Cap Martin, Alpes-Maritimes This development in the south of France has been designed to work with the gently sloping land in Cap Martin’s pine woods. Villa Vera features innovative engineering and advanced technology, from seismic architecture (the implementation of architectural decisions, creations or ideas to accommodate for earthquakes) to Cobiax technology (precast concrete panels). The villa’s design plays with outside and inside space, blending the two together to open up the living accommodation. It enjoys panoramic views of the sea and the bay, and also benefits from private gardens and a swimming pool.

GRAND DESIGNS
Chamonix, Haute-Savoie “A decadent yet functional chalet, balancing the experience of mountain living yet with a unique dynamism to the traditional chalet build.” In the heart of Chamonix valley in the small village of Le Lavancher, this project challenges the typical chalet design. The structure is designed around four spacious sections, which extend out into the surrounding environment. It blends exterior and interior through the use of large glass openings, bringing the spectacular scenery into the chalet, and a swimming pool has been positioned to make the most of the views. Featuring wood and stone, the interior finish has been inspired by the mountain setting. There are six bedrooms, providing accommodation for 12 people, while a spa, gym and relaxation room have also been incorporated into the design. ■ www.shapestudio.eu
