The Retreat celebrate 30 fabulous years

Popular Rochdale beauty salon, The Retreat, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special celebratory VIP event.

Distinguished guests were treated on arrival to a gift bag filled with goodies from the salon’s favourite brands, and were welcomed by a prosecco tower, doughnut stand and canapés, plus a multi-tiered white and gold cake by The Retreat's St Mary's Gate neighbour, Brown's Cakes.

Guests also enjoyed entertainment by local singer and musician Edward Jamil, and cocktails from an on-site mixologist, and had the chance to do a spot of Christmas shopping including cashmere scarves, handbags, accessories and beauty gifts.

The Retreat was originally established on Baillie Street as ‘Nails and Things’ in 1993 by Laura Prime. Nails and Things grew in popularity and moved from their original location to their current home on St Mary's Gate.

Emma bought the business in 2013, and today The Retreat works alongside local colleges providing work experience opportunities to aspiring beauty professionals and also provides up to two apprenticeships each year.

The Retreat has survived two recessions, and a global pandemic with lockdowns and restrictions, which almost saw it close.

Emma Fitton commented: "As we celebrate our 30th birthday, I am filled with immense sense of pride to own a long-standing business in the heart of our town. It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for the unwavering support of our loyal customers and my dedicated team who are professionals through and through offering a high standard of the latest beauty and nail services with a smile.

"Looking back, we have created countless memories, shared laughter, and witnessed milestones together. As we embark on the next chapter, I am excited to continue serving our community, exploring new horizons, and creating even more cherished moments. Here's to 30 years of success, and to an exciting future ahead!"

Emma added: "We managed to raise £350 for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of my dad; thank you to the generosity of local businesses including a bouquet from The Bloom Room, Middleton, and vouchers from Chantilly."
