MANILA – Oil companies will adjust fuel prices on Tuesday.

In separate advisories, Caltex, Cleanfuel, Jetti, Petro Gazz, PTT, Seaoil and Shell said they will increase gasoline prices by PHP0.90 per liter and PHP1.05 per liter on diesel prices.

On the other hand, Caltex, Seaoil and Shell will roll back kerosene prices by PHP0.25 per liter.

Outlook for oil demand from China and concerns on supply continue to drive oil prices in the global market as the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) targets to further cut production this year.

With the price adjustments in fuel products last week, gasoline prices recorded an increase of PHP7.20 per liter since the start of the year, while diesel and kerosene prices also hiked by PHP0.85 and PHP2.05 per liter, respectively.

Data from the Department of Energy show that as of Feb. 17, gasoline prices range from PHP56 to PHP78.20 per liter, from PHP54.40 to PHP74.84 per liter for diesel, and from PHP71.50 to PHP77.95 per liter for kerosene. (PNA)

During the Saturday News Forum in Quezon City, Lanie Dormiendo, director for the International Investments Promotion Service of the Board of Investments (BOI), said manufacturing is one of the priority sectors that the administration intends to develop.

“We are really aggressively promoting innovative and sustainable manufacturing and services,” Dormiendo said, noting that the government is putting a premium on “high-value” manufacturing activities such as electric vehicle (EV) assembly, battery manufacturing and mineral processing.

“We want to attract foreign investors to do a higher value activity to do mineral processing, and then attract battery manufacturers and eventually the EV assemblers and EV manufacturers,” she added.

Dormiendo said the country has “a lot of minerals” that can be processed to form part of batteries, not only for EVs but also for battery energy storage systems.

She also said the government wants to capitalize on the country’s available resources instead of exporting them to China and Japan as raw minerals.

In terms of sustainable infrastructure and services, the Marcos administration is “actively” promoting renewable energy (RE), Dormiendo said.

She noted that late last year, the Department of Energy amended the imple-

She said the government also allows 100-percent foreign equity for geothermal and biomass, a move that encouraged more foreign and local investors to venture into RE.

“In fact, for the BOIapproved projects last year, RE projects accounted for a huge portion of our investment approvals,” she said. “For this year, we already registered more than PHP400 billion worth of investments and a large chunk of these investment approvals are also into renewable energy.”

Just six weeks into 2023, the total investment projects approved by the BOI already reached PHP414.3 billion, a 142.9-percent increase compared to the PHP170.5

Children’s Disabilities in Inclusive Education- Could It Be Possible?

BY: CELERINA B. AMARILLE Teacher I Cosina Integrated School Cosina, Talakag, Bukidnon

Learning is a process that a learner undergoes in his lifetime. It is an important gradual change that leads toward a particular result.

Although learning is a continuing natural activity, it is also an avenue that provides learning opportunities to all learners.

Generally, an inclusive education requires, promotes, and realizes to connect to the rights of children with or without disabilities, which are interlinked with the rights to education. An education that does not discriminate against learners but caters to their best interests, the one that provides them a chance to be heard, safeguards them from violence and abuse, and makes them important members of the community, and an education that supports mobility and easy access to health care.

Inclusive education means, not a single child will be excluded especially those with disabilities. It can be anchored to the Department of Education’s goal that, “ No child should be left behind,” inorder to improve learning, promote understanding, reduce prejudices, strengthens social integration, and ensures that they will be able to work and contribute something to their communities. Furthermore, education to all is emphasized to fully achieve an effective partnership between the learners including those who have disabilities, and the school to invest in high expectations and support all children and affect change.
