Why should science be taught in our schools? Every day, technology and scien tific advancements are all around us. Scientific data is used to inform public policy decisions that have an impact on every part of our life. Naturally, the incredibly complex natural world that surrounds us also serves as an illustration for a vast array of scientific ideas. Children nowadays must be scientifically edu cated if they are to prosper in a world that is becoming more technologically and scientifically advanced. The program, which adopts a constructivist and team-based methodology, aims to provide students with two essential types of skills: working scientifically and designing and making. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on having students start with their own ideas and learn through interact ing with objects, resources, and their peers. Children learn about scientific ideas while “creating” new infor mation. By investigating and evaluating common items in terms of their function ing, component materials, and design, designers and makers can find workable answers to challenges. With this knowledge, they can then plan, build, create, and test models or artifacts. These exercises are designed to encourage and develop children’s imaginative and creative abilities. Due to its importance in students’ lives and the widely useful problem-solving and critical thinking abilities it fosters, science is one of the most significant disciplines in the classroom. These are lifelong abilities that en able pupils to come up with ideas, make wise decisions, and even comprehend the supporting data for public policy. Students are given the knowledge and abilities they need to excel in school and beyond by being taught technological literacy, criti cal thinking, and problemsolving through science education.

DO you live for some thing? Do live for some thing! Admittedly, this sounds like a very easy request. Already, Thomas Chalmers (1780-1847), es tablishment and founder of the Scottish Free Church, treated that topic with plenty flowering words. Innumerable human be ings live, move and have to pass away - free from worries but unknown and unnoticed. Incomprehen sible and inscrutable: no line written and no word talk by themselves are still in the memories of their bereaved. Their gleams of light switched out in night’s darkness. Not every individual can have a beautiful life in which he/she can live successfully. But to live, to love, and to laugh can make this possible. * L I V E * As the saying goes, “Live life to the fullest!” Always live each day as if it were your last. Enjoy every moment of your life and have everything you wish.Who do people like to live like this? Still in my mind is the one question of Brother Francis Castro of the Little Brothers of Jesus about the “burning flame inside him that makes him jump out of the bed ... and hurry to work...”. As I journey through life’s pathways, one of the most important lessons I have learned is that life is filled with seasons and contrasts. Life is indeed an interplay of light and darkness. So, let’s live for something!Kindness, hospitality, helpfulness, obligingness, ready to do favors - and your moment of virtue will not be destroyed by time’s storm. Love and mercifulness from the bottom of your heart are shared with people who will cross your pathways, and nobody will forget you. In our daily life, we have plenty of situations where we could show our real calling.

WE cannot overemphasize the importance of this concern. We have to do our best to see to it that we always have purity of intention in everything that we do, so that we only love and serve God, and because of that, we can properly love and serve everybody else. This concern was some how referred to in that gos pel episode where Christ lamented over the hypoc risy and inconsistency of the leading Jews at that time. (cfr. Mt 23,13-22) “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You lock the Kingdom of heaven before men. You do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow entrance to those trying to enter,” he Whensaid. our intentions are not pure, when they are contaminated with some ulterior motives, there is no way but for us to fall into some form of inconsistencies and improper priorities. We should be very care ful with our intentions. Since they are hidden, we can easily play around with them. We can appear good outside but bad inside. Our deeds may be considered as acts of generosity and compassion, but the in

The battle for purity of intention tentions may be those of envy, conceit and the like. In determining the morality of our human acts, the intention plays a very crucial role. To gether with the matter or object, and the circum stances surrounding our acts, our intention can referee whether they are good or bad. With our intention, we can direct our acts to God, following what was once indicated by St. Paul, “Whether you eat or drink, or whatsoever else you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Cor 10,31) That’s how our acts become good, or moral. Otherwise, they are bad, or at least dangerous. This is so, since God, being the Creator, is the standard for everything. And more than the stan dard, he is, in fact, the very substance of what is good, true and beautiful, what is fair and just, what is perfection itself. Nothing is good, true and beautiful, nothing is fair and just, nothing is perfect if it is not done with God and for God. In short, we need to refer all our acts to God. We have to make this affirmation very clear in our mind and do everything to make that ideal a reality. We have to be most careful in handling our intentions. They play a strategic role in our life, for how and where we direct them would deter mine whether we want to be with God and simply with our own selves. Our intentions express who and where in the end we want to be. Do we choose God, or do we simply choose ourselves, or the world in general? It’s actually a choice between good and evil. Even if we are not aware, or refuse to be aware, of this choice, which is usually the case, the choice between God and us, between good and evil is always made with every human act we do. For us to have purity of intention, we should be humble enough to ask for it from God first. We should not dare to think that we can have purity of intention by simply relying on our own efforts. We need God’s grace first of all. Our usual problem is that we think we can have purity of intention by our own efforts alone.

