a dead rises to life again, people nowadays say there can be no miracles taking place. It’s

a question of faith. When one has faith, even if it is just little, we can see the marvels of God taking place all around everyday. They are miracles be cause these situations of ten defy human logic and worldly wisdom. But then again, they can only be acknowledged if one has faith. THAT gospel episode about a centurion who asked some people to approach Christ for him, and to beg on his behalf for the cure of his sick slave (cfr. Lk 7,1-10) teaches us the lesson that we should have a strong faith if we want to ask some special favor from God.

To avoid the introduction and spread of COVID-19 in schools and the community, as well as to guarantee the protection of students and school employees while on campus, a number of mea sures and standards need to be examined and put into place. For the growth of young children, institutions of higher education, residen tial schools, or specialized institutions, particular ar rangements should be taken into account. The three main pillars of COVID-19-appro priate behavior—consistent and sensible mask wear, use of a set sanitization process, and hand washing—must all be adhered to by both students and school person nel. Planning and resource allocation by school officials is necessary to ensure the availability of such behavior change strategies.

As I was reviewing Sir Bryle’s profile for record keeping, I noticed that he is qualified to go abroad and teach where the pay is much higher than here in the Philippines. A graduate cum laude and a teacher with many skills is unmatched to what he is earning here. But as he in his words it, and I sensed the truth that he has the heart to continue to teach here in the Philippines to continue serving these types of children, it shows that he has the desire to serve and support this nation. To be honest, Sir Bryle has talked about a lot of experiences with Sped. However, I do recall one instance where he expressed a real desire to change his work and pursue other interests since he felt under pressure from both the children and their parents at the time. But he always taught himself not to give up things easily since, if he stopped teaching, who would be teaching these children? This gives him the drive to keep spreading awareness among these amazing children.

The goal of education is to equip today’s youth with the skills they will need to con tribute positively to society in the future. The educational system plays a crucial role in helping students become independent thinkers, acquire life skills, and ultimately use those skills to be productive in their surroundings and, ideally, improve them. We are all educated from the moment of birth. The majority of our brain’s growth occurs between birth and about age six. It is crucial to provide children with a positive atmosphere because their ability to suc ceed in the future will most likely be determined by how well they do now.

a student learns based on his or her personal experiences. Each person comes from a unique background, has unique life experiences, and has had unique educational experiences. To give the kids a shot at a bright future, the instructor needs to motivate them in a constructive way to let go of the past and move forward. The third and, in my opinion, most significant job of a teacher is to guide. A teacher must be able to demonstrate to the class the possible career choices for each student. He or she as a teacher needs to be able to guide the students through their education with the in tent that the students at the end of their road as a student will be able to be productive members of society and be well informed.

School closures caused by lockdowns in reaction to COVID-19 have disrupted the regular school day. Children and students have had to rely more on their own resources to continue studying remotely through the learning materi als provided by the teachers, despite the educational com munity’s best attempts to ensure learning continuity throughout this time. Ad ditionally, teachers have to adjust to new pedagogical theories and methods of instruction for which they may not have received for mal training. Learners in the most marginalized groups, in particular, who lack the resiliency and engagement to learn on their own or don’t have access to digital learning tools, are at risk of falling behind.

Preparing the Children for the Future

No matter how talented you are as a teacher, stress is unavoidable in most teaching jobs, but especially when teaching special education learners. Learners with special needs often re quire more attention than those without special needs to ensure progress, so teachers can become overburdened. I saw the sincereness of Sir Bryle as I was observing and talking to him. Despite of the many needs that were not provided by the school’s budget and DepEd as a whole, Sir Bryle was able to stay motivated and have all my respect. In all humility I cannot surpass what they can do. Teaching learners with special needs is no picnic—stress and paperwork can make even the most cheerful people grumble a bit—but there are plenty of moments that make the job very rewarding. It’s important for would-be special education teachers to be fully committed to their work as this is not a career that lends itself to a halfhearted effort. Here’s the good news—if you have the right attitude and are willing to put in the work, you are well on your way to working in this demanding but gratifying career. My salute to you Sir Bryle and my admiration to your patience and hardwork.

Every child has the right to an education, a privilege that so many kids today haven’t been able to fully exercise. This was frequently the result of reasonable efforts made to safeguard the public’s health during this pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic is se verely affecting educational systems’ operations and re sults, some of which were already under a lot of strain. All children are impacted by this globally and to varying degrees depending on a va riety of factors, including the country or region in which they reside, as well as their ages, family histories, and level of access to certain educational opportunities during the epidemic.

Sir Bryle, one of our Sped Teach ers, I meet first. I had the opportunity to observe him first in his class with Roger (alias), a deaf-mute learner. I’m struck by how gracefully he employs sign language and how deliberately he teaches the learner how to sign. How he managed to teach sign lan guage throughout the entire period really astounded me. Learning sign language is difficult, and I must add that patience and a will to do so are required if we are to master this mode of communication.Notlongcomes another learner, alias Mat, who have autism manifesta tion. This child exhibits hyperactivity, stands up constantly, and occasionally has tantrums. He also keeps repeating the same words (echolalic). I was awed with Sir Bryle of his persever ance and the patience he has in teaching difficult learners. I realized that in this class there is no “typical” learner. Managing a diverse range of students and their abilities is part of the challenge of being a special education teacher. A nonverbal child, for example, requires a completely different approach to education than a student with Attention-Deficit/Hy peractivity Disorder (ADHD). This necessitates teachers being adapt able in their teaching styles while maintaining realistic expectations for students. Many people dismiss learner in special education classes as having only emotional or behavioral issues and dismiss their potential or ability to learn. That proved to be wrong.
