In a statement Wednesday, the Department of Tourism in the Caraga Region (DOT-13) said the seminars conducted on August 3 to 5 aim to “develop and expand the role of van drivers and their operators.” According to DOT13, public utility drivers are considered “front-liners and sources of tourism information to foreign and local tourists in the region,” which comprises the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur. Caraga Region has three accredited tourist land transport groups that operate vans and caters to the transportation needs of local and foreign tourists. The DOT13 said the activity also served as an awareness campaign for tourist van drivers and operators in the region, while enabling them to “learn and appreciate the nature and benefits of tourism.” DOT-13 Director Nelia Arina said more seminars will be scheduled as the activity also serves as a prerequisite for accreditation for land transport operators in the region. Aside from land transportation, the DOT-13 also reported the completion last month of tourism seminars

LANDBANK agri loans up 15.5% to P257.7B

Advertising and Editorial E-mail : businessweekmindanao@gmail.com Contact nos. : 0917-7121424 • 0947-8935776 FRI-SAT|AUGUST 12-13, 2022 3Banking & finance Diokno optimistic on PH economic growth F INANCE Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno remains optimistic that the government’s growth target of between 6.5 to 7.5 percent for this year will be achieved, noting the broad-based expansion in the second quarter of the year. Domestic growth, as measured by gross domestic product (GDP), rose by 7.4 percent from April to June this year, slower than the downwardly revised 8.2 percent in the previous quarter. It brought the first half expansion to 7.8 percent.“The Q2 (second quarter) growth reflects the increase in mobility, better labor conditions and government’s support to growth,” he told journalists in a Viber message on Tuesday. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Tuesday that transportation and storage had the highest shares in the second quarter output after it rose 27.1 percent year-on-year. It was trailed by construction, 19 percent; and wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles at 9.7 percent.Among the major economic sectors, services registered the highest contribution at 9.1 percent and was followed by industry, 6.3 percent; and agriculture, forestry, and fishing, 0.2 percent. In terms of demand, household final consumption expenditure expanded by 8.6 percent.Thegross capital formation posted an annual growth of 20.5 percent; imports of goods and services, 13.6 percent; government final consumption expenditure, 11.1 percent; and exports of goods and services, 4.3 percent.“Whilethere might be some slowdown in growth in the second half of the year, reflecting the downgrade in the outlook for the global economy, we still expect that the DBCC (Development Budget and Coordination Committee) growth target for 2022 will be achievable as we continue the ongoing infrastructure program, maintain macroeconomic stability and take advantage of the recently approved amendments to the PSA (Philippine Services Act), FIA (Foreign Investment Act), and RTLA (Retail Trade Liberalization Act) to foster investment-led recovery,” Diokno said. He said the domestic economy needs to expand by at least 5.2 percent in the second half of the year to hit the lower end of the full-year target band, and by 7.6 percent to achieve the upper-end of the target. “Both targets are doable,” he added. (PNA)

Of the total outstanding loans, P163.1 billion was allocated to small, medium, and large agribusiness enterprises.Atotalof P57 billion went to agri-aqua related projects of local government units and government-owned and -controlled corporations. The remaining P37.5 billion was distributed to small farmers and fishers, including those channeled through cooperatives, farmers’ associations, and rural financial institutions. The loans were used to finance livestock, crops and fisheries production and agri-processing and trading of rice, corn, and sugarcane, among others. It also funded the construction and improvement of agriculture infrastructure, including public markets, farm-tomarket roads, warehouses, cold storages, irrigation systems, and slaughterhouses. Homework : Ensuring Students’ Understanding in Class Ruth Colegio Moreno District ALS Coordinator Balingasag Central District DepEd Misamis Oriental Homework is an after-school obligation that no one bargained for or requested. It is simply the extra work that every student must complete after school on a daily basis. Children in first grade are known to spend at least 10 minutes per day on their homework; those in high school (particularly seniors) are known to spend at least two hours per night on their homework. This is not conclusive; depending on the school, teacher, and students' abilities, the amount of time spent could be greater or lesser. However, students should have no more than ten minutes of homework per night and no more than fifty minutes per term. While this is not a legally binding or absolute recommendation, it does serve as a conceptual guide for teachers and tutors alike. Spending this much time on homework after a long day at school is not enjoyable for students of any age or class. No student enjoys doing homework, especially when it has become a daily routine and the homework score is now calculated as part of their overall term score. The age-old question of whether homework can lead to or cause depression is addressed in this article, which aims to explain "if" and "how" too much homework can lead to Accordingdepression.to studies, the more time students spend on homework, the less time they have to meet their developmental needs or learn other important life skills. While concentrating on their homework, students are more likely to neglect other activities such as hobbies, seeing friends and family, and engaging in meaningful and heartfelt conversations with others. Homework consumes all of one's attention and spare time. It eventually leads to students' social reclusiveness, which has an impact on their mental and emotional balance. As a matter of fact, as beneficial as homework is to students' academic development, an additional two hours spent on homework after spending approximately eight hours in school is excessive and may result in a massive mental breakdown. Even though research has shown that homework can lead to depression, the fact remains that homework is the only way to ensure that students fully understand what they learned in class.

