Luxurious ambience, elegant decor, delicious cuisine, an exciting new brasserie and bar has opened in our capital which truly exceeds all expectations.
Discover Your Aura
Located within the historic Coal Exchange Hotel in the heart of the Bay, Aura is the newest independent brasserie to join Cardiff's dining scene. It strikes a perfect balance between heritage and contemporary design. With its close proximity to the centre of Cardiff, as well as music, theatre, and leisure attractions, Aura promises to provide an ideal setting for any occasion. The brasserie offers a variety of dining options, including lunches, brunches, pre-theatre, and an à la carte menu.
We met with Stephanie Govier from the Coal Exchange, who spoke passionately about the building and its heritage. "The Coal Exchange is one of the most iconic buildings in the world, with significant historical and cultural importance. The
hotel deserves a respectful approach to its restoration. Our goal is to sympathetically restore as much as possible, focusing on the buildings beautiful original features. We began refurbishing and rebranding the restaurant
in late summer, with a grand opening held in October 2024. Aura has been a huge success to date, we hope that people of Cardiff and beyond will visit and support our new destination brasserie, which is creating a vibrant buzz in the bay."
Stephanie has always been passionate about interior design and recently launched her own brand, Flair Interiors. For Aura, Stephanie envisioned a space that blends intense hues, rich timber, natural stone and a contrast of textures. Her goal was to create an intimate environment that could serve multiple purposes for guests, including work zones, family gatherings, relaxed lunches, romantic candlelit date nights, and a lively bar area.
Sophie Pascoe of Studio Severn took on the design brief and commented, "With an abundance of historical charm and nods to the building's heritage, Aura incorporates a simple contemporary luxe, adding elegance that contrasts with the exposed raw industrial features."

The Heart of Christmas at Laings
Amidst the chill of winter's wind and the glistening snow, the warmth we share with each other creates a host of magical memories. The festive season is one that shines brightly, reminding us of the importance of love and family. Moments of closeness are spent surrounded by the twinkling lights of Christmas and the festive traditions we have come to embrace. No matter what Christmas may look like for each of us, the spirit of giving and spending time with the ones we love is at the heart of Christmas.
It is at Christmas that we have the opportunity to give gifts that represent our enduring love as well as our most timeless moments.
This year, Scottish born jeweller Laings has embraced the spirit of the season in their new campaign
The Heart of Christmas. At Laings, the beauty of family is a cornerstone of their business. Now in its sixth generation, the unique jewellery creations found in each showroom act as a symbol of love.
Often thought of as a timeless emblem, the gift of jewellery and watches has long been cherished. Since before the Victorian era, diamonds and jewellery have been gifted between family, romantic partners and friends. Whilst often given with heartfelt sentiment, it can be difficult to select the perfect gift that encapsulates how you feel.
The Heart of Christmas at Laings celebrates the giving of gifts that transcend generations. Marketing Director, Sally Pearson explains the idea behind this year’s festive campaign:
‘To us, Christmas gifting is more than just material possession, it should symbolise our emotions and be a portrait of our relationships with each other. Whilst jewellery and watch gifting has long been a tradition in many cultures and for many different occasions, we wanted to celebrate a love that is the essence of forever.’
This year, Laings emphasises timeless traditions and the importance of family in their messaging. Liz Killin, Manager of Laings Edinburgh, shares her expert insights, highlighting her top luxury gift picks for the festive season along with tips on adding a personal touch to make each present uniquely yours.
‘One of our favourite gift recommendations this year can be found in our PreOwned watch collection, whilst a timepiece is always an appreciated gift, there are ways to make this gift more thoughtful than just style. One way to do this is to give your loved one a Pre-Owned watch from the year they were born or from a year that is a landmark of a special moment, perhaps the year you were married or when a child was born.’
Laings takes great pride in their Pre-Owned range, with each timepiece that enters the collection undergoing a rigorous inspection and evaluation, ensuring they are of the highest quality. With exquisite pieces from an array of renowned Swiss-watch brands, the selection is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship and enduring style. Whether you’re seeking a classic design or a rare collector’s piece, each watch in the Laings Pre-Owned range offers the perfect blend of luxury and heritage.
The gift of forever is beautifully embodied in the exquisite diamond creations that glisten through each of Laings showrooms, with Christmas memories sparkling in incredible gemstones:
‘Diamond jewellery has long been cherished as a timeless gift, and for good reason. With their unmatched resilience—ranking a perfect 10 on the Mohs hardness scale—diamonds are made to endure, just like true love. A diamond pendant or earrings are popular choices for festive gifting, allowing the wearer to carry a sparkling reminder of the love they are adorned with every day.’
