Letter from the President Reach out to Jenna Foo: jfoo@stuy.edu Hi guys! Woww how is it already November? Thank you guys for all your hard work in the past few months and I look forward to seeing you guys at events in the future! We’re currently in the process of collecting dues, so remember to pay (by either contacting one of the cab members or coming to our next meeting) if you want to be recognized as an official member! You’ll most likely also get a free shirt �� We also need a design for the shirt, so we’ll be announcing a contest for that really soon �� Thank you guys for being amazing dedicated Key Clubbers, I love you all!
Letter from the Vice Prez Reach out to Penny Wang: pwang00@stuy.edu Hello guys! I'm so glad that so many new members are going to events and participating in Key Club. I plan on renewing our committees so that all members have a chance to be part of our 6 committees. However, I also want to reform our committees so that our members can play a bigger role in each committee, meaning less members altogether. However, that also means opening up some committee tasks to more members, not only in committees because certain jobs involve our whole club. I hope that you guys are as excited for the committees as I am, and I can't wait for the good things to come!!

Letter from the Secretary Reach out to Jason Xiong: jxiong10@stuy.edu Hey guys, The weather is definitely getting chillier so don’t forget to wear some extra layers. I hope you all have fun at the various Halloween events we had during the month of October. Don’t forget to pull up to different Thanksgiving and other autumn events we are having this month and prepare yourself for December for a month of holiday spirit and of course, holidaythemed events! Service hours have been updated up to BT5K, which was on November 11th. Many of you have been asking about Parent-Teacher Conferences and yes, those hours are finally updated :) However, I knew there were lots of confusion and issues with the checking in and out so if you did not receive hours but did volunteer at PTC, please let me know. Committee signups will be released after the meeting on November 16th and I highly suggest you apply for one. Being a part of a committee is a great way for you to gain more experiences, develop new skills, and make new friends! I wish the best of luck to all applicants and I hope to see at an event soon!

Reach out to Freya Zhu: fzhu10@stuy.edu Hey everybody! I'm so happy to see so many new key clubbers at events! To those of you who have not yet gone to an event, don't be scared to go! Dont be intimidated by those with a lot of hours or feel like everyone has already formed a group as key club is and will always be one big family. Coming up next month will be our Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse fundraiser. I hope many of you guys will come and support our club. As always profits will go to be TBD charity. I'm also trying to establish better connections with Kiwanis Builders Club and we were planning ti do something for Key Club week. Though the week is over, i am still going to push for our plan to work so stay tuned. Thats about it for now, have a nice day everyone!

It made me really happy seeing the massive amount of key clubbers at our first meeting. I could barely get into the room and wiggle my way to the front because it was that crowded. Thank you for taking the time out of your days to attend the meeting. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you guys at future meetings too, and expect the room to be just as crowded! If you're a new member, you can peep the website to learn more about Stuyvesant Key Club. Also, I'm excited to count up the coins collected from the UNICEF boxes at our next meeting. Hi everyone! I know it has been a rough first three months of school, but I hope you are all adjusted and prepared by now to tackle the rest of the school year! This issue of the even October issue is, admittedly, a bit behind schedule and I really apologize for that! I hope you all enjoy the issue nonetheless! Huge thanks to all of our volunteers that signed up to be writers for events. You guys are amazing!
Hey All, It's already November! (This issue came out very late :(( , sorry about that). I encourage all of you to try out for a committee! The best committee, the locksmith committee, is sadly not accepting any new members this semester---maybe next semester :0 As always, thanks to all of you that send in pictures and articles! It's nice to see so many new names sending emails volunteering to write an article. Happy Thanksgiving!