LAND BANK of the Philippines (LANDBANK) reported that its loans to the agriculture sector climbed to P257.7 billion as of endJune, or a 15.5% increase from the same period in the previous year. “LANDBANK stands ready to extend accessible credit to all agri players to boost the country’s food production and supply. We will continue ramping up our lending activities in full support of the new administration’s BorromeoChiefLANDBANKmodernizationagriculturalagenda,”PresidentandExecutiveCeciliaC.saidinastatement.

Following the Right Map

Think a minute . . . Have you ever been lost? If you travel to another country for the first time, getting lost can be frustrating and discouraging. Imagine you have just arrived in London, England and want to go to a certain place in that great city. A map of London would show you how to get there. But what if you had the wrong map? What if your map read London, but it was actually a map of Tokyo, Japan! Imagine your total frustration and futility in trying to get where you want to go in London, when all the time you’re following the map of Tokyo! You could work on your driving skills and concentration. Try harder and drive faster. But that would only take you to the wrong place faster. You might even change your attitude and think more positively. But you would still be lost. Being polite and kind to other drivers and pedestrians along the way would not get you there either. None of these things you do can change the fact that you’re following the wrong map. That’s the frustrating situation we all face in life. We keep looking for success, satisfaction, and love in all the wrong places—because we don’t have the right map. We keep going down dead-end roads that lead us nowhere. We waste much of our life getting lost and making painful mistakes that cost us much—because we do not know how to get where we want to go. But the saddest thing of all is that the right map has been right in front of us all the time. We simply refused to use it. In fact, the Maker of the right map also came as our personal guide to show us what we’re

WHEN US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called China’s military drills around Taiwan “significant escalation” he apparently forgets that in fact the US media speculated on worse scenarios, such as Pelosi’s plane being forced down on some airfield before reaching Taiwan. Some Western media even cheered on China to do it.

