Tell us a bit about your business? The HYPOXI brand is a global leader in innovative weight loss systems and is operated in over 32 countries worldwide and 85 Studios in Australia. HYPOXI is the brainchild of Dr Norbert Egger, an esteemed Austrian sport scientist. As a sport scientist, Egger knew that good circulation, exercise and a healthy lifestyle are critical to achieve weight loss in a specific area. With this knowledge in mind, he set about developing the revolutionary training concept that is HYPOXI.
Tell us a bit about your role? Since I’m still establishing the HYPOXI brand here in Townsville and have only been open for 10months a large proportion of my week is spent on marketing. I’m very hands on with every aspect of the business with my day starting well before my first clients arrive for their HYPOXI session at 6.30am A typical day includes putting clients in the machines, designing and updating programs, conducting free trials, measuring clients. The best part of my job is sharing my clients cm and weight loss journey, when a client tells me that they now fit into a favourite pair of shorts or dress they haven’t been able to do up…it just inspires me further and gives me such a buzz.

I’m not going to say that small business ownership is easy – it’s a challenge every day. I’m always learning something new, trying to stay a step ahead of the game and inspiring myself and clients to be the best they can be. But at the end of the day, I’m so passionate about HYPOXI and my business that it doesn’t feel like hard work at all.
Best piece of advice you have ever received? If you’re going to start your own business, be invested in it full time or not at all. Taking the risk to set up HYPOXI Body Studio Townsville was something that my whole family had to have a say in, and I’m so glad that I gave up my day job and put everything into building this brand in Townsville. Small business ownership is 24/7 and can be exhausting, demanding and all consuming – but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
