Districts will need to address not only the tremendous social and emotional toll that the crisis has had on children, but also the widespread unfinished learning and learning losses incurred in the wake of school closures as they continue instruction in the new school year. Although it is a task that educators have historically battled with, addressing skill gaps, incomplete learning, and misconceptions is a vital and natural component of the teaching and learning process.

Unfinished learning is a ma jor contributor to persistent achievement and opportunity inequalities because it frequently results in remedial or pull-out interventions that further isolate pupils and limit their access to challenging, grade-level mate rial. Therefore, addressing un finished learning constructively is crucial to a district’s long-term commitment to educational justice and excellence as well as its immediate reaction to the current Sometimespandemic.discussions of learning loss center on the num ber of scheduled learning hours that are missed in comparison to the amount of time spent studying remotely. This implies that an hour spent learning in a classroom is equivalent to an hour spent learning remotely at home. This might not always be the case; how the instructor uses the time in class can have a significant impact on whether it is more or less effective than time spent at home. Addition ally, it is likely that the students’ homes contribute significantly to the variety in output that is typically restrained by their at tendance at school. It’s crucial to keep in mind that lost time does not always equate to lost learning, though it might, and that not all students will lose the same amount of knowledge as a result of lost time. Duterte said supporting the youth will help realize the 2030 national targets. As we endeavor to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, our challenge is to figure out how to ensure that all of Asean will reach its potential by 2030. I believe that we must focus on the Asean youth. Duterte emphasized how quality education and re gional collaboration amid diversity may help unleash the competence of the young people. One of the ways to inovlve the Asean youth is to ensure that they are equipped with the knowl edge and skillset needed in a highly competitive envi ronment. BECAUSE we can easily be confused and entangled in the drama of our life, we should see to it that we are always vigilant and fruitful, so that we avoid losing our proper focus and the sense of purpose of our whole life. The focus should always be God and how to relate everything to him, glorify ing him. This should always be in our mind, whatever the circumstance and situation we may find ourselves in at a given moment. For this, we have to make use of some effective plan of life, with the proper attitude and spirit. and relevant and functioning practices of pi ety. Given the complexity of our life today, what with all the rapid and sophisticated developments emerging, we should be ready to face the challenge.Weneed to be vigilant always, in good times and in bad times, and most es pecially in ordinary times which we still would not know whether it is good or bad. We should never let our guard down. From time to time, let’s pause to see if we are still keeping our proper bearings and outlook. This is simply because we have enemies to contend with all the time. First of all, it is our own selves, our own weakened flesh that will always lure us to do things against God’s will and against what is truly good for us. Then we have the world with all its sinful attractions and temptations. And, of course, the devil himself. Never discount him. He’s always around, prowling like a lion looking for someone to devour. (cfr 1 Pt 5,8) In what may seem to be good times, when things are more or less ok, let us thank God and do our best to make use of all the blessings and good opportunities made available for us. But let’s not forget that the good things can also oc casion dangers for us if we are not careful. We should know where those dangers lie in the good things that we may enjoy at the moment. In that way, we avoid falling into complacency that will practically spoil us, and take away the goodness of the blessings we are enjoying. Everyday, we should be keenly aware that we need to be fruitful and productive also. That’s simply because even from the beginning of our creation in Adam and Eve, this has always been God’s will for us.

SILA PO AS TAO HINDI BASURA. All these years, they have been treated as disposable wastes. Here is a summary of the IP narra tives: “Since 2016, a total of 98 individuals especially IP leaders have fallen victims to extra judicial killings with around 169 victims of frustrated EJKs, 227 IPs have been illegally arrested, detained and abducted and 27 reported being subjected to torture.” For what? For resisting the continuing il legal land grabing of their ancestral domain. Of those killed included a five-year old boy and a pregnant woman. PATAY NA, KINA TAY PA! Such is a way of instilling fear as the indig enous lands have become battle grounds of conflict against powerful forces that aim to grab their lands and resources to advance politi cal and economic interest in support of agenda that is driven by corporate greed. Dispossession and displace ment of IP community from their ancestral lands con tinue unabated despite the recognition of IP rights by the IPRA Law as well as International Human Rights Laws. The violations of their human rights are continuing without let-up, manifesting the painful truism that the enrichment of the rich by acquiring their lands means the IPs own dispossession. Land, water, forests and natural resource called com mons are their economic assets which for thousands of years they have been us ing in the spirit of sharing and service to one another as the IP culture has given high adherence to the sa credness of nature. Now that the IP rights are being wantonly violated which are well protected by the IPRA Law which created the NCIP to be the IP vanguard, the IPs now are the poorest of the poor and the most oppressed. Their ancestral domain has been converted into massive plantations to serve the consumerist lifestyle of the people in advanced countries while we cannot even have enough staples, i.e. rice and milk, for our people. NCIP, where are Letyou?us revisit some of these painful narratives.

