The following are basic guidelines to provide computer clubhouse members As a member you have many benefits but also you have some responsibilities. The three most important requests we will ask you are: 1. Read this document and understand your benefits and responsibilities. 2. Be respectful to everyone and everything 3. Do not be disruptive or loud. 4. Before doing anything that you may not be sure, ask the clubhouse manager for approval or guidance. When you join the computer clubhouse network, you agree to use it in a positive, constructive and or creative way. The clubhouse is a place where you can explore yours and others ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. We ask you to avoid: Chatting outside the clubhouse village website, watching videos or any other activity that is not productive or does not meet the guidelines of the clubhouse. JUST USE COMMON SENSE

YOUR SUPPORT Our expectation is that once you are in the clubhouse you will be able to work with the kids you are bringing in. Depending on the amount of children you are bringing they may need to be organized in groups and exposed to the multiple activities that the computer clubhouse can offer. Games are used as a reward after they follow the instructions we provide them with. Please use www.humanknowledge.org page for recommended steps you can follow to help your session.
The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment where young people work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. Using the "original" Clubhouse as a model, the Computer Clubhouse Network supports community-based Clubhouses around the world, providing thousands of youth with access to resources, skills, and experiences to help them succeed in their careers, contribute to their communities, and lead outstanding lives.
Who we are: The Computer Clubhouse was founded in 1993 by The Computer Museum (now part of the Museum of Science) in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab. The Clubhouse is there for its members - youth ages 8 to 18 from different communities in Boston and other neighborhoods. Members work closely with adult mentors: students and professionals in fields such as art, science, education or technology who share their experience and serve as role models.
Philosophy The Clubhouse is guided by four principles: • • •

The Clubhouse focuses on "constructionist" activities, encouraging young people to work as designers, inventors, and creators. The Clubhouse encourages youth to work on projects related to their own interests. The Clubhouse aims to create a sense of community, where young people work

together with one another with support and inspiration from adult mentors. The Clubhouse is dedicated to offering resources and opportunities to those who would not otherwise have access to them.
BASIC PROCEDURES When you come in to any clubhouse please follow these procedures. 1. SIGN IN when you come in to the computer clubhouse. 2. SELECT the computer you want to use and if required let the manager know what computer you will be using. 3. SIGN OUT once you have finished.
The Computer Clubhouse gives you the opportunity to become designers and creators--not just passive consumers--of technology. The Clubhouse provides the resources, materials, and tools for young people to develop projects in the following areas: When you visit the Clubhouse, you are able to choose among introductory exploration activities, including designing their own dream house, mixing their own digitized music, experimenting with image processing, and building a computer-controlled amusement park ride. As they continue their involvement in the Clubhouse program, participants begin to develop more in-depth projects, either individually or as part of a project team. The Clubhouse provides many youth with their first experience devoting themselves to the development of a project over a period of weeks or months.
USAGE Be sure you have in mind a project or a current project that you have been working on. PRIORITY Computer equipment is limited, if you are not using the computer in any project or creative activity, the manager may ask you to let another user take over your machine. Once a manager has requested you equipment you have 1 minute to comply. Equipment is assigned according to the following levels of priority. 1. Clubhouse projects and School homework 2. Projects from outside the clubhouse 3. Strategic Games or games allowed by managers 4. Other Programs