Each diamond that graces the showrooms of this historic jeweller is carefully curated to demonstrate the beauty and brilliance of these geological wonders. Thoughtfully chosen and set by skilled jewellers, incredible pieces are created that shine with majesty and are crafted to be treasured for years to come.
Another beautiful way to surprise your loved ones is in the gifting of a jewellery or watch service that can be undertaken at each of their locations:
‘Laings has always recognised the shared responsibility, alongside our peers, to preserve the art of jewellery crafting and servicing. One way we honour this commitment is through the meticulous care given to every piece that enters our workshops. A truly meaningful gift for any recipient is the gift of restoring a cherished piece of jewellery or their treasured timepiece, ensuring it remains a source of joy for years to come.’
Although this gift may be seen as unconventional by some, its significance goes far beyond the act of gifting. These care services can be applied to various pieces in your loved one's collection. Whether you choose to gift a thorough clean and polish for the engagement ring worn every day or restore a cherished heirloom to its former glory, there are countless ways to make this offering special, a wonderful gift for someone who has everything.
No matter what gift you choose, let your heart guide your decision. The most meaningful gifts are those infused with personal touches that reflect your unique relationships. The experts at Laings are ready to assist you in selecting the perfect emblem of love this festive season. Whether you’re seeking a stunning piece of jewellery or a heartfelt personalised gift, their dedicated team can help you create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. Visit Laings today and discover The Heart of Christmas, with gifts that transcend generations and celebrate a love that is the essence of forever. AA Cars Cardiff is revolutionising car sales. They have completed over 125 sales in less than seven months and received over 90 five-star reviews.
Style of the City introduces Cardiff's newest and most exciting car sales brand, which brings a fresh, luxurious feel to the automotive industry.
Former 'UK Sales Manager of the Year' Matthew Hodge has taken his over 20 years of industry experience to set up AA Cars Cardiff, a used car
business with a difference. The company operates out of a brand new, contemporary and fully furnished office facility based on Ocean Way, but AA
Cars is much more than your usual car sales business; it's a brand that understands the process of buying a car should feel relaxed, fun and effortless.
AA Cars Cardiff specialises in cars priced between £3000 £10000 and has become something of a 'go-to' for first-time drivers. Over 50% of their sales are to customers (or parents) looking for their first cars.
AA Cars not only sells cars but also buys them directly from customers. Additionally, they can help you find specific cars. Just provide your wishlist, and they will handle the searching for you, saving you the time of browsing websites or visiting showrooms.
The company also received its first award—recognised by Autotrader in July as one of their 'Highly Rated Dealers 2024' for Customer Service.
AA Cars Cardiff offers all its customers a free Six-Month warranty and 12 months of AA Breakdown cover. Every car has a Brand-New MOT with no advisories, a Brand-New service, and a comprehensive multipoint Health Check, along with being a member of the AA Dealer Group.
So, what makes AA Cars a stand-out service?
"We saw a gap in the market when it came to customer service – especially in the price bracket that we operate in – and wanted to offer some luxury and an unrivalled customer experience. Modern customers don't want to be 'sold to' – they just want to feel relaxed and welcomed into a friendly, pressure-free and professional environment – if the car is priced correctly and is presented well, the sale should follow."

A Piece of History
Clogau has a fascinating story firmly rooted in the heart of Wales. Every piece of Clogau jewellery and all our watches contain rare Welsh gold; even the silver designs carry it within subtle 9ct rose gold detailing. This means Clogau owners wear a piece of Wales wherever they go – a source of great pride and a permanent connection to our special nation.
The origins of Clogau gold
Mining at the Clogau St David’s operation had for centuries yielded only copper, until one day in 1854 when ore with a distinctive rose hue was unearthed. But this was definitely not copper… From the discovery of gold until the first closure of the mine in 1911, around 2.5 tonnes of gold were extracted before the metal became too difficult to locate.
The birth of a brand
In 1992 the first jewellery appeared from the newly formed brand Clogau Gold of Wales Limited. The Clogau St David’s mine closed for the second time in the late 1990s, and with no other gold mining taking place in Wales at that time, Welsh gold became one of
the rarest and most desirable in the world. Clogau now employs around 130 people at its North Wales Head Office and 13 stores across Wales and England who are dedicated to telling the story of the brand and its beautiful jewellery.