In San Vicente, Sumilao, Bukidnon, the Manobo Tribe headed by a lady Datu named Bae Merlita Ma yantao stood up to defend their 5,000-ha. ancestral domain which was fenced into a ranch by a powerful corporation. When the tribe protested in 2016, barrage of bullets rained upon them and 3 protesters died and 3 wounded including two of her children. Until now, it was so painful to know that nothing has been done and I was told they are seeing the killers going around freely who are members of a well-known Security Group. But such is just a tip of the iceberg. If you go to the 4-lane highway in Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon, more than one thousand families of the Manobo-Pulangiyon Tribe are living under shat tered tents for more than five years now eating only “kamote” once a day. “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it,” (Gen 1,28) God told our first parents, clearly outlining his mandate to them. It’s a mandate that continues to be repeated up to now. Christ himself said as much. We have to realize that God has already given us everything that we need, not only to survive but also to improve our lot that ul timately translates into re alizing the fullness of our dignity as image and likeness of God, as children of his. In this regard, we truly should be most enterprising, coming up with daily plans and strategies such that at the end of the day, when we make our examination of conscience, we can show God that we have gained something, and that the daily balance sheet of our spiritual life is in the black, not in the red. We have to realize that the capitalization of this enterprise cannot be any better. God has given us everything—life, talents, intelligence, freedom, all kinds of capacities, his graces, etc.

With its legal mandate, DepEd has promulgated issu ances on flexible learning and materials, specifically DepEd Or der No. 21 s, 2019 or the Policy Guidelines on the K-12 Basic Education Program. It sets forth the Flexible Learning Options (FLOs) which include alternative delivery modes and their cor responding learning resources that are responsive to the need, context, circumstances, and diversity of learners. Yet, focus ing on the never-stopping part alone, as if it does not affect everything else, seems to be very challenging for the school because it needs to make sure that quality learning will happen. With this, CCS conducts a study on the level of satisfaction with the implementation of Online Distance Learning Modality -a pilot implementation to respond to the demand that education must continue. The results show that the learners have a high level of satisfaction with an overall mean average of 3.644. Almost all learners have a common observation of the indicators presented. They agree that they were satisfied with the way the online teaching was being implemented and delivered to them while the level of satisfaction of the teachers is also high with an overall mean average of 4.017 and a standard deviation of 0.80 which means that the teachers’ extent of the agreement was clustered around the mean. The school innovation, intervention, and preparation strategy greatly affect the successful imple mentation of online distance learning. Qualitative responses to corresponding open-ended questions supported the find ings that provide information to the school administrators, parents, and stakeholders on the importance of online dis tance learning in this time of the pandemic. Thus, in the final analysis, both learners and teachers have almost the same level of satisfaction though both teachers and learners were not ready in facing the unprecedented Covid 19 at tack, the data shows that the school was able to develop an effective mechanism in respond ing to the call that education must continue. Indeed, strong partnership, teamwork, and collaboration make it possible. School leaders manage the school thru strategic planning and intensive consultations with all concerned individuals.

PARANG SILANG MGA DAGA BINARIL-BARIL PARA PALABASIN SA KANILANG LUPAIN!With such a painful truism that no justice can be done to implement the rule of law, the Manobo-Pulangiyon Tribe has now decided to do what the Panaw Multipurpose Cooperative had done for justice and sustainability. Let us revisit the Cooperative’s amazing successful story. The 147-hectare flat agricul tural terrain at the foot of Mt. Kitanglad in Sumilao, Bukidnon as an ancestral land where the Higaonon Indigenous Commu nities, as early settlers, had lived sustainably for hundred of years. It was their forefathers’, but not anymore. A series of evictions came beginning in the 1930s up to the 1970s when powerful clans in Bukidnon turned the land into cattle ranch and grazing areas. With the advent of the Compre hensive Agrarian Reform Program, struggle to regain back the blessed land began in the `1990s but the powerful clans’ grip of the land had been tightened through legal maneuverings. Thus, in 2007, 55 landless farmers who were members pf the Cooperative did a decisive move that would reverse the flow of history that always favored the rich and the powerful. This time, the appeal for justice was to a bigger court – to the Filipino people themselves. “Walk for land, walk for jus tice,” was their battle cry when they began their 1,700-km. hike from Sumilao, Bukidnon to Manila that lasted for two long months or 55 days. Day and night they would walk under the excruciating heat of the sun and braving the cold ness of the night. Upon reaching Manila on Dec. 5, 2007, and set-up camp at the DAR Central office in Quezon City, the Sumilao farmers walked further to Malacanang on Dec. 17,2007 in a church-led procession escorted by hundreds of supporters including bishops, priests, nuns, seminarians and students. They met then Presi dent Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for dialogue. Finally on Dec. 18,2007. The President through her Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita issued an Executive Order to revoke the conversion order of 144 hectares the farmers were fighting for and put the land back under the CARP. Their cause
