FINANCIAL ADVISERS TOWNSVILLE

Flinders St East, Townsville

Michael Hogue is a leading financial planner who over the past decade has assisted clients from across Australia achieve some remarkable financial goals. In 2010, Michael started his own business, Lighthouse Financial Advisers Townsville and was later joined by business partner Dallas Davison.

“Dallas is a former semi-professional bull rider from Hughenden and a lot of people in the western communities know and respect him.

Michael and Dallas are firm believers in word of mouth referrals based on proof of success, but they also understand the value of strategic marketing - particularly billboard advertising - in building their brand and reaching potential clients.

“We know how much people in those communities travel on the highway and we’ve been overwhelmed with the contact response from people who’ve seen the sign and who know or have heard of Dallas.

“We’ve had some outstanding success using billboards to stand out from the crowd, but also to target specific markets through the placement of our messaging,” Michael said. “A great example is the choice of one of our billboard locations at Calcium, west of Townville on the Flinders Highway.

we can put

Y . Eve w‫ ה‬.

“The billboard has been the single biggest asset for us in re-branding Dallas from a very good bull rider to an even better financial planner. “And while it’s been great for Dallas, it’s also improved our brand recognition and delivered new revenue far in excess of the cost of advertising,” Michael said.

“Yum!

Dal Santo’s Continental Deli

Stopped in for lunch today. Had sopresso melt and coffee - both excellent. So glad we saw sign on the highway or we might have missed it. Great food, service, ambience & value. Great place Was stock this review up helpful? to on goodies if you are travelling. Keep up the great work!

We saw a promotion deal while driving on the way to Airlie Beach and decided to check out. The hotel is nice, our room was on the ground floor so very handy for our language but we did not get the view. Afterwards we thought it was for the best cause the beach view also have the road and bars just below. The swimming pool is a bit salty and quite warm (not heated). Overall we had a nice experience, and you have 30% off while the happy hour in three different bars. Stayed January 2015, travelled with friends.

I saw the billboard as I approached Proserpine. Im saved. Finding good coffee is sometimes difficult when travelling. Whitsunday Gold really is a coffee oasis. The blend I had was smooth and went down a treat. The staff were all very friendly and enjoyed a joke. Added to this was the spinach and cheese muffin with a dollop of butter. Very Moreish. Ill be stopping in on my return south :o)

5 MINUTES WITH PROGRAM COORDINATOR

ELENI MILLIOS-HULLICK

Townsville Enterprise is the peak economic development and tourism organisation for Townsville North Queensland and works closely with the region’s leaders to ensure continued development. It recognises the need to have strong leadership into the future to continue this growth. The Emerging Leaders Program offers a platform for mentoring and development of potential future leaders, ensuing that need is met. The program offers a unique opportunity for the participants to enhance their critical skills, knowledge and aptitude required to become a leader, developing the pool of leadership talent to progress the Townsville North Queensland region.

THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR THREE YEARS NOW; TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT IT.

Aimed at emerging leaders across the region, the program provides valuable insights into what is required to be an effective leader. The objective is to expose emerging leaders to issues outside of their own sector, giving them a better understanding of the different facets that make communities work and, at times, what doesn’t work, by exploring a cross section of industries and issues. The program runs over 14 months and is broken into three components. This includes mentoring by business leaders which is quite unique, professional development modules and practical work that sees the participants create programs or initiatives that benefit not just themselves but the greater community. Participants learn from and work directly with a cross section of industry experts from different sectors of the economy such as health, defence and mining.

YOU MENTIONED THE PROGRAM INVOLVES ESTABLISHED COMMUNITY LEADERS. WHO ARE SOME OF THE MENTORS?

We have some of the city’s most influential leaders who have invested so much in the North and want to be sure the future is in good hands. To name just a handful from 30 we have Laurence Lancini, Pat Brady, Carolyn McManus, Peter Wheeler, Ray Burton, Ranee Crosby, Greg Peel, Daryl Holmes and Stephen Motti. All of the mentors offer a wealth of knowledge personally and professionally. It is so important that our future leaders are equipped with the tools to make a difference to this community and our current leaders can ‘pass the baton’ to the next generation with the confidence that Townsville North Queensland will continue to develop.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES THE PROGRAM SO VALUABLE?

I’ve been in business for most of my working life in Townsville and I would have loved the opportunity to do a program like this. It is unique in that it gives participants an insight into what’s happening in other important sectors of our city and region, the issues, opportunities and challenges that impact us, locally, nationally and globally. The participants are provided with direct access to high profile presenters and mentors with a proven track record of making a difference in their fields and communities.

84

/ Issue 18 | March/April 2015

HOW DO YOU SEE THE PROGRAM BEING OF BENEFIT TO THE TOWNSVILLE NORTH QUEENSLAND REGION?

I am really passionate about Townsville North Queensland so I’m happy to know the emerging leaders will be stepping up and becoming active and informed members of local community boards, groups and associations with a unique insight into the inner workings of the region. The program also ensures the best, brightest and motivated minds have the opportunity to progress their careers in Townsville North Queensland without having to look to the capital cities. Retaining skills and ambitious people is a highly valuable contribution to our economy.

TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE SUCCESS STORIES.

The most recent cohort saw some of the city’s most promising leaders deliver high quality projects that not only showcase their talents but also captured the attention of city leaders and politicians. The Strand Sunset Cinema is a stand out community project from the first cohort which saw thousands of people enjoy free entertainment. More recently we have seen the Cape Pallarenda Activation Project, Engaging An Elder and the Townsville Ambassador Program provide examples of how the collaboration of participants armed with a greater community knowledge can achieve great things. The program has also seen participants move into high level management and board positions. We’ve recently seen Patricia O’Callaghan, who graduated from the first cohort, appointed as Townsville Enterprise Chief Executive Officer and I’m positive we will see many more of our Emerging Leaders rise to similar positions and invest in the future of the North.
