Freedom of speech ‘very much alive’ in PH Palace stitution,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a Palace Cruz-Angelesbriefing.made the statement after a Palace reporter asked her “how much of a concern is dis information to the Marcos administration.”Thereporterraised the question, noting that some critics purportedly believed that the supposed disin formation helped “boost” the presidential campaign of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who enjoyed a landslide win in the May 9, 2022 elections. Responding to the query, Cruz-Angeles said: “People can say that. People can talk about it. They can discuss these matters. But no such wrongdoing has been com mitted.”Cruz-Angeles added that a complaint may be filed before the proper courts if there is a commission of an “illegal act.” “If any illegal acts have been committed, the proper venue for that would be the courts. So, that’s our only reaction here,” she said. Marcos won the May 9 presidential race by a landslide 31,629,783 votes, or more than 15 million votes ahead of second placer presidential candidate Ma ria Leonor “Leni” Robredo. During the presidential campaign, Marcos stuck to his call for Filipinos to unite, saying unity is the key to the country’s recov ery from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.Marcos, in his first State of the Nation Address de livered on July 25, bared his administration’s foreign policy, as well as plans for economic revitalization and development of the agri culture, agrarian, health, education, infrastructure and energy sectors. Marcos also discussed his government’s initiatives to defeat Covid-19, fight climate change, and protect the welfare of the overseas Filipino workers. ( PNA )

ROCKINGHAM , North Carolina—As a registered Republican I don’t agree with US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, on a lot of political issues but the US-China-Taiwan tension is an exception. When Pelosi visited Tai wan despite the objections of China last week I found myself lending support to her stance. That’s my kind of politician, someone who wouldn’t kowtow to China despite their growing politi cal, economic and military presence in the world stage. And we haven’t seen the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict by a long shot. Remember, China warned Pelosi and her del egation from visiting Taiwan as it would strain already fragile relations between them and the US. Such a warning is to be frank quite ridiculous as the US is no mere puppet for China to pull their strings whenever it pleases them. And the Biden administration shows no signs of backing down so far.Pelosi’s visit was no sightseeing trip but one focused on mutual security, economic partnership and democratic governance— something which China, despite being capitalist in its economic governance, remains hard core commu nist in its Maoist ideology. And that’s something that the Philippines for all its rough and tumble descent back into the early years of the Marcos rule had yet to China’s posturing in row with US fallWhetherinto. that’s a good or bad thing for the country depends heavily on which side of the divisive politi cal fence the Filipinos are in. One thing I know for certain and I’m certainly no geopolitical expert is that China is not a favorite among Filipinos despite the six year rule of former president Rodrigo Duterte and the efforts of President Bongbong Marcos to retain normal diplomatic ties with along with fellow Filipinos on the developing tension between the nations. The US government at this point can ill afford to enter into a conflict with China as it struggles to revive its economy already battered by both the ongoing CO VID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Again, it’s just China repeating its claim of own ership of Taiwan to the whole world but even its government knows that the rest of the countries across the globe maintain some sort of diplomatic channels with what they consider to be a renegade province. And diplomatic niceties aside, Taiwan is doing quite nicely on their own without interference from Communist China. Filipinos shouldn’t be afraid to speak out against China specifically against its communist government which has expansionist de signs in Asia beyond re claiming Taiwan. Sure we have diplomatic ties but I’d like to believe that unlike the stifled political climate in Beijing we Filipinos still have enough freedom in our country to speak our minds on issues we consider relevant to us as a to the US.

REFUSAL and compas sion characterize society’s attitude as regards social weaklings and handicapped people. It’s a topic which one gladly drives out, represses or tries to forget. I have written about this topic many times, although I have missed more about it. Even in different groups, some segments of society are distant from them. The socially discriminated and handicapped people don’t correspond to performance, work, capacity, stress and competition in our daily surroundings. Opinions like these - well, that’s how people do it! The anti-social slum inhabitant has not accepted his responsibility, and the anti-social confidence trick ster, certainly not blind and without having difficulty in walking, doesn’t believe in us. That’s it! Finished! The “bobo”, the alcoholic, the without means “gentle man of the road” - so what! Did everybody not choose his own living conditions? In plain words: the ideals of success, ability, efficiency, and competitiveness in our performance-oriented so ciety and its business life describe such fringe groups as “standard violators”, such as in failure, flop or slacker. But remember: tax evasion or corruption is more costly than a social welfare client. Do you have a social weakness or handicapped people in your surroundings - in your company? Mostly, these persons appear as a monotonous mass through the glasses of prejudices. HowHonestly, painful!but true: hin drance and handicap drive people into poverty many times. Prevailing opinion is that poverty is going for a fault. The affected people draw back themselves with a sensible sense of shame. And, have you given notice already: most handicapped people feel isolated in their surroundings. Meeting such people sometimes becomes even a bashful situation, while giving the appearance of normality. In my opinion: this must not Sometimeshappen!wetry to avoid any communication, because we might say some thing wrong. Then - just put a smile on your face, as I often did. I really plead for more integration. Let’s give “such people” autonomy and acceptance starting in school or kindergarten. Let’s increase more livable offers for organizations. Social weaklings and handicapped people don’t hinder, hamper or prevent us from living in a society with a philanthro pist face. We are all human beings. Here’s my theory: Ev eryone wakes up in a good mood. It’s people and society that changes+++it. Teaching our students and children specific concepts can often be difficult and frustrating, especially when the ideas or information is new and unfamiliar to them. Often times, introducing new content or new concepts can be overwhelming for students and teachers alike. Students will preview the new content or concepts for things that they can relate to. They seek out information that looks familiar to them, things they don’t quite understand, and things that look interest ing to them, including new vocabulary.Ourstudents can be some of the toughest viewers and critics. If we present new information to our students like the above scenario, stating “today we are going to learn about…” their attention van ishes and their minds begin to wonder if we are worth listeningWhileto.teachers aren’t trained movie producers, we can still use some tricks and strategies to grab our students’ attention and get them excited about the new information they are about to learn. With the advancement in technology and overall growth, there has been a constant dire need for improv ing the quality of education. The quality is measured on student learning outcomes. This is the reason why we come across such important notions like improving and strengthen learning process and outcomes for students. Sometimes students do not pay attention during the lec tures. It is because of tradi tional teaching methods, lack of learning activities, disen gagement, poor interaction and lack of communication. Teachers should understand students’ interest and the need for effective learning. It is important to figure out what kind of activities they might be interested in learning.