COVID-19 deadly disease emerged as the worst global health disas ter throughout the years. Since the occurrence of the World War II in 1940s, humanity has experienced the most difficult health urgent situation. It caused serious panic and abrupt transitions to world leaders, offices, education sectors, and the whole commu nity altogether. Amidst the chaos and turmoil it brings the world, our edu cational system created strategies to attain learning continuity. It is where the distance learning put in place. Challenges swiftly went into surface in the phase of transformation.

Parents become teachers at home; children suffer the new norms as educa tion continuity delivers distantly. Teachers need to buckle up ideas to counter act the very need. Imagine yourselves when you are a teacher and a parent too; incredibly tough. It requires a great deal of attitude adjusting to distance learning as it takes perseverance and commit ment. Synonymously, it affects not only an isolation group but the entire hu manity as a whole. Almost three (3) years had passed and the educational arena is about to face its paradigm shift. Away from the usual setup, the world will begin to unfold and embrace the gradual alteration in the educational landscape. May it resonate oddly but somehow true that we need to wake up and face the reality once more. Though it would not be full blast yet, still let us gear our selves up and be ready. Another milestone will undertake welcoming the face to face learning modal ity. Schools apparently face adjustments as the school enrolment increases with limited instructional spaces while dealing the maxi mum number of students as prescribed by law and by our health leaders. Our world is not yet to its normalcy where students can go without wearing and observing health protocols. Everyone is expected to continue the present health standards while facing tran sitions. We need to become more adaptive, supple, and flexible. Furthermore, as a teacher we are highly ex pected to do the lead. We have to remember that we are bound for excellence, perseverance, and resil ience. But first and fore most, we need not to forget that our God is supremely capable to do miracles and very generous to help us, get through it. All we need to do is pray and believe that everything is possible.

New applications could arise from new scientific understanding. Today, every thing exists, and science is the driving force behind every thing’s existence. All global development and progress are results of the existence of science. Nearly every facet of human life science is impor tant. In order to ascertain the reality of any facts, science is a methodical procedure in which many hypotheses, formulas, rules, and thoughts are examined and assessed. This methodical process in vestigates and produces fresh knowledge from every kind of activity that takes place in the universe, of which we are a tiny fraction, or in the surrounding natural world. When we consider our past, the planet has undergone tremendous growth. There are a lot of devices and machines in the world. Everything in our environment is operated by machinery. How did that happen? How did we get to be so advanced? With the aid of science, it was all do able. Our society has evolved significantly as a result of science. In addition, science has given us carefree and easy lifestyles.Technology and science are crucial in the rapidly changing world of today. Everything is a product of contemporary science and technology, from the road to the buildings, the shop to the instructional materi als. The use of science and technology has produced almost everything we observe in modern civilization. Even the toothpaste we use to brush our teeth in the morning and at night before we go to sleep is a creation of science and technology.Sincehumans have been able to take notes, society has changed, and as a result, so has science. Indeed, sci ence has had an impact on society and continues to do so now. Our beliefs and way of life have altered as a result. Science has given humanity the opportunity to think about issues like education, justice, and even ethics; to build civilizations; and to improve human living and situations.

Several centuries ago, edu cation focused on the teacher and the learning content. The teacher was perceived to be the sole source of information inside the classroom. Learners had no choice than to fix their eyes on the teacher if they are to successfully acquire the nec essary knowledge, skills, and attitudes. However, everything gradually changed when John Dewey entered the scene. In the 1890’s, Dewey made known his educational reform called progressiveProgressiveeducation.education is a child-centered pedagogical approach that values learning experiences over traditional learning. Dewey believed that the child, not the learning content nor the teacher, is the center of the teaching-learning process. He insisted that teachers give learners the chance to inter act and collaborate with other learners as well experience the learning process. This is better known as “learning by doing.” Progressivism prompted the teachers to establish rapport with the learners in order to understand them better with the end view of meeting their various educational needs. While teachers used to teach, this time, they became facilitators of learning. It must be noted, however, that being a learning facilitator does not in any way diminish their role. As a matter of fact, humans naturally teach. And the first time of facilitating learning will almost always entail struggles and discomfort on the part of the teacher. But when facilitation already becomes a daily routine, everything will go smoothly and naturally. Teaching children how to think rather than memorize facts is the heart of progressive education. It allows them to manipulate objects, collaborate with classmates in discovering facts, do physical activities that lead to learning, and express themselves in a creative way. To teach children how to think, Dewey introduced five steps of scientific learning, namely 1) experience of the problem or difficulty, 2) clarification of the problem, 3) formation of hypoth eses, 4) testing of hypotheses by experiments, and 5) observation of outcomes and drawing of inferences. These steps serve as the ultimate guide for children in their quest for discovery. For John Dewey, educa tion is not a preparation for life; education is life itself. This implies that every teacher must strive to give children the best possible learning experiences on a regular basis. In other words, teachers must see to it that the children are enjoying as they learn. Research revealed that children learn best when their emotion is positively triggered during the teaching-learning process.Progressive education has revolutionized the way knowl edge, skills, and attitudes are imparted to the learners. It marked an era where teachers had to step aside to offer the centerstage to the real actors and actresses of the show---the learners themselves.

