Course breaks We recognise that if you are studying on a longer course (24 weeks or more) it is often better to include a short break in your studies. All our Centres have breaks over the Christmas period, and in Norwich there are also three one-week breaks during the year. For students at our other Centres, we will include a two-week holiday break in your booking for courses of 24–35 weeks, or a four-week holiday break for courses of 36+ weeks. (Christmas breaks and Norwich’s three one-week breaks automatically count towards your holiday entitlement.) You can let us know if you do not want to include this or if you want to change the dates of your break. You can also do this in the Centre after arrival provided you give us at least four weeks’ notice. Visas for long-term study Students on courses of six to 11 months would normally apply for an Extended Student Visitor Visa. If applying for a General Student Visa (Tier 4), in order to comply with Home Office immigration regulations we offer students a SELT English exam towards the end of your course at no additional cost.
• Start dates every two weeks • 20 hours* per week • Suitable for everyone from age 17
(16 in London, Manchester and Norwich)
• Minimum English level: Elementary (no evidence
required); Manchester is our only Centre that can accept beginners; absolute beginners must take one-to-one lessons before joining a group, at additional cost
• Maximum class size: 16 (average 10) • Offered at our Centres in London, Manchester, Norwich and Cheltenham
General English Intensive
• Course length in multiples of two weeks from 2 to 22 weeks
• Start dates every week in the summer period (not Norwich)
General English Year Abroad
• Course length in multiples of two weeks from 24 to 48 weeks
• For students on a Tier 4 visa, a Secure English language test (SELT) towards the end of the course is included in the course fee
*An hour in class may include an allowance for class changeover.
Activities and excursions To help you get the most from your time with us you can also take part in our regular range of activities and excursions in the Centre. Some of these are free; some have a charge. We want you to enjoy your time in the UK and make full use of every opportunity to socialise with fellow students from a variety of different countries. This is the ideal way to build on your formal studies by using the language in real-life situations. 11

www.youtube.com/intotv
Providing top quality teacher training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for INTO and the world, NILE, the Norwich Institute for Language Education, has been part of the INTO group from the very beginning, demonstrating INTO’s commitment to academic quality and CPD from the outset.
Teacher Training and Professional Development
About us
Partnership with INTO and partners worldwide
Online teacher training
NILE offers courses for teachers and trainers worldwide and is one of the world’s largest providers of training and development for ELT. At peak, NILE runs some 30 parallel courses for over 400 teachers and trainers from around 40 countries – everything from short specialist courses to Cambridge CELTA and Delta and a modular MA specially designed for ELT teachers and trainers.
NILE is INTO’s professional development arm and a centre of professional expertise for INTO in a number of key areas, including curriculum and materials development, testing, evaluation and assessment, CLIL and ELT management.
NILE now has a new division, ‘NILE Online’, which is responsible for the design and delivery of a three-tier, 33-module online training and development programme for teachers ranging from low levels of language, qualification and experience to those needing specialist training at MA level. This will be a unique, state-of-theart TT and TD programme, tutor-led and with a range of innovative, interactive functions, which is already attracting education ministries worldwide.
NILE’s state-of-the-art teaching building, Delta House, offers a superb learning environment, spacious classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a 22-position computer suite, a full Wi-Fi environment and a roof terrace linking to our original city centre venue, the historic listed building, Hales Court House. A unique track record NILE is unique in the UK as a specialist teacher training and teacher development institute for English language education. NILE has trained over 20,000 teachers from 60 countries at its centres in Norwich. NILE is the only UK institute to have been validated by three separate universities to run programmes at PG Certificate, PG Diploma and Master’s level for professionals involved in language education. NILE also runs the UK’s largest range of short courses for teachers and trainers, many of which are eligible for EU funding support. Each year we run around a hundred such courses for more than a thousand teachers.
NILE has built successful links and partnerships both within and outside the UK. We have long-term agreements with the British Council, with national and regional education ministries and with prestigious teacher education institutions worldwide. Not just courses, but conferences, consultancies and project management NILE is regularly involved in language education consultancies and in the management of major projects around the world. We have been the official advisers to the central cantons of Switzerland on primary ELT; we have managed long-term curriculum development and materials development projects in Bahrain, Tunisia and Uzbekistan; we have designed tests for major primary teacher training projects in Italy and Germany, evaluating the performance of over 8,000 intending primary teachers of English; we have designed, delivered and managed training for over 500 teachers a year sent by the Italian Ministry of Education and a similar number from Spain.
If you are involved in language education and have a professional development need, NILE is the institute to come to. • free access to internet and email facilities, meaning you are always able to keep in touch with friends and family

Holiday breaks We recognise that if you are studying on a longer course (24 weeks or more) it is often better to build a short break into your studies. In fact, all our Centres have breaks over the Christmas period, and in Norwich there are also three one-week breaks during the year. To arrange an additional break on courses in the UK, please inform us of your requested dates when making your booking. Any change to the planned break must be requested in the Centre, at least four weeks in advance of the break.
Student life Your experience as a student is not just about studying. It’s your chance to explore new opportunities, develop skills and make friends. All centres offer regular social and excursion programmes, which are organised to help you have fun, make new friends, practise your English and explore the city and country you are living in. As an international student at one of INTO’s campus Centres, you will also receive full university student status, with access to campus facilities, such as:
• gym • library • clubs and societies • Students’ Union • bars, restaurants and cafés. To find out more about student life and the student support at the Centre of your choice, visit: www.intohigher.com/english

On-campus living INTO residence In some centres INTO has its own high quality, purposebuilt student accommodation, which is ideal for those looking for a more independent lifestyle, while wanting to meet other students.
• Choice of single, en suite rooms with shared kitchens and lounges.
• Choice of shared rooms at our INTO USA Centres. • Self catering (UK) or meal-plan options (USA). • On-site cafés. • Wi-Fi throughout the building. • Vibrant social areas. • 24-hour security. • Great locations, mostly on-site.
www.youtube.com/intotv
Halls of residence Some centres also offer the option of university accommodation, offering students the opportunity to mix with both international and home students. In the UK single rooms are most common, but in the USA sharing a room is a distinctive feature of staying in a hall of residence on campus. We actively encourage home and international students to share rooms together as it helps build friendships and contacts in the wider university community, as well as being an excellent way to improve your English language skills. Please note that residential accommodation is on request and subject to availability. In the UK it is generally suitable for longer stays from the main academic start dates.
Accommodation
In the UK, Homestay is the most popular accommodation choice, offering students the opportunity to live with a carefully selected British Homestay host in their home.
Shared apartments, either on- or off-campus, are available at some USA centres. In the UK, we also offer a range of hotel and guesthouse accommodation on request.