One of the skills in English subject that leaners need to develop is identifying Cause and Effect Relationships of a problem or situation. Fish bone diagram strategy is one of the teaching strategies that considered as differenti ated instructions in teaching learning process. It is a visual illustration that clearly shows the relationship between the topic and the various factors related to it. The shape of the diagram looks like the skeleton of a fish. The bones of the fish represent factors that have been combined together to form categories. The categories, in turn, come together to form the topic depicted in the head of the diagram. There are two differenti ated activities in fishbone diagram strategy. First, the “Who am I activity”. In this activity teacher will explain that purpose of the activity is to synthesize various factors into categories that make up a topic. Next, divide the class into small groups and present each group the categories for the factors related to the topic. Then, each group will create fishbone diagram using list of the factors. Finally, present the model and feed backing. Second activity is “Fish Bone Diagram Clock Activity”. Persons with disabilities often face societal barriers and disability evokes negative perceptions and discrimina tion in many societies. As a result of the stigma associ ated with disability, persons with disabilities are generally excluded from education, employment and community life which deprives them of opportunities essential to their social development, health and well-being. In some societies persons with disabilities are considered dependent and seen as inca pable, thus fostering inactivity which often causes individuals with physical disabilities to experience restricted mobil ity beyond the cause of their disability.Sportcan help reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with disability because it can transforms community attitudes about persons with disabilities by highlighting their skills and reducing the tendency to see the disability instead of the person. Professional development is the process of acquiring the skills necessary to further one’s career. The essential function that professional development plays in enhanc ing student learning is what gives it its ultimate worth. This means that educators need to show interest in how profes sional development affects work output, organizational effectiveness, and overall stu dent performance. A carefully thought-out assessment plan should be connected to each professional development activity to determine how effective it is. With this, the Educational Technology Unit of the In formation and Communi cations Technology Service is presently conducting the Televised Virtual In-Service Training Program for Teachers (VINSET 3.0) from August 8-11, 2022, with the theme “Uniting Teachers Towards Digital Transformation and Excellence,” in accordance with the mission and vision of the Department of Education to instill and educate young minds with world-class skill sets. Through the regional cable partners of DepEd TV, the recorded session will be broadcast at a later time. In order to prepare teach ers (public and private) for the face-to-face classes using various ICT and digital learn ing tools, the activities are designed to impart the most recent technical innovations in education. Additionally, the topics are carefully chosen to guarantee that teachers receive the necessary upskilling for efficient use in their indi vidual classes in any setting. The Continuing Professional Development Council for Professional Teachers ac credited the VINSET 3.0 with the accreditation PTR-2022-366-1899.numberTheDepartmentofEducationLearningManagementSystemisthefirsttopicofthesaidonlinetrainingofwhichcurrentlyusedbyDepEdinitsimplementationforitsnationwideactivities,suchastrainingsandasynchronousseminars.OtherimportantdiscussionsincludeH5Ptechnologies,Aklatech3.0BookoftheFuture,AdvancedGoogleTools,MinecraftforEducationEdition,ARandVRTechnologiesandAndroidApplicationDevelopment.Lastly,withtheAndroidApplicationDevelopment,youwillbeabletocreateanapplicationthathaseasy-to-useandpersonalizedapplicationsmakingeveryteachinglearningmeaningfulandinteractive.***

standing different points of view, not to convince or push one particular position. The facilitator encourages reflec tion and critical analysis of the participants’ perspectives. The most crucial teaching and learning tool we have is the conversations we have with our pupils. Your knowl edge of how you engage with others through language will determine whether or not pupils in your class think and learn through discussion. Through dialogue, teachers can hear what kids have to say (which may be deeply held or transient). Students have the chance to hear and take into account fresh ideas, opinions, and questions dur ing dialogue. Learning about a subject develops as novel concepts are proposed, con tested, and considered. It offers an opportunity to grow one’s capacity for reflection and curiosity about other people’s viewpoints. Students discover that having conversations like these with others might aid in their ability to comprehend and analyze situations.

