their way to London, and then continue their studies at CSM for their second 2 week (3 credit) course. Dual City London & Florence (6 credits) The London and Florence Dual City program offers specialization in fashion. Students select one subject and begin with a 2 week (3 credit) course at CSM. Following the London course students have a few days to travel and make their way to Florence, continuing their studies at Polimoda for their second 2 week (3 credit) course. Courses are offered in Fashion Trend Forecasting and Styling or Fashion Design and Accessories.