In the late 1980s, local businessman Bill Roberts acquired the abandoned mine with plans to reopen it as a tourist centre. When Snowdonia National Park Authority denied permission for the scheme, Bill went prospecting for undiscovered gold – and hit the jackpot!
the Welsh songstress and star of The Voice, continues to make waves in the music scene.
Bethzienna, a talented Welsh singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer, made a significant impact during the 2019 season of The Voice. She gained support from both Jennifer Hudson and Tom Jones after her captivating performance of "Cry To Me," a soul classic originally recorded by one of Tom's heroes, Solomon Burke.
Her blind audition gained an impressive 2.5 million views on YouTube, showcasing her electric chemistry with the coaches.
This performance was just the latest highlight in a remarkable career that has already taken Bethzienna on incredible adventures, including experiences on movie sets and even at Buckingham Palace.
Growing up in Barry, Bethzienna always knew she wanted to pursue a music career. She credits her performance skills to "The King," noting the influence of her background. "Attending a Welsh-language school made music a necessity," she explains. "It felt like we were harmonising from the age of five. Music is a huge part of our culture. One distinct memory I have is realising music's impact on me while watching a program discussing artists who had passed away—icons and legends."
Gradually, Bethzienna came forward to the music of her contemporaries,
Her taste for the stage was developing by the time she was seven, when she started entering the Eisteddfod festival, doing so every year until she was 16. Still, barely in her teens, Beth was spotted at an Eisteddfod performance by a television executive who was staging a Welsh Pop Idol show called Wow Factor. She finished in the top three, as did future singing star Duffy.
The acting ambition was also instinctive. "When I was young, my mum said, 'What do you want to be when you're older?' and I said, 'Everything.' I wanted to work at Tesco on the checkout, be an engineer, a waitress, or a doctor. I wanted to embody all of these types of characters. I thought, 'I'll just be an actress! I loved and still do, storytelling and entertaining.'
Bethzienna wrote a single, 'Welcome Home,' for the charity performed by the children of the armed forces. This single went on to have its debut at the National Memorial Arboretum, where Bethzienna met with The
"I was doing the usual sneaking downstairs at night, as I and my brother always did, and I just stopped in my tracks. I saw this guy performing. He had a guitar and he was swinging from side to side. It was Elvis Presley doing 'Jailhouse Rock.' I was mesmerised."
Princess Royal. Later, in 2022, after filming and recording in Abbey Road Studios, 'Welcome Home' was picked up by Simon Cowell. The single reached the semi-finals of ITV'S BGT.
"I feel like I'm making a difference with Never Such Innocence, and I see it," she says. "We get to work with all kinds of children, write together, practise the song and then record it and submit it into the competition. If they win, they get to perform it at great places. Last year, the winners performed at Buckingham Palace, which was incredible. It's lovely to see the effect that music can have."
Singing with Tom Jones on The Voice was, of course, a pinnacle moment for Bethzienna. "I'd dreamed my whole life of singing with him," she beams. "Musically, it would be him and Dame Shirley Bassey that I've looked up to because they come from the same area. So when it happened, I was like, 'I'm not going to let this slip.'
"In the knockout round, I didn't see much of him, but after that, it became a friendship. It was strange to go from admiring him to casually saying, 'Morning Tom, fancy a coffee?' He's the most down-to-earth person I've met despite his status."
Performing on The Voice has given Beth clarity in her artistry.
"I used to wonder how to blend acting, dancing, music, and writing without being different characters. Now it feels like it's all come together as one," she says.

Dr Kathryn has established a strong reputation in her field by combining her medical expertise with a passion for enhancing natural beauty. This approach resonates deeply with clients who seek subtle, naturallooking results that boost their confidence without appearing overdone.
At Dr Kathryn Aesthetics, a comprehensive range of services is available. The clinic specialises in facial aesthetics, including popular treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers, and skin rejuvenation procedures. Each treatment
is tailored to the individual, ensuring personalised care that addresses specific concerns and desired outcomes.
One of the clinic's standout features is its emphasis on safety and education. Dr Kathryn prioritises this in consultations, taking the time to understand clients' needs and expectations. This process includes discussing potential risks and benefits, allowing patients to make informed treatment decisions. How do I book an appointment with Dr Kathryn?