China staged a calibrated series of actions aimed at delivering an unmistakable message to the US that things will no longer be the same if, when and after Nancy Pelosi landed in Taipei. China’s four-day military drills simulating a blockade of Taiwan made sure Washington now clearly understands the message loud and clear. We need to flashback on a similar situation in 1995 when China, alarmed at a provocative invitation from Cornell University for Taiwan leader Lee Teng-hui to speak on “Taiwan Democratization Experience”. Although the US State Department then opposed the Lee visit, the US Congress, then as now, forcibly allowed Lee to visit.China, then as now, conducted protest military drills with accompanying missile test firings. The US in response staged the largest display of American military might in Asia since the Vietnam war with the USS Belleau Wood followed by the USS O’Brien and USS McClusky, and finally USS Nimitz transiting the Taiwan Strait from July on to December 1995. ‘Winning the battle without fighting’ This time around China’s military exercises positioned all around Taiwan effectively blockading the Taiwan island and cutting off civilian sea and air traffic in and out of Taiwan for the duration of the four-day military exercises, and firing off a dozen missiles as of this writing, some crossing over Taiwan island and some splashing down in Japan’s EEZ to the consternation of the US vassal.China’s final message in this aspect to both the US and the young, belligerent voters of Taiwan, the US can no longer sail its sea forces across the Taiwan Strait when China closes it, hence US security commitments are worthless. On top of that, China also banned up to 2,000 exports of Taiwan to China to remind the misguided pro-Independence groups that Taiwan prosperity depends on the PROC. After 27-years China has finally won the battle for the Taiwan Strait, achieving control over it against the US in what can be deemed a fulfillment of Sun Tzu’s “Winning the war without fighting” forcing the US now to seek de-escalation and resumption of dialogue and cooperation. This is a victory for the world, preventing further escalation of the US warmongering in the region. Sans outside intrusion, peacefulinevitablereunification Every nation seeks territorial integrity and national unity. Only the small DPP clique sustained by the US arms sales graft and distortion of history inculcated by media and the educational system (like Hong Kong) breeds a base among the youth. China buys over 40 percent of Taiwan’s export each year and growing. Sans external meddling this destines, over time, peaceful reintegration of Taiwan with China. The Western Powers led by the US have for centuries sought to contain China, abort its rise and spearheading of Asia’s rise. Taiwan and other islands around its southern belly have been key containment points. The US attacked Taiwan in 1867, the US supported Japan’s invasion of Taiwan in 1874, sold weapons to Japan in the 1st Sino-Japanese that forced China to cede Taiwan to Japan.Ithas only been 73 years from China’s 1949 Revolution to this day, China has risen from one of the poorest, backward nation to the world’s top economy, at par overall in military power with the main powers, at the cutting edge in many fields of technology, and most importantly leading the world to a harmonious “Community of Shared Future for Mankind” – the alternative to the West’s “forever wars”. The Pelosi charade allowed China to assert its ascendance, then it upped the ante cutting off military dialogue talks, cooperation on climate change and direct sanctions on Speaker Nancy Pelosi and family highlighting the transgressions and lies from the non-existent Tiananmen Square massacre, Hong Kong HR violations and Xinjiang “genocide” which UNCHR chief Michelle Bachelet recentlyWithdebunked.thelatest diplomatic and geopolitical shock moves emanating from the Pelosi-Taiwan Straits crisis came the opportunity for China to turn the tables on the US. Now it is the US seeking “deescalation” of China’s crescendo of punitive diplomatic, economic and political measures against the US. China will now always negotiate with the US from a firm position of strength. Asia, world safer: Philippines, China, US The Philippines has been used by the US for many decades as a cohort to US imperialist wars in Asia from the Korean to the Vietnam Wars. President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Sr. gradually broke the dependency relations with the US culminating in the opening up the socialist states and the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China in 1975.Eleven years passed after the PH-China entente, the US ousted Marcos Sr. in a 1986 “regime change”. The return with Cory Aquino to neo-colonial status survived 30 years until 2016 when the Filipino nation voted President Rodrigo R. Duterte who ‘forever wars’ ends with Pelosi-Tsai stunt

within ourselves and among ourselves, not to mention the tension among the different dimensions and aspects of our earthly life— the material and the spiritual, the natural and the supernatural, the temporal and the eternal, etc. We have to learn how to be cool with this condition in our life, and avoid falling into unnecessary stress and worries. This is part of the territory. We can handle it perfectly well. We just have to have the right attitudes and skills. But we cannot deny that we have to make sacrifices if we want to reap some fruits of sanctity and apostolate in our life. Self-denial is necessary since we often put ourselves in conflict with God’s will and ways. We prefer to do our own will. Let’s do everything to develop this habit, if not, an instinct of abid ing self-denial so that our mind and heart can only be open to the will and ways of God that often are shown to us through the needs of theThisothers.habit of selfdenial would enable us to do God’s work while being easily flexible and adaptive to the varying challenges and circum stances of the times. We have to be wary of our tendency to be trapped into some closed sys tem of routine, if not to be imprisoned in our comfort-zone.Self-denialwill obvi ously involve certain de tachment from things. That is why we should intensify our union with Christ as we immerse ourselves in the things of this world. We can do that if we know how to pray always, convert ing everything into a form of prayer, a form of engaging ourselves withForGod.this, we certainly need to train ourselves and to acquire a cer tain discipline, so that our union with Christ would be kept alive. We have to realize that our life is supposed to be always a life with Christ and for Christ. Only then can we learn how to bear all things to achieve the fruitfulness of Christ who gained our salva tion through his pas sion, death and resur rection. The paradox of dying in order to be fruitful would become a reality in our life. In this regard, we have to meditate well on the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. It’s there where we are given a clear idea of how to suffer and die to ourselves so that, like Christ, we too can resurrect with him. We have to learn how to assume the same mo tives that Christ had in going through his pas sion and death. It’s when we have the very mind and spirit of Christ as he faced his final act of love for us in obedience to the Father’s will that we can manage to face our suffering and death without fear—and have the fruitfulness of life.

