In line with the Earth Day annual celebration, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region 10 joins with the Cagayan de Oro City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office, various national government agencies, academe, private organizations, youth groups and other volunteers for the clean-up drive on April 22 in Coastal Road, Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

An estimated of 4,000 volunteers participated in the Earth Day activity to demonstrate support for environmental protection and to promote sustainable development to raise awareness on environmental issues and encourage people to protect planet Earth.

Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Sunday vowed for the swift passage of 11 additional legislations, bringing to 42 the total number of priority administration measures.

Marcos Jr.; Ease of Paying Taxes; Maharlika Investment Fund; Local Government Unit Income Classification; Amendment to Universal Health Care Act, which were already sent to the Senate; Bureau of Immigration Modernization; Infrastructure Development Plan/Build Build Build Program, which is now for committee report preparation; Philippine Salt Industry Development Act; Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System; National Employment Action Plan; and Amendment to the Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act, which is under committee/technical working group meeting.

Imee seeks regulation of artificial intelligence in BPOs, OEMs

Estate tax amnesty extension lifeline for pandemic-hit sectors

– The clock is ticking and the Senate needs to pass an important bill seeking to extend the estate tax amnesty period for two more years.

Deputy Speaker and Batangas 6th District Rep. Ralph Recto said in a news release on Sunday that his “former classmates can approve what is a simple bill” without having to wait for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to certify the measure as urgent.

He said that when session resumes on Monday, both chambers of Congress have 12 session days before it adjourns anew by the end of the month.

Under the current estate tax amnesty law, the period to avail of the benefits expires on June 14.

But Recto expressed hopes of an extension “because in legislation, a month is an eternity. Kaya kayang-kaya ipasa (It can be passed).”