Q. All Dr Kathryn's appointments are available to book online via her Website https:// drkathrynaesthetics. co.uk/or her online booking calendar https://www.glowday. com
Q. I'm worried I'm going to look fake with a procedure. How can I avoid this?
A. Dr Kathryn will consult with you fully to explore all possible treatment options. The media often highlight the "bad" examples of filler procedures but not so much the good examples. These are cases of too much of the wrong filler used in the wrong place. Dr Kathryn will always formulate a bespoke treatment plan you are comfortable with.
Q. I know I want antiwrinkle treatment. Do I have to book in for a separate consultation?
A. No – a separate consultation is for those who aren't sure what treatment they would like and want to go through multiple treatment options. If you know what you want, you can book in for a treatment, and Dr Kathryn will include a consultation.

Nutrition Coach and Radio
Presenter Jess Bloom reveals her best tips for achieving wellness goals.
As a Nutrition Coach, one of the most frequently asked questions is, "What changes can I make today to work towards being a healthier version of myself?" So I thought, let's answer that right now so you can start implementing these easy tips today (and I guarantee you'll feel better when you do!).
Hi, by the way, I'm Jess Bloom. I've been an Online Coach for nearly four years at Nourish & Gain. My primary goal is to show as many people as possible that you can reach your health and fitness goals, feel confident and love your body without doing anything restrictive or cutting out certain foods. Especially the foods you love! I pride myself on giving my clients their 'food freedom' back and reducing the volume of some of the 'food noise' that can be all-consuming. Although I could write for days about nutrition and all the different topics that come with it, I have a word count to stay within, so let's dive into four things you can ADD into your day to help you feel fuller, more balanced and not restricted.
Let's start with one you'll hear all the time
1) Protein. Ensuring you have a source of protein in each meal will help keep you fuller for longer, as we use more energy (or calories) just digesting protein, which is more challenging for our body to digest (also great for your 'metabolism'). It is also vital for cell turnover, maintaining muscle mass and providing collagen for our hair, skin and nails. I could go on, but trust me on this one. Some examples include eggs or Greek yoghurt in your breakfast, salmon or tofu in your lunch, chicken, beef or lentils in your dinner. The list is endless!
2) Plant diversity. How many different colours can you squeeze into your nutrition
daily? If you're making eggs on toast in the morning, can you add some tomatoes, avocado, crispy kale, and fresh herbs? If you're having a chicken flatbread for lunch, can you make a little Greek salad to also pop inside? If you're making a spaghetti bol, why not finely dice it and throw all the veggies you have in the fridge into it? Plant diversity is key to overall health, gut health, mental health, energy levels, and so much more.
3) Hydration. I'll keep this short and sweet, as we all know the importance of hydration. Step on the scales, then multiply your body weight in kilograms by 0.033—that's how many litres of water you should be drinking each day.
4) Time outdoors. If you can get a 30-minute walk in every day outside, you are on to a winner. Walking is amazing for our sleep and circadian rhythm (our sleep cycle), digestion, mental clarity, and vitamin D levels (which, if you're not supplementing vitamin D right now, you need to be! There's a bonus tip for you), and so much more!
Four things you can add to each day which aren't timeconsuming and don't require sacrificing any of the things you love! My online coaching offers a personalised approach to your specific goals. With a personal trainer and a nutrition coach, you get two coaches in your back pocket!

Rest Space Floatation
Our founder, Rosie Harris, visited Penarth’s newest wellness spot and shares her thoughts.
Like many business owners, I'm working on finding time to relax and rejuvenate. I often struggle to switch off, so when I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a saltwater floatation chamber that claims to relieve stress and enhance clarity and well-being, I felt both sceptical and curious.
Rest Space Floatation is the latest wellness brand to emerge in Penarth, a town that's experiencing growth with recent openings like Hickemans Restaurant.
Located on Cornerswell Road, Rest Space Floatation offers floatation therapy designed to
help regulate your brain and nervous system. Upon entering the therapy centre, I was warmly greeted by owners Ryan and Charlotte, who immediately put me at ease. After a thorough introduction about what to expect, I was shown around their beautifully transformed premises, which feels like an oasis. They have a dedicated seating and relaxation area at the back of the building, perfect for unwinding after a floating session.
With a sense of anticipation, I followed the instructions to take a quick shower before stepping into the pod-like, Epsom saltfilled chamber. Once the lid closed and the lights faded, I felt my body start to relax. It may sound odd, but without any external stimuli—like phones or emails—I was prompted to look inward and clear away mental blockages. As I delved deeper into my subconscious, I began to work through thoughts I had been grappling with. An overwhelming sense of calm washed over me; it felt as though my mind had
Once the lid closed and the lights faded, I felt my body start to relax
returned to its natural state of being. I had never experienced anything like this before. As my session concluded, I was filled with clarity, completely stressfree and ready to tackle the rest of my day.