Wearing a uniform makes it possible for students to con centrate on their studies and not on how uncomfortable they are. In some instances, it is possible for individuals not to wear uniform at school because they prefer to be able to wear casual attire. Regard less of your own personal opinion about uniforms, it’s essential that you grasp the rationale behind uniforms even for those who don’t want to wear them. School uniform is an important aspect of educa tion for both students and teachers. When you go to school, you get to choose how you want to portray yourself to your teachers, classmates, and anybody else who might catch a glance of you in your uniform. Wear ing a uniform allows you to focus on your academics because it minimizes the need to think about what to wear. If your school mandates students to wear uniforms, you don’t have to spend as much time deciding which attire is suited for each event. Your uniform will always be the same, so there will be no need to search through your wardrobe to find the correct clothes to wear. As simple as it is to whine about the prices of school uniforms, you should stop complaining and start em bracing the benefits of wear ing one. To begin with, uni formed students had greater attention spans than nonuniformed students. This is most likely due to students wearing uniforms being more concentrated on their studies, resulting in improved study habits overall. In addition, wearing a uniform can boost productivity by encouraging students to put their devices away while at school since their uniform reminds them on why they are wearing it. This can potentially lead to better study habits and overall test performance. Further more, wearing a uniform can make students more likely to study in a group setting since they will feel the sense of belongingness because they are wearing the same thing as their classmates. This can lead to improved learning because the emphasis is less on the individual student and more on the group’s learning. To summarize, school uni forms serve a purpose other than fashion. They’re a way for students to demonstrate their appreciation for teachers, parents, and other authority figures. They support learners in focusing on their studies, developing better study hab its, and presenting themselves confidently to others. Keep your uniforms and enjoy the benefits of wearing it.***

BOP refers to the sum of a country’s total transactions with the rest of the world in a certain period.Ricafort said these factors “could lead to some easing in the country’s trade deficit/net imports for the coming months, which, in turn, could also lead to some improve ment in the country’s BOP data, as well as some easing of inflationary pressures and headline inflation, goingOilforward.”pricesand oil futures have gone below USD100 per barrel in recent weeks due in part to demand worries because of recession fears in the US and the lockdowns in China.Ricafort said these concerns, along with expectations for further hikes in the Federal Reserve’s key rates, are expected to further in crease volatility in both the local and global financial markets “that could lead to slower growth in the country’s structural inflows such as OFW (overseas Filipino work ers) remittances, thereby could be a potential drag on both BOP and gross international reserves (GIR) data.”He, however, said that continued inflows of foreign direct investments (FDIs) into the Philippines, along with reform measures such as the Corporate Recovery and Tax In centives for Enterprises (CREATE) law, the amendments to the Public Service Act (PSA), and the Foreign Investment Act, help boost the country’s BOP position. Raised by a single par ent, she shared that their financial situation became her motivation to finish college. Candelaria ac knowledged the importance of giving back by immersing herself in different medical missions as she believes everyone deserves quality healthcare. She wants to use the learnings she gained by working for any government hospital here in the country. In the future, she also sees herself working as a medical officer in the Philippine Marine Corps or Philippine Army. A consistent high-flyer, Vro chen Fernand Padilla took up a BS in Civil Engineering at Saint Louis University in Baguio because of his passion for structural and water management engineering. Living in an area most exposed and vulnerable to extreme weather events, Padilla recalls their house would shake during strong winds resulting to roof leaks, soaking his school papers. Given these experi ences, Padilla envisions himself contributing to developing more eco-friendly water management engineering solutions to help his hometown and other nearby areas in the north. Padilla graduated cum laude and plans to pursue further education to become a better expert in his chosen field. Its Tagum-Davao-Digos seg ment of the 100-kilometer line is expected to reduce travel time from Tagum City, Davao del Norte to Digos City, Davao del Sur from 2.5 hours to 1.3 hours. The three-phase MRP covers 1,530 kilometers of circumferential rail lines that will connect several areas in Mindanao, such as the Davao provinces and the cities of Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and Zamboanga.
