New Beginnings

Kiti Cymru is proud to be an independent boutique set in the leafy suburb of Cardiff’s Pontcanna.

Gwenno, owner and fashionista, opened the doors of the original Kiti in 2015 and has recently launched a new store on Pontcanna Street. From then until now, she has remained at the heart of the Cardiff fashion scene. Gwenno said “My motivation for establishing Kiti came from spending a lot of time (and money!) in London and being inspired by the delectable suburban boutiques - an experience that I decided to bring home with me down the M4.” Soon, Gwenno had created a unique fashion haven stocking a mix of the finest contemporary European and global labels, including Ba&sh, Essentiel Antwerp, Stine Goya, Stella Nova and many, many more. She prides herself on being the only stockist in Wales of some brands such as Anine Bing, Ganni and Unselfish Lover, and supporting sustainable and ethical brands.

Kiti has gained a legion of admirers – it was named in the Telegraph’s top 50 independent boutiques in the UK for 4 consecutive years, featured in Grazia, in Style magazine of The Sunday Times, and shortlisted for the top independent boutiques in the UK by Drapers. Even lockdown didn’t stop Gwenno from bringing joy to her customers and eager Instagram followers. “I had a shop full of spring/summer collection, but no one was able to visit in person” said Gwenno “So I got creative, posting daily videos and images of me modelling the beautiful clothes. I was a one-woman, virtual fashion show!” Such was the clamour for her outfits, she launched a website which attracted new fans, followers and Kiti devotees from across the UK, and beyond! Then with lockdown lifting, time for the next adventure - relocating to a bigger store! The beginning of September 2022 saw Gwenno open the doors of this new shop, three times the size of the original Kiti, which includes even more of her customers’ favourites, as well as other, new and exciting, exclusive brands such as Farm Rio, Unselfish Lover, Celia B and Kitri Studio. One of Gwenno’s core aims is to work with and champion other women in business. “The new Kiti was co-designed with Conspicuous Collector’s talented Lisa Gates to give it its unique and vibrant style, whilst the opening weekend’s floral display was provided by the brilliant Rhian Rees from Wild.and.Fabulous.Flowers whose bespoke bouquets are available to purchase between Thursdays and Saturdays.” Having survived the pandemic and store move, Gwenno remains as passionate as ever - “People often ask me what the best bits of my job are. There are so many – buying all over Europe and sourcing new and exciting brands, dressing and giving style tips to customers and giving them a unique shopping experience, working with and following influencers and other boutiques, hosting real and virtual fashion shows and supporting and making women feel special!”

The Future Is ELECTRIC

Here’s what you need to know about the benefits of going electric.

FHEV = Full Hybrid Electric Vehicle FHEVs run on traditional fuel (like petrol or diesel) and an electric motor that uses energy stored in a battery.

HEV drivers charge their batteries via, energy converted into electrical power when the drive breaks to slow the vehicle, known as regenerative braking.

PHEV = Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle A Plug-in hybrid uses a battery to power an electric motor, and fuel to power a traditional engine. PHEV batteries are charged using a wall outlet or charging equipment, fuel, or through regenerative braking.

Kuga Beautifully designed, remarkably efficient, effortlessly capable. Kuga Plug-in Hybrid offers a clean, quiet approach to SUV driving*, with an electric-only range of up to 28 – 39 miles.

BENEFITS OF GOING ELECTRIC

Drive with confidence. You aren’t contributing to emissions. Fewer trips to the pumps. Charge at home and only on the longest journeys. Running costs will likely be cheaper as EVs have fewer moving parts that an engine. This means fewer maintenance requirements.

MHEV = Mild Hybrid Electronic Vehicle MHEVs blends a traditional engine and an electric motor. Using the battery reduces fuel consumption but you have the traditional fuelling option on hand if needed.

Puma, Focus and Fiesta Ecoboost is Ford MHEV technology (available in the Puma, Focus and Fiesta) which boasts 20% faster acceleration and 10% better fuel economy. Puma

CHARGING FACTS

Charging at home is more cost effective than at a charging station. Depending on the vehicle and if you have a driveway or garage at home, consider getting a wallbox charging point installed. Charging points range from £80-£2,000 depending on the speed the vehicle charges, if you need to charge more than one vehicle at a time, whether you’d like to control charging from your smartphone (smart chargers) and the design and quality of the unit. Check that your preferred vehicle is compatible with a super fast charger.

Can I plug it into mains electricity?

Yes, although it will take longer than charging via a wallbox.

How much does it cost to charge at home?

Charging at home cost about 14p-35p, costs vary by make and model (this approximation is from early Sept 22.)
