IDENTITY

Identity Theft! Ask yourself this question, “What type of feelings have I been giving permission to latch onto me?” Now…Has it been Negative or Positive feelings? Some might say: “It’s been positively negative man!” That unfortunately might be the norm when someone is faced with this crucial question. The feelings that we hold on to, they are the ones who model us into who we are. Because sometimes we might be the same model as a family member, just a different make. What if we’ve been only keeping ALL the Negative feelings and bottling them up, giving them water, manure and enough sunlight to become its own botanical monster garden? Here we stroll around, ending ourselves slowly, including those around us. Have you ever done target practice on someone, off-loading on them from within, because of pain you have been carrying around, then reloading and continuing on someone else? Many times that someone else is you! Hating yourself isn’t uncommon…is it? Time to end things…YES…we must end the lies! Because…You are good enough, good looking enough, clever enough, strong enough to do this and bright enough to believe it, because it’s true!!! You have been created AWESOMELY AMAZING!!! Let us start getting rid of lies spoken into our lives by people who are broken themselves, this includes, parents, teachers, pastors, friends or family. Words coming from anybody else other than God is not always the truth, doesn’t matter who they “think” they are! MY FATHER’S WAR The totally unique new South African film, My Father’s War, will be released nationwide on 5 August 2016. This bilingual (Afrikaans/English) drama focuses on the broken relationship between a father and his rebellious teenage son and will reach a broad audience and especially those touched by the war: soldiers, wives, husbands, children and parents. It will bring back memories, exorcise ghosts and help to bring more understanding and emotional healing to viewers – even those who had absolutely nothing to do with the war. Any parent and child will be able to relate to it on a personal level. The film combines the theme of a broken relationship with the Border War through instrumental dream sequences and overcomes the gap between a father and his son even though the war occurred almost thirty years ago. The film is set in 2003 and 19-year-old Dap Smit (Edwin van der Walt) is constantly fighting with his father, Dawid (Stian Bam), a veteran of the Border War. The men don’t see eye to eye on anything, and there seems to be no hope for reconciliation between them. Dawid’s wife, Carina (Erica Wessels) is caught in the middle of their epic battle. Then Dap has a series of dreams in which he is a combat soldier in the Border War in the 1980s. There he meets his father at the same age, and those dreams turn young Dap’s perception – and life – completely upside down. There’s no going back. But what is the way forward? Edwin van der Walt says that the making of this film was a very personal experience for him and that he learnt a lot about love, relationships and the truth. “This film forms part of a specific season in my life and to play with my mentor, Stian Bam, was and will always be one of the highlights in my career. It was a challenging process, but really enriched all of us. I hope and trust that this film will be a step in the right direction for people to heal personal relationships. I hope that everyone learns more about the Border War and about the effect that it had on our Grandfathers, Brothers and Fathers”.

legends of R&B vol II Big Concerts has confirmed a second tour under the brand new series The Legends of R&B coming to Johannesburg in September and October 2016 featuring The Stylistics with special guest Lenny Williams. Johannesburg: 30th September 2016 and 1st October 2016 at Teatro Montecasino The Stylistics were formed in Philadelphia, PA in 1966 from two groups, “The Percussions” and “The Monarchs.” When members from each group were drafted or went on to further their education, the remaining members under the guidance of their English teacher, Beverly Hamilton, joined forces and changed their name to “The Stylistics.” Their first song, “You’re a Big Girl Now,” became a number one hit in Philadelphia and a few other cities. After the success of, “You’re a Big Girl Now,” the band wanted to follow up with an album release. Veteran hit producer, Tom Bell, was contracted and was hired to produce the group’s first album. The album was titled, “The Stylistics,” and from that album came the hits, “Stop, Look, Listen to your Heart,” “You are Everything” and “Betcha By Golly Wow.” The hits continued with the release of their second album, “Round Two” and the Stylistics forever became known as the Philly group with the sweet love songs.

****** lions get mauled by jaguares Johan Ackerman, arguably one of the most successful coaches in the Super 18 this year, did he get it wrong or didn’t he? The Lions lost to the Jaguares as Ackerman made 15 changes as the playoffs loomed around the corner. He decided to ring the changes, to allow players to rest in an ever growing SuperRugby series. The Lions required a single point to finish on top of the overall standings and would thus have sealed a home final - if they make it into the final. The Lions can still have a home final if certain teams lose but I truly believe that you take charge of your own destiny rather than leaving it in somebody else’s hands. It also means that the Lions will now have to face SuperRugby power house and 7 times champions the Crusaders rather than an inconsistent Sharks team. If the Lions were to make the final and the Hurricanes are their opponents, who are considered favorites, they will have to travel to Wellington. If this happens, the Lions could have cost themselves approximately R10 million by not having the final at Emirates Airline Park. This money could have gone a long way in keeping senior players in South Africa and away from European and Japanese seasons, because competing with the £ and $ is becoming futile. However one of my favorite sayings are “if you want to be the best you need to beat the best” so if the Lions ar e able to show the determination, passion and BMT they will be the true SuperRugby champions.