The COVID-19 pandemic has and will continue to have an impact on how information and skills are taught at all educational levels. Some children and adults will find it difficult to adjust to the new modalities, even though many will probably make up for the disruption of the traditional educational offerings. Our ancestors have always emphasized the significance of education in one's life, regardless of how dreadful one's circumstances in life are. There is an old saying that goes, "Education is the only inheritance which nobody can take away from you." It is valued highly in our nation as a way to improve one's quality of life. The gap between those whose families can afford the teaching and supervision of education required for inhome schooling but lack the time and skills necessary to do so is growing for those whose families cannot absorb it. The COVID-19 epidemic school closures will have the greatest impact on individuals who are already at a disadvantage due to socioeconomic class, language, and special needs, and they will have the most difficulty adjusting. The best available public policy tool to increase skills is education. While attending school can be enjoyable and can help children develop their social skills and social awareness, from an economic perspective, the main benefit of attending school is that it improves a child's aptitude. This can be accomplished with even a relatively brief period of attendance, and even a relatively brief absence from school will have an impact on skill families.lackeducatethetoeffects,haveClosingthedevelopingnoschoolsdueconverteducatorsTeachersdevelopment.andotherhadtoquicklytoblendedclassestotheabruptclosureofbecausetherewereestablishedcriteriaforanddeliveringmixedcurriculum.schoolsmayalsoanumberofunfavorableincludingdisruptionslearning,socialisolation,inabilityofparentstotheirchildren,andaofchildcareforworking

One of the skills in English subject that leaners need to develop is identifying Cause and Effect Relationships of a problem or situation. Fishbone diagram strategy is one of the teaching strategies that considered as differentiated instructions in teaching learning process. It is a visual illustration that clearly shows the relationship between the topic and the various factors related to it. The shape of the diagram looks like the skeleton of a fish. The bones of the fish represent factors that have been combined together to form categories. The categories, in turn, come together to form the topic depicted in the head of the diagram. There are two differentiated activities in fishbone diagram strategy. First, the “Who am I activity”. In this activity teacher will explain that purpose of the activity is to synthesize various factors into categories that make up a topic. Next, divide the class into small groups and present each group the categories for the factors related to the topic. Then, each group will create fishbone diagram using list of the factors. Finally, present the model and feed backing. Second activity is “Fish Bone Diagram Clock Activity”. In diagram clock activity, each handout contains different fishbone diagram with all parts labelled except for the head of the fish. Their goal is to determine the head of the fishbone diagram and provide feedbacks. When utilizing team approach to problem solving or situation there are often many questions and opinions in relation to root cause. So, one way to capture these different ideas and simulates the teams brainstorming on root cause analysis is the cause and effect diagram commonly a fishbone diagram. Then, when pupils visually display the potential causes for specific problem or effect the cooperative learning may involve. Students, teachers, and parents have all faced numerous difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are now learning about the broad effects on pupils as a result of schools being stopped, physically isolating restrictions, and other unanticipated changes to their life. Children who already manage mental health conditions have been particularly vulnerable to the adjustments. Particularly during times of crisis, a comprehensive approach to education that takes into account kids' learning, social, and emotional needs is essential. Due to school closures brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, kids from various backgrounds who are more vulnerable may not receive the assistance and additional resources they require, and the gap between those students who face additional challenges and those who do not may deepen. Closures can also have a significant impact on students' emotions of self-worth and belonging in their schools, both of which are essential for inclusion in education. In addition to having a significant effect on people's health, the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is also changing how individuals learn, work, and live. One of the most significant issues raised by COVID-19 is how to modify an educational system based on conventional schools. All pupils are adversely affected by school closures, but the most vulnerable ones are more likely to have additional difficulties. Children and youth from low-income and single-parent families suffer from being denied access to the social and emotional support that is offered in schools, as well as physical learning possibilities. With the school doors locked, they run the risk of falling further behind and becoming isolated. If nations don't do enough to encourage educational fairness and inclusion, these pupils stand to lose the most in terms of educational outcomes and school assistance.