Here's my verdict on Rest Space Floatation: I cannot recommend it enough. You truly have to experience this awakening of the senses. With so much going on in the world and the pressures of everyday life, a sanctuary like this is more needed than ever.
Turning Pain into Purpose, Creating Premium Spaces for People to Thrive
In the heart of the city, where dreams are shaped by the walls around us, Norah Rose stands as a beacon of transformation. As a multi-award-winning property Staging, Design, and Furniture Pack Specialist, we pride ourselves on delivering premium, bespoke packages tailored to the unique needs of Investors, Developers, Agents, and Homeowners. But beyond the accolades and impeccable design, there lies a deeply personal story—one of resilience, reinvention, and a mission to create environments that inspire others to thrive.
My journey to founding Norah Rose was anything but ordinary. At 17, I faced the unimaginable loss of my father—a pain that left an indelible mark on my life. Struggling to cope, I turned to unhealthy habits and poor choices, but deep down, I knew this wasn't my path - I mean, he always did tell me there was another way forward (thanks Dad!).
Fast forward to the lockdown years, and life presented yet another set of challenges. Losing my beloved grandmother, Norah, the backbone of my family, the authentic, creative and passionate woman she was., Absolute devastation filled me once again. A loss that reignited the flickering flame of resilience within me.
"It’s about creating meaningful and healthy environments for people to thrive. I just love creating spaces that tell a story, create emotion and celebrate individuality"
With my partner, I embarked on a fresh start, moving to a new city filled with hope and ambition. Yet, life's trials persisted. Celebrating our news of becoming pregnant but navigating the heartbreak of not one but multiple pregnancy losses one after another after another, tested our strength in ways we couldn't have imagined. Through it all, though, I found clarity in one thing: The need to channel my pain into purpose. That purpose became Norah Rose.
What sets us apart is our ethos. Norah Rose isn't just about creating beautiful spaces—it's about creating meaningful ones, healthy environments for people to tell stories, celebrate individuality, and foster well-being. This commitment has earned us the trust of a diverse clientele, from property developers seeking that "WOW factor" to homeowners maximising their spaces' potential.
nostalgia and evoke emotion, these premium scents will offer an individual signature for any space—whether it’s your home or a developer’s show home. This line is designed to elevate environments through the power of emotion, fragrance and feeling, adding a final touch of luxury and personal connection.
At Norah Rose, our mission is to craft spaces that are not only aesthetically stunning but also nurturing. We believe the environments we create can profoundly impact how people feel, perform, and connect. From luxury home staging designed to captivate buyers to commercial installations that seamlessly blend elegance and functionality, every project is a testament to our commitment to premium quality (with a pinch of pizazz).
But this is just the beginning of our story. In February 2025, we’re thrilled to unveil Norah Rose Studios—a dynamic space where creativity and collaboration will flourish. This studio will be a hub for designers, freelancers, and creatives in South Wales, offering a vibrant co-working environment while serving as the beating heart of our design endeavours. It will be a place where ideas come to life, and innovation knows no bounds.
We’re also thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our bespoke home fragrance line. Crafted to create a feeling of
You'll see a lot more of us as we launch our Trends and Tips section online in partnership with Style of the City. This initiative will spotlight the latest in design, offering readers practical advice and inspiration to elevate their own spaces. For those seeking fresh ideas, stay tuned for even more premium show homes—each one a masterpiece designed to inspire and captivate.
Through the trials and triumphs, my mission remains clear: To transform not just spaces but lives. Norah Rose is my way of giving back, of taking the pain I've endured and using it to create beauty and functionality for others.
So, whether you’re seeking a bespoke staging service, design expertise, or a space to fuel your creativity, I invite you to connect with us at Norah Rose. Together, let’s create something extraordinary.

with a nuanced understanding of the luxury market. We love what we do and are so passionate about the service we provide for our clients and this really comes across when you work with us. In an industry that can often come with bad connotations, we really strive to make a difference and demonstrate how working with us, and a brand such as Fine & Country, can be an enjoyable and premium experience, with service and client needs at its core.
What also sets us apart is our focus on showcasing homes with unique lifestyle features, making the properties not just places to live but also experiences to enjoy.
