Following the unique financial circumstances of 2020 associated with COVID-19, the board entered 2021 with a clear objective to refocus on the previously identified measures required to transition to a sustainable financial model following cessation of our commercial operations at Subiaco Oval. I am pleased to report that the financial results for 2021 represent a further step forward towards this goal. The positive financial outcome for the year would not have been possible without the proactive cost management and revenue generating measures carried out by key staff and endorsed by the board, resulting in: • Continued financial support from our key sponsors and other corporate partners; • Successful management of the Club’s football related spending; and • Income and capital benefits arising in respect of the Club’s financial investments. Notwithstanding the pleasing financial outcome for 2021 the board and Club management remain acutely aware that much work is still required to provide SFC with a sustainable financial future. Finally, I would like to thank my fellow finance committee members, Peter Capes, Basil Fuller and Debbie King for their efforts and support throughout the year. It would be remiss of me not to make special mention of Debbie, who is retiring this year. Debbie has provided me with professional, timely and always patient guidance throughout the period of more than ten years I have served as the Club’s treasurer/finance director. She has been a pleasure to work with and will be sorely missed. I wish all members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