the project's second phase intends to introduce the underground cable system, in which an existing infrastructure was already installed under the Misamis Oriental Telephone System Inc. (Misortel). Buenavista said the task force will seek approval from Misortel on August 12 for the utilization of the underground cabling facility and hoped for its official launching in the transfer of cables and wires by the end of 2022. “There is no need to worry about floodwater (destroying the cables) because we will be using the highest grade materials which were used in large undersea networks crossing between countries,” he said, responding to concerns raised about the city's flood-prone areas. Buenavista said there will be minimal digging for expanded infrastructure installation because modern boring equipment will be used. “I would also bring this up to RDC (Regional Development Council-10) and the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways-10) that whenever there are infrastructure projects, the designs should include an underground cable line ready to be installed,” he said. Rene Guinguing, former Misortel manager now assigned to the Misamis Oriental Environmental and Natural Resources Office, said Misortel's underground facility created in 1991 remains in good condition and capable of modern upgrades. “Its first phase cost at the time was P168 million, the second phase was P260 million for the expansion,” Guinguing said, adding that back then, the underground lines used “jelly-filled” cables for the analog telephone system. With the modernization plan, Buenavista said Misortel can be upgraded to become a value-added service provider once transformed into a fiber-cable-based internet provider with the help of the Department of Information and Communications Technology. administration, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), has repeatedly announced that the Philippines remains committed to the One China policy and urges restraint by all parties concerned. A former Armed Forces chief, retired General Alexander Yano, said he is of the belief that the Philippine government is ready for any contingency in the event an armed conflict breaks out in Taiwan. The safety of more than a hundred thousand Filipinos there is of course the primary concern and measures for their repatriation must be in place, should it be necessary, Yano said.He said talks about Philippine involvement should there be armed conflict in Taiwan “should, in my view, be managed.”Yanosaid the country’s defense pact is with the United States and that “an armed attack on the US, including on its military personnel and assets, in the Pacific will of course trigger Philippine obligations under the Mutual Defense Treaty.” Yano, however, pointed out that the treaty should not be understood as obligating the Philippines to be involved in every conflict entered by the US.The Philippines must be more vigilant and circumspect, given that it has a treaty-alliance with the US, said Austin Ong, geopolitical analyst of thinktank Integrated Development Studies Institute (IDSI). An escalation of the tension in Taiwan can also lead to a domino effect that may drag neighboring countries into the conflict, Ong said. Ong said Pelosi’s Taiwan visit is a clear provocation and risks creating greater instability in the US and China relations. The provocation has already forced China to respond with expanded military drills around Taiwan and banned several TaiwanYanoproducts.saidheis of the belief that the two countries, the US

Dakong tabang pud sa akoa ang online selling kay dha ko naka income nga makapalit me sa among panginahanglanon,” she said. Apart from online sellers, a worker from a local shop here that also sells products through Facebook live, also expressed concern about the recent announcement of Facebook. Jehaziel Jane Florano, a customer service representative of a local clothing shop here, said she is worried about the possibility of losing her job as the removal of live selling could probably affect the sales of their shop. “Gabalaka ko kay basin mugamay among sales ug basin magtang-tang og trabahante,” Florano said. She couldn’t provide an estimated amount, however, Florano said that their sales from live selling are better compared to their sales in their physical store situated at one of the malls in this city.“Mas dako gyud ang sa online kay mas dako man gyud ang scope.