At Fine & Country, we offer a refreshing approach to selling exclusive homes, combining individual flair and attention to detail with the expertise of local estate agents to create a strong international network, with powerful marketing capabilities.
We Value Presentation, Exposure And Service
We understand that moving home is one of the most important decisions you will make; your home is both a financial and emotional investment. We understand that it’s the little things – without a price tag – that make a house a home, and this makes us a valuable partner, whether you're buying or selling.
We know the art of successfully selling exquisite, premium properties, and in our experience, there are three guiding principles to maximising the sale price of your property and ensuring a successful sale.
How do you get the BEST price for your home?
Presentation
Every home is unique and at Fine & Country, we ensure every property is portrayed in its absolute best light. With a combination of professional photography and videography, as well as exquisite brochures we can perfectly portray the unique details and lifestyle of your home.
Exposure
The widespread exposure of prime residential properties is crucial. Buyers of exclusive properties are generally not constrained by such influences as specific location, proximity to public transportation or local amenities. In today’s market, the mobility of buyers is greater than ever and they could come from, quite literally, anywhere – through local and regional marketing, national newspapers and magazines or, increasingly, internationally using interactive technologies.
Service
We ensure that your sale is as smooth as possible through regular communication and review of your bespoke marketing strategy. We make sure that your offers are valid and potential purchasers are fully motivated and qualified. All prospective buyers are accompanied on viewings by experienced, knowledgeable team members who are confident in promoting the benefits of your property and the local area.
“Staging can help increase buyer interest resulting in a faster sale and higher offers. In a tougher market it is important for properties to stand out and by investing in home staging, professional photos, presented videos and a strong marketing campaign can typically result in your home selling for around 8-10% more.”
“Price competitively for the market, do your research of other homes in close proximity and see if the price you want fits, compared to what else is available on market”
“Do your sums: work out if you can afford to move. For example, do you have any penalties on mortgage, what can you borrow for onward purchase and work out your solicitor, land tax and agent fees.”

WEDDING GUIDE
Wild and Fabulous Flowers
Discover the awardwinning Welsh florist whose extraordinary floral skills are creating a buzz in the industry.
Wild and Fabulous Flowers is an award-winning floristry business based just outside Cowbridge, at Llandough Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. It was founded by Rhian Rees. Rhian's background has always been design-led, from working in fashion for ten years to then re-training as a commercial landscape designer and consequently running her own consultancy, specialising in sensory care home gardens. Plants and flowers are her absolute passion; she is a selfconfessed plant addict who cannot resist a trip to her local nursery. Her husband hid the keys to her van once, but she took her mini and still managed to fit 45 dahlias into it! Having always loved floristry, Rhian had the opportunity during
the pandemic to create florals for small weddings. It was a wonderful experience to be able to help couples have bespoke flowers for their weddings in such difficult circumstances. From this, she has grown her business to encompass all
aspects of floristry: weddings, events, large installations, and farewell flowers, as well as providing weekly displays for hotels. Rhian now has a team of incredibly talented and creative women who work alongside her, who, even on the
coldest and wettest of days, still love what they do. Wild and Fabulous Flowers holds floral workshops throughout the year in the original Victorian orangery at Llandough Castle. The workshops include vases for British Flowers Week, hand-tied bouquets, foraging workshops, tablescapes, and, of course, the very popular Christmas Wreath workshops. When you attend one of the workshops in the summer, you can also stroll around the four acres of gardens that Rhian has been restoring for the last 12 years. The gardens include a potager, wildlife pond, croquet lawn with formal borders and a woodland garden with stumpery. For their magical winter workshops, you'll enjoy fizz and canapes in the toastie warm orangery or old dining room - the fires crackling and the fairy lights twinkling! The team have many
regulars who return for wreathmaking workshops every year - a lovely tradition. The florals that Rhian and her team create are influenced by her knowledge of designing with plants - whether it's their weekly hotel install at Lanelay Hall or a big-budget wedding at Gileston Manor. Texture, size, shape, colour and scent are so important in all floral designs - whether it is creating a tablescape of bud vases right the way through to large installations, such as arches, columns, church entrances or large marquees. The Wild & Fabulous style is both natural and contemporary, and the team are used to rulebreaking when it comes to arrangements. The business's values are to work sustainably, seasonally and locally wherever possible. In season, Rhian works closely with her local flower farmers to source her flowers.