local political figures have their say on the US-ChinaTaiwan feud and I may find time to air their thoughts on this issue. But allow me to digress as I am reminded of that little argument former president Donald Trump had with US mainstream media concerning his de scription of the COVID-19 virus as ‘Wuhan virus’ owing to reports that are verified that the virus came from Wuhan, China. Some US reporters ques tioned why Trump preferred to link China to the virus even if they claimed that the reports still don’t provide conclusive evidence of Chi nese involvement. To which Trump nonchalantly replied ‘the virus came from China’ and proceeded to chide the reporters for questioning his choice of words. Whatever you can say about Trump, at least he did point out the obvious.Theobvious fact being that China is being exempt ed from accountability on their role in the pandemic by some sympathetic, leftleaning US media outlets. Heck, even liberal American talk show hosts like Jon Stewart pointed to China’s role in the pandemic. And now China is posturing anew on the world stage as if their Spratlys bullying isn’t enough to stomach. Bida !

Plan... from page 1 Transition Authority (BTA). Under Article 16 of the BOL, Section 2 – Bangsam oro Transition Authority. – There is hereby created a Bangsamoro Transition Authority which shall be the interim government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region during the transition period. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front shall lead the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, without prejudice to the participation of the Moro National Liberation Front in its membership The Office of the Presi dential Adviser on Peace Process (under the Duterte administration) interpreted this provision to have 41 seats from the MILF, and 39 seats under the govern ment-side.Thetransition period was supposed to end June 30, 2022. However, the BOL under RA 11054 as amended by RA 11593 has extended its transition to 2025.These agreements and laws we have should act as a roadmap for the broader peace process allowing the communities that were once affected by conflict to build trust and confidence with the government and the families of former combat ants. The overall goal is for both parties to help to create institutional environments in which those involved in conflict can pursue their objectives and be part of agent of peace and develop ment. Some people think that peace agreements are silver bullets that solve all societal problems. They do not. They contain rather than solve the conflict by creating spaces to continue disagreement through po litical means, like debates in the parliament or in an electoral process. If peace agreements like the CAB is vital in estab lishing peace and security in Mindanao, what then is the move of the current administration? What are the concrete platforms of the President Bong Bong Marcos Jr. in the BARMM? PBBM should start first with having the right people in the Bangsamoro Transi tion Authority. There will be challenges. He may take an easier formula in setting up the BTA by having the MILF — Murad led and so-called MILF — Salamat Wing, combined it with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) – Misuari, MNLF – Sema group, and the Family Alliance.

HAVING music inclination is a gift that only few of us is endowed with innately. It is a costly gift when pursued but rewards expensively when passion meets luck. But what if the artist is at a crossroad of early adulting and fam ily life? A lot of artists fell into hibernation, stagnating their artistic abilities and eventually trading them for a regular life just so they can raise their family.

Creating Music Talents and More

THE MAN BEHIND ALTRECHA MUSIC STUDIO: But not this 26-year old dreamer and doer, John Carl Altrecha. or JC Altrecha, as he is better known, who hails from Cagayan de Oro City, manages to do both -raising a family and making money out of his musical pleasures. He does not only manages but thrives in it. Not so long ago, JC was a member of a local alterna tive band called The Janns. Their band was born out of their usual jamming with other local artists, such as the late great Dave Alba,Yuri Bacabis in many gigs within and outside the city. They have even landed a spot at the coveted Wish 101 tour bus! (Trivia: he composed their song). These all trans pired while he was a student and a scholar of Rondalla Club at Pilgrim Christian College. Inspired to gradu ate with a music degree, he continued his studies in music at Liceo de sic)University(CollegeCagayanOfMutakingupBachelorof Music major in Violin until pandemic hit. He halted his studies but plans on continuing soon. Now that JC has a fam ily of his own, he needs to do more than that without compromising his gigs. Just like the old times, where it all started, JC continues to accept wedding gigs (as a violinist and guitarist) and other event gigs. It was really the fam ily life that turned his life around gearing to the path of entrepreneurship. And so, Altrecha Music Studio and Tutorial Center was born. The studio offers the following lessons: guitar, ukulele, violin, piano, drum, and voice. A typical lesson consists of 15 sessions, one hour per session. This can be scheduled once a week or five times a week, depend ing on the student’s time and preferability. While most of the offered lessons is JC’s forte, he employs experienced instructors to help him do the job well. JC himself owns, man ages, and teaches some of the students. Do you think that’s too much of a job and a talent for one? Well, he is even more! He is also a lu thier. Yes! He repairs various musical instruments such as guitars, organs, keyboards, andPrettyamplifiers.soon, he’ll be
