COLOR

STUFF

I found I could say things with color and shape that I couldn’t say any other way - things I had no words for. - Georgia O’ Keeffe

RED FISH, BLUE FISH? How primed are you?

Listed on the right are a series of words. As quickly as you can, say the color of each word- NOT the work itself. Confused? Don’t be. It’s just your brain working against you. Many scientists believe that one reason people have difficulty with this activity is because your brain is “primed,” or prepared, to picture things the same color as the written word. So if the actual word “red” is colored green, your brain gets confused! In psychology “primed” occurs when an earlier stimulus influences response to a later stimulus. For example, when a person reads a list of words including the word “table,” and is later asked to complete a word starting with “tab,” the probability that subject answers “table” is higher than for non-primed people. And you thought this was just some hokey activity. Don’t you feel smarter now?

RED BLUE BLACK YELLOW GREEN ORANGE PURPLE BROWN

Did you know ? When limited to two colors for a print job, get creative and choose two inks that can blend together to produce a third color. The paper combination can make a dramatic difference.

MIX AND MATCH Think you know your color combinations? Well, try your hand at the quandary on the right side When two colors are mixed together, they sometimes produce a third. With that in mind, match the third. With that in mind, match the third colors below with the original two colors that produce them.

Color blindness, a color vision deficiency, is the inability to percieve differences between some of the colors that others can distinguish. It is most often of generic nature, but may also occur because of eye, nerve or brain damage, or exposure to certain cemicals. There are two major types of color blindness, with the most common being red-green, and the other being blue-yellow. Within these two, are a variety of sub-types with fancy titles... but really, don’t you just want to get to the test and make sure you don’t have it? We thought so.

Think you are color blind? Take these test to find out!