She also has a cutting garden where she grows her must-have species, such as chocolate cosmos! After being a keen gardener since she was 18, Rhian understands how important it is to work with seasonal plants and flowers in design. Strictly sustainable, the team never uses disposable floral foam - opting for sustainable mechanics instead. Wedding florals are Rhian's passion and love. Rhian and her team work closely with their couples to ensure that their florals are completely perfect for them on the day. Rhian takes on a limited number of weddings each year to ensure that each one is given a very personal touch. Every wedding is entirely bespoke with colour palettes, flowers and styling chosen

Real Life
Wedding
Welsh international football star Jessica Fishlock MBE married Tziarra King, an American professional soccer player, at Sant Ffraed House in the heart of her home country, Wales. Jessica is renowned as the most capped player in Welsh football history and has been named Welsh Footballer of the Year five times. We caught up with Jess and Zee about their gorgeous wedding.
Where did you get married?
Sant Ffraed House
What attracted you to the venue?
Zee wanted to marry in Wales, which was a definite choice. Due to my schedule, I was at camp and couldn't visit Sant Ffraed House. Feeling jetlagged after returning home, I sent
my mum and sister to check out the venue.
I had given my card to my mum, and when I noticed a charge on it, I called to ask what happened. They convinced me not to look for another venue, saying I wouldn't find one like it. They took videos for Zee and me to review.
A month later, I finally saw the venue. I loved it from the videos, but it was even more stunning in person. When Zee came home for Christmas, we visited together, and she was equally amazed. We didn't consider any other venues; it was perfect and unmatched.
What did you have for food, and how was it?
The food was incredible! We started with a garden and French onion soups. For mains, I had pork, and Zee had lamb. We then had pavlova and a chocolate choux bun for dessert.
Overall, the food was beautiful, and the service was exceptional. Many people commented on how seamless the staff were as they moved around the tables. It was truly impressive!
What did you wear? Tell us about your gown
Zee wore a plunge-neck, backless, lace dress with a gorgeous train and an incredibly beautiful long veil. Both our dresses had lace and a little bit of sequins.
Mine had a high neck and long sleeves. The back was cut out but attached at the top, and I had lace detail all down the side of the dress. I had an obscenely long train; it was so big, I loved it!
Tell us about your bridesmaids, who they were, and where you got the dresses from.
I had six bridesmaids, and Zee had five. Their dresses were from the American website Azizie, which specialises in all things bridal.
We were initially going for champagne-coloured dresses. Zee and I were travelling one day to a game, and whilst on the flight, Zee texted me, and I'm sat right next to her. Her message said she wanted to change the colour ways. She thought I'd go mad, but I was open to the idea. It was three months before the wedding, but the team at Azizie was great, and I'm so glad we did change them because the mix of green was so beautiful.
What was your best memory of the ceremony?
There are so many! Honestly, I think saying our vows was incredibly beautiful, and I loved the string quartet; I could have listened to them for hours. Zee and her mother had a mother-of-the-bride dance, which was amazing and super emotional. You could see how strong their relationship was through the dance.
What was your first dance song?
Sweet Sympathy by Joy Oladokun and Chris Stapleton
How did you entertain your guests?
We had a band, Summer Sons and a DJ, Boutique Disco
What was the cake like?
We had a three-tier cake. One tier was a sponge cake, one was carrot cake, and the other was coffee.
What's your top tip for future couples getting married?
Our wedding wasn't traditional; we wanted to enjoy every moment together. When Zee was getting ready in the Honeymoon suite at Sant Ffraed House, I popped in to see her, but not for long, only to say good morning. We wanted to experience the day together, so after the ceremony, we stayed together, and we saw everybody together. We made an effort to visit each guest's table, which was nice for us and the guests.
Remember, the day is a celebration of you both. The more you can enjoy it together, the more it will enhance your day.
Picture a breathtaking winter wedding, just like Jess and Tziarra's. Discover the allure for yourself by visiting oldwallscollection.com to explore their exclusive showcase events and private tour options. You won't want to miss this opportunity!

Staycation in Style at Cardiff's Hilton hotel
Like many busy mums, finding time to Christmas shop while entertaining my not-so-little daughter can be challenging at the best of times. When the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff offered to host us, I couldn't think of a better opportunity to enjoy this iconic building in the heart of Cardiff.
Fromthe very start, the staff were extremely attentive, and our room was warm, comfortable and absolutely gorgeous. The impeccable views of Cardiff Castle and the beautiful treats we received in the room added to an already warm welcome. It was a great opportunity to spend quality time with my daughter, and the Hilton made this possible. We explored the facilities the Hilton offered to really make the most of our stay; I used the heated swimming pool and was amazed by the size and cleanliness of this facility. I also came across the gym offering a great variety of exercise machines; The Hilton offers several things to do in the hotel, making this a great stay for all.