by Reshmi Anwar I arrived at the Queens Botanical Garden Harvest Festival bundled in a thick coat, a long scarf, and two pairs of socks for a good measure. Contrary to the cold weather, I was offered a warm welcome, along with tea and hot chocolate. The staff of QBG assigned all volunteers to certain tasks: aiding in face painting, maintaining bouncy houses, and selling cotton candy. My friends and I decided to help oversee the pumpkin patch. We removed broken or rotten pumpkins, and wheeled them to the compost center. The job proved to be physically strenuous but working in a gregarious company made it surprisingly enjoyable. As families started to trickle in, we spent a few hours admitting visitors into the patch, collecting the blue tickets needed to buy a pumpkin, and parking strollers in the assigned area. During our lunch break, my friends and I headed back to the admissions center where we ate sandwiches and gulped down hot tea to keep warm. We also wondered around the numerous booths and food venders set up in the area (some items were marked fifty percent off only for volunteers!). Upon our return to the pumpkin patch, we got engaged in taking pictures of families and running after toddlers (and, in the process, getting tripped by the little children feet). At the end of the day, I found that spending time with friends, fellow volunteers, and interacting with visiting families proved a truly rewarding and fun experience. I would definitely volunteer at QBG Harvest Festival next year. 17

by Vincent Huang After quite a long break from Key Club, my return to the club was marked by volunteering at Monster Mash, which made me feel right back at home. Arriving at the third floor location in a Brooklyn building- beyond red doors- I was greeted by the sight of many new volunteers, which was amazing to see. Although the actual event was not to start until hours later, we were assigned the task of helping to set up and man specific stations during the event. Several festivities were to take place during the event from distributing hot freshly-made popcorn and drinks to decorating cookies and even making slime. Volunteers first started by putting up posters around the premises and decorating the gates surrounding the building with cobwebs, skulls, and caution tape. This gave the building a spooky Halloween feel, a perfect atmosphere for the event. Soon enough, adults began to line the exterior with their children in costumes. In order to “spook� the kids and get them ready for what was in store, the event coordinator assigned several of us to walk up and down the line in costumes. I wore a werewolf mask with creepy long fingers, while two other volunteers went as a vampire and a mummy. Our getups were quite hilarious but the kids were extremely frightened -- I even made a few kids cry. After this experience, we transitioned over to the haunted house on the second floor, and continued to scare the wits out of kids for several hours. Volunteering events are always a fun way to take part in the community and make a difference in the lives of others and this event was no different. 18
MICROSOFT HALLOWEEN EXPO by Jason Xiong
Halloween season may be all about dressing up and eating candies for some people, but for me, it’s all about going to different Halloween-themed events! My favorite one from last year happened to be this event, which was the first time I took on the role of project captain in Key Club. Having volunteered at many Microsoft events, I knew that this event will not disappoint. After getting to the Microsoft office building and checking in, we split up into two groups. One group stayed downstairs to sort out the guest IDs and assist with checking in while the other group went upstairs to help set up the expo. Throughout the day, we took turns staying downstairs to check in guest and also staying upstairs to help with the distribution of food and beverages. THE PIZZAS AND BROWNIES WERE REALLY GOOD :) We had so much that guests started to take whole pies but there was still a lot left so we donated it to a shelter. We also got to judge a costume contest and the winner was a tiny boy in a police officer costume. This event definitely improved since last year and cannot wait to volunteer next Halloween.

By Keyi Guo The Bike MS event took place at Pier 92/94 on a chilly Sunday. It was held by the National MS Society to raise awareness and support for multiple sclerosis, a disease where the protective covering of nerves are damaged. Volunteers took on jobs like General Event Support and Food & Beverage to help support the cause. After going through the volunteer check-in, we received a bright orange T-shirt. I signed up for General Event Support and thus was in charge of cheering on the incoming bikers. We were given orange bells and pompoms to enthusiastically cheer. The NYU cheer team was also present, helping us cheer on the bikers in the blistering cold. A host helped announce the different teams that helped fundraise and contribute to the MS cause. For the first few hours, we helped out with setting up the event. Volunteers working on the Food & Beverage helped with organizing and providing for the bikers. We were given a lunch break at noon and were served burgers. The event ended late into the evening, but I saw the passion of many bikers towards the cause of curing MS.

Member of the Month
Tiffany Yum Hi, I’m Tiffany Yum and I’m currently a sophomore. I started key club freshman year, I actually signed up during camp stuy but I wasn’t super committed. However, during the few events I went to, I built up connections with a few kids in my grade that I talked to on a regular basis. Volunteering is actually really nice. Just knowing that you helped people, even if it’s very trivial, it feels nice. I don’t have a favorite but all of them were pretty nice. 24
