Hey Key Clubbers! May is in the past now and it’s shocking to believe that we are now entering the last month of the school year. May was an extremely productive month with so many service projects and Yuda Bands Fundraiser and our Bake Sale. A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered or supported one of our fundraisers. In May, we also launched our Key Club crewneck for this service year! Thank you to everyone who ordered one and if you haven’t paid yet, be sure to do that ASAP. The crewnecks will be coming very soon :) For June, the New Projects Committee has prepared some great event to attend and are hard at work at finding lots of events for the summer too! For the month of June, we will be having a PokeGreen Fundraiser on June 14th and our annual Dave and Buster's Fundraiser on the 19th! Both fundraisers will go towards the Governor’s Project, the New York Chapter of Special Olympics. We are holding our Induction on

VICE PRESIDENT DAVID SHI
Hey Key Clubbers! It's been quite a hectic month between finishing final projects and having to study for regents, but schools basically out otherwise! We all made it, so woohoo! To celebrate and relax before our regents, we're holding a Dave and Buster's fundraiser on the 19th this Wednesday! All of the proceeds will go to the Special Olympics, where the funds will go to help support the disabled participate and compete in games as well! Dave and Busters will have half-priced games on Wednesday, so double the fun for the same price! Pull up to meet new people,Â
Our past fundraisers have also been super successful thanks to everyone's help! If you didn't know, we sold out all 200 Yuda Bands thanks to all of our hard-working volunteers and generous people who bought a band or donated! Our bake sale also went amazingly, selling out before the school day even ended! Other updates for the month include the anonymous feedback form, where you can submit any suggestions and concerns anonymously where the cab will then review and address! You can find this soon on our website, stuykc.org. I've also gotten to meet more awesome people in Key Club and Kiwanis alike, so it's been pretty sunny recently! Anyway, enjoy your summer yall! Yours in service, David Shi VP of Stuyvesant Key Club IKEYA Board 2019-2020

Japan Day; a festive, fun event held in Central Park! Unlike last year's sunny and bright Japan Day, it was completely pouring this time around, so the turnout of people that showed up and participated in the event was less than expected. However, we still had high spirits! The Yo-Yo Tsuri booth (fishing for water balloons in a pool of water) was very popular among the young children, as were the photo booths (those long lines of kids ready to take pictures with Hello Kitty)! Volunteers were tasked with crowd control, in order to make the groups of participants waiting in lines less hectic, and with helping in the stands themselves, whether it was handing out free snacks or tea and taking instax pictures. Some stands had to close early because of the weather, but those that remained until the end were very successful. Overall, we turned a gloomy looking day into a fun and productive one. A steaming plate of okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes) really improves your mood! I really appreciate the dedication all of our volunteers had, sticking it out until the end of the event even through the freezing cold (especially those holding heavy signs in the rain, ahem, and those who had to walk around handing out flyers). Not only did we power through the event smoothly we also attracted passersby with our signs and free caramel apple Hi-Chew and Hello Panda snacks! As always, a big shoutout to those who organized and funded the event, along with giving the volunteers free shirts, snacks/tea (some might have taken more than a few, in the end) and bentos!

"Although the weather was horrible (from the beating sun to the pouring rain), it was a great opportunity to met new Key Clubbers, try new things, eat lots of food, and most importantly, give back to the community." ~Constance Chen

by David Shi When I arrived at the garden, I saw people who I would eventually know as Ashley, Sabrina, Fanny, and Karen! We ended up helping to pull weeds out in the garden and organizing tree branches that other garden members cut down. We met one of the garden's community leaders named Maria, who welcomed us. and told us about a parade that was happening nearby, and how it would soon come to the garden. At this point, the volunteers were all a little confused. We knew that we were supposed to help at a parade, but only in the garden? That's when we figured out the location given to us was wrong! When the parade arrived at the garden, we spoke to the organizer and she was grateful that we still showed up to help nonetheless, despite being late. We met Bronx Science and watched a dance that highlighted the Earth and the destructive waste being left on it. Afterward, we helped carry beautiful hand-drawn banners that showcased various parks and other gardens with the parade. Despite going to the wrong location, I met new and awesome people, which includes Fanny, Karen, and Maria. The community at the garden was amazing, and we met a cat named Jimmy who we went back to visit after the parade.

My Key Club journey had began with my closest friends before I became a freshman in Stuyvesant High School in my first event, Color Run 2K18. For my first ever experience, it had detrimentally damaged my experience of the prominent Key Club, and I was determined to never attend another event. However, as freshman year passed along and I only heard favorable aspects of Key Club from my committed friends, I gave Key Club a second chance. Rejoining Key Club may have been the best choice I made since the start of the school year. When I had just become active in Stuyvesant's Key Club in the beginnin gof May, I didn't think much of it. However, even as a late bloomer of Key Club, everyone welcomed me with open arms, and I surely can saythat the memories and friends I mad thus far proves to show how close of a family we are. Not only does the club comprise of rearding events, but the friendships made and built with some of the most caring and generous people make it one of the most eventful experiences ever. Key Club is truly the best club and I reccommend it for everyone.
