Poetry: Little Island by Liv Graves
The Little Island
by Liv Graves, aged 20
“I want to move away,” I said. “I want to breathe new air.”
So off I bobbed, Across the blue, In hope I’d find happiness there.
“The other side, at last!” I said. “There is so much within my reach.”
But across the blue An island cooed, In sadness and despair.
“I miss my little island,” I said. “I miss her an awful lot.”
The island heard this, And sent me a kiss, Then began preparing my spot.
“I’m coming back to be with you,” I said. “The place I truly belong.”
So back I bobbed, Across the blue And saw her there, standing strong.
“I’m so glad to see you again,” I said. “I missed you more than you know.”
“Well, wherever you truly belong,” She said. “It doesn’t take long to know so.”
