Astriking botanical centrepiece adorns the gallery’s newly established community space, here visitors can relax, catch up with friends, and fully embrace the impressive spectrum of colour, medium, form and beauty of the artwork housed inside this hidden gem of Cardiff Bay.

From exhibiting the original work of new and emerging artists, to the welcoming and knowledgeable team on hand to offer insight and advice, Blackwater Gallery has built a reputation that offers a rarely found combination in the art market. They are dedicated to championing the work of emerging artists and original artwork, while encouraging accessibility and transparency for new art collectors, enthusiasts, and artists alike.

Passionate about maintaining Blackwater’s independent focus, the artist led gallery is navigated by a team with years of experience across multiple facets of the art world, dedicated to providing a platform for bold, new, emerging artists and original artwork. Evidence of their passion shines through in Blackwater’s stunning schedule of exhibitions studded throughout the year. In 2022 alone, the gallery has hosted a powerful programme of debut solo shows, large scale group exhibitions, charity auctions, and exhibited the work of internationally acclaimed artists, with the gallery’s highly anticipated exhibition premiere evenings often becoming a sold out event.

At their core, the team are committed to discovering and supporting new and emerging artists. In 2021 the gallery launched the career of Makenzy Beard, a young artist who took to painting during lockdown. Since then Blackwater has provided invaluable guidance and support in driving Beard’s artistic career, navigating magazine interviews, tv reports, and international interest. In that time the work of Makenzy Beard has become highly acclaimed, sought after and quickly purchased by collectors worldwide. As part of the Gallery’s launch of Makenzy’s career, they recently opened the young artist’s first solo exhibition to global interest. With collectors now on an international scale, the exhibition provided an opportunity to showcase the incredible skill, development, and experience that Beard has accumulated in the last year.

Recently the gallery has sought to offer a platform for emerging artists committed to developing their practice. The exhibition, titled ‘objects’ provided a dedicated presence both in the gallery and online for emerging artists. Offering a fantastic opportunity for artists to exhibit their work in a professional capacity to the gallery’s list of clients, collectors, and art lovers. The gallery’s aim, to provide an opportunity for emerging creators to grow and take flight, finding their path as the next generation of groundbreaking artists.
