REOCCURRENCE- the jacket project

Page 1

BRIEF The aim of the project was focused on creating a macro trend relating to the social or ongoing events. Associating it with the trends of AW 20/21, with respect to the macro trend, a micro trend had to be brainstormed and a final catalogue had to be designed. My macro trend is culinary aesthetics and the micro trend is reoccurance, relating with the on going trends in the culianry arts field of bringing back the lost value of the cultural ways of cutlery and methods of cooking, with the aspect of bringing back the fashion trends of the 70;s and the 90’s.

Brain storming on the macrotrend to arrive at the micro trend.

The trends from the 70’s and 90’s included flared hems, floral prints and exaggerated sleeves.

culinary aesthetics

Culinary aesthetics as an industry is reviving the traditional culture with respect to the presentation ideas or the cooking methods. Today food is not limited to hunger but spiritual hunger which is fulfiled by brushing the senses of smell and vision.

deconstruction Reverse engeneiering performed on a jacket to understand the parts and joineries of the garment. The parts unraveled, gave a reflection on the process of stiching of the perticular jacket. Overlapping seams, gave an idea of the stiching order of certain parts, many other types of seams came to my notice for certain joineries.

process

After the pattern was made and muslin parts were cut, I started off with the shell. The shell included a shawl collar, pleats and an inseam pockets. A yolk on the shoulder and seam lines. The back of the shell has a continuing yolk and fish darts.

The sleeves of the jacket are flared and have a broad hem border with different fabric. With the final jacket the only changes that happened were the switch of the placement of pleats with the inseam pocket.