We enjoyed a beautiful meal at the Graze restaurant, where the service and food were equally impressive; the menu offered lots of food options, making this restaurant accessible for all dietary requirements; the restaurant also had a
beautiful design and a cosy atmosphere, meaning I could truly relax, unwind and enjoy myself. The highlight of my stay was the balloons that my daughter and I were welcomed with. The balloons had our names on them, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into this gesture. The staff truly wanted to ensure we had a fantastic time, making our stay feel extra special. It was a beautiful touch that we will always remember.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a staycation in Cardiff. The hotel is located in the city centre, making it the best location in Cardiff, especially at this time of year. It is just around the corner from the Christmas markets and only a five-minute walk from Cardiff's famous Winter Wonderland. The Hilton is in my top list of recommendations for a winter stay this year.

Not all the best Christmas markets in Europe are German I visited the Austrian ones!
This is the one time of year when it becomes socially acceptable to drink while shopping and wandering around markets in our cities, but where do you head if you fancy escaping from the usual UK Christmas markets? My top tip is to head to Austria rather than Germany this year, and here's why.
Ohhh Vienna
These have got to be the most stunningly beautiful Christmas markets I have ever visited. Festive lights that look like 4m high chandeliers suspended seemingly in mid-air, starburst lights that look like Renaissance sculptures, and the most significant Christmas trees you've ever seen.
Vienna has six different Christmas markets, so there's something for everyone. The Christmas Market Schloss Schonbrunn has the spectacular backdrop of the Schonbrunn Palace, which makes for a
magical setting. There's an Art Advent market on Karlsplatz, which has only the best suppliers from the local region and is framed by the impressive Karlskirche. The Old Viennese Christmas Market on Freyung is one of the oldest in Europe and can be traced back to 1772. The Christmas Market on Spittelberg is one of the most romantic and charming markets, as the narrow lanes of this area of the city are transformed into an enchanting Christmas village with every stall genuinely unique. The biggest Christmas market in Vienna is the Rathausplatz market, which extends out across City Hall Square and into the surrounding parkland. For those wanting the best value food and drink in a lively atmosphere, there's also a Christmas village on the university campus.
Vienna has a very romantic air, with horse-drawn carriages donning fur rugs, operas, and classical music. You could take a carriage between the markets if you were so inclined or enjoy a stroll between them to admire the stunning architecture of this capital city.
Surprisingly, it wasn't anywhere near as expensive as I thought it would be, and everywhere is so clean, unlike many markets in the UK.
I'd also highly recommend visiting the art galleries and enjoying an opera or live music while you're there. We attended a Mozart performance with musicians in period dress by candlelight; it was spectacular.
Salzburg
The birthplace of Mozart and the nearby Lake Mondsee was the setting for the Sound of Music.
Salzburg is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is stunning at Christmas time, resembling traditional Christmas card images. The Christkindlmarkt is within the town walls, so think cobbled pavements and some of the most delicious pretzels I've ever eaten. This is the oldest and one of the most beautiful advent markets in the world, as the market origins here date back to the late 15th Century. There are cute craft shops and stalls with some of the most beautiful gifts, especially if you're a sucker for Christmas decorations, candles and jewellery. There's also curated entertainment over the festive period, and come New Year's Eve, the market transforms into a New Year's Eve market with a celebratory firework display.
For a real treat, jump into the funicular railway up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress on the top of Festungsberg, high above the rooftops of the Baroque historic district, and you can enjoy a smaller festive food and drink market there, at weekends with live music too inside the grounds of the biggest fully preserved castle in Central Europe with views out across Austria. You can brave the walk up the mountain instead, but be careful of ice and wear sensible shoes.
Lindz
Yes, this is home of the chocolate bunnies we enjoy every Easter and a lot of chocolate shops and stalls, too. There's a beautifully petite Christmas market in the main town square. It's almost as visually stunning as Vienna is but on a smaller scale. It's very friendly and easy to navigate, less busy and crowded, too. There are lots of foodie-focused stalls, so if you like food, then this is the place to visit.
If you'd like to visit some of the finest markets in Europe, then why not enjoy a river cruise with 5-star Riverside Cruises? You can visit Vienna's Christmas market, Bratislava, and Budapest for four days. The cost is just £1487pp.
