McMillan reports that in addition to 149 assisted living suites, the centre offers 48 private healthcare suites grouped within four Memory Care Cottages of 12 people each, with 24/7 specially trained staff devoted to a person-directed philosophy.

The 149 Senior Living suites feature studio, and one and two-bedroom residences in a six-storey apartment tower divided into five ‘neighbourhoods’ to enhance community connection. Each floor or ‘neighbourhood’ includes a common area with floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed timber columns to create a homey and relaxing atmosphere.

Easy living options at Bergen Gardens include two meals per day for dine-in at The Heartwood Dining Room, take-out and room service, or dining on The Prairie Sky Patio. Light housekeeping and regular wellness checks from qualified healthcare professionals are other options. Packages may be upgraded at any time to include amenities such as underground parking, additional meals and salon service, and healthcare options.

"We know that sometimes situations change, and health challenges can become overwhelming,” says McMillan, mentioning that at Bergen Gardens, they have tenants covered with access to healthcare staff 24 hours per day.

There is more. Tenants can enjoy onsite access to a convenience store, cinema, spa and salon, as well as a mas- sage, physiotherapy and foot care facility, reading room and art studio in the Town Square central hub. There is also an 80-person community centre perfect for live entertainment or large family gatherings, and a 25-person ‘Friendship Centre’ with a kitchen so tenants can carry on traditions of meeting as a family or hosting a party, knowing they have the room and support to do it.

“We also offer two hospitality suites for tenants’ guests when they visit,” says Martens, inviting people (and their pets) to discover the unique nature of relaxed senior living at Bergen Gardens.
