Bottoms up! Let’s delve into the wonderful world of all things champagne and decadence. BNE local, Amanda Reboul, is more than just a barrel of fun – she is an expert champagne educator offering masterclasses with some fabulous experiences under her belt.
Although Amanda is known by her iconic title, ‘The Bubble Diva,’ she is certainly anything but a diva. She has taken her passion to a whole new level; travelling the world and dedicating her career to champagne. You could say it puts a sparkle in her eye – just a touch of bubbles is all it takes to make her day brighter. “I love seeing faces light up when I explain something about the champagne clients are tasting and they ‘get it’ – it’s wonderful,” she says. Amanda describes the buzz of her events like champagne bubbles, they are infectious, and people just can’t help being happy.
You may be surprised to learn that although it’s a white drink, it’s made from mostly black grapes, or that Champagne wasn’t the first region in France to produce sparkling wine. This is just a taste of Amanda’s knowledge of the field.
Her voyage into the glamorous world of bubbly started on her 18th birthday. “I fell in love with champagne the first time I tasted it – a bottle of Bollinger Special Cuvee – I’ll never forget, then when I first visited the region in 1995, I fell in love with the people, their generosity, and the history,” says Amanda.
Amanda went on to work and compete alongside sommeliers and wine educators across the globe. She has even visited the cellar of Moet et Chandon to taste some of the best Moet Vintages and was welcomed into Madam Lily Bollinger’s dining room.
Amanda encourages everyone to taste all sorts of champagne, “don’t just keep choosing the same ones all the time, you need to open your horizon, be bold, and try something new,” she says.
So, why not pop a bottle of bubbly in honour of a fabulous lady? Check out her upcoming events and masterclasses because you could just end up on a Whitsunday champagne escape.
